Brook Universal Fighting Board Thread

Anyone who uses one of these converters with a PS360+: Does the PS360+ autodetect the side needing converting or do you need to manually set the side needing converting by holding the requisite buttons on plug-in? Like say I buy the PS3->PS4 converter, does the PS360+ automatically go into PS3 mode?

I recommend asking in the converter thread. This is the Universal Fighting Board thread.

Updated info on the incoming shipment of these boards from ArcadeShock:

*These are heading over to us, so they will land any day now. We highly suggest pre-ordering these as you we will most likely sell out in under 2 weeks. The next batch is not coming until the END of March, early April if Brook is on target with their production. This time schedule goes for ALL dealers, so no one is getting them earlier than that time frame in the 2nd run.

Check out the wiring diagram for the Universal Fighting Board. A thing of beauty.

If you haven’t done so already, pre-order here:

Brook sent me a photo of the first shipment being prepared to be sent out to ArcadeShock and Paradise Arcade Shop! I am not a retailer of the Brook Universal Fighting Board but through a lot of discussions, recommendations, and testing Jasen’s Customs and Brook have developed a great relationship. They even used my retail packaging ideas and the “Universal” logo I created!

Check out the photo of the new boards being prepared for shipment on either my of ArcadeShocks Facebook page.

J2 is for??

Not for end user use. Its a programming header used by the factory.

//CORRECTION: This may be for something else upon further review. Not sure what yet, but I will continue to evaluate.

Looks like the Panzer 2.0 needs one more hole drilled for turbo?

The 3 buttons on the front can be whatever you want them to be. I figured most will want L3/R3/TouchPad, but one could easily be made for TURBO. When I design the optional PCB for that I will likely have a jumper or something that turns one of the 3 into a Turbo Button or the Alternate button. I don’t know anyone who uses turbo on their sticks during any events or practice, so it wasn’t something I was overly concerned about.

Good point. I was thinking of some of the older multi system boards that used turbo for forcing certain modes, but we won’t need to do that with the Brook pcb hopefully.

Hi jony. Great tutorial. Do you mind listing out components I would need to mod a original MadCatz TE stick? This is my first venture into stick modding. I’m almost sure I’m going to pull the trigger on the board. Also, I want to add turbo and the xbox 360 led light, would I need to solder wires or components to the board to get this to work?

Yes, you will.

Look close at the photo I took of the Brook Board:

For the Turbo Button: Since its a momentary switch (or it at least looks like one) You will wire one side of it to TBKEY, the other to GND. Right there on J8.

For the Turbo LED: You will solder one lead to the VCC (+ LEAD, Very Important) and the other lead (-) to TBLED. Also on J8.

For the X360 LED. I am not sure how madcatz did this, but if they did it such that each LED has a lead for power and one for ground, you can do that righ there on J5. VCC on J5 to the (+) lead on each of the 4 LEDs, and then the 1/2/3/4 LED to P1/P2/P3/P4 position on the J5 points.

Everything else should be simple and use the screw terminals.

Finally, here is a outline from Brook:

Thanks Jasen. Can you provide me with the brand of wires I will need to wire the buttons? I’m assuming I can’t use the ones that came in the TE stick, no?

Though it’s not necessary by any means, a part of me is sad that there is no RGB pins for PS4 player indicator LEDs since they included it in the PS3/4 board. Well, can’t whine too much since they give a bunch of other neat features for this price point.

You won’t need anything else. If you think you need to extend them to get to where you want to mount the board, just pick up any wires that are 22awg or smaller and some shrinkflex. I think a lot of guys use Cat5 twisted pair just fine for mods and extending wires. Nothing specific or special needed. Keep in mind that you will have to cut them and wont be able to reverse the process.

Requires Pins on the Processor. Eventually you run out when you put so much into a single board.

Wires are wires lol

Now I installed UFB on TE2

In PS4 work perfect but in PC (Xbox One controller) is disconnected after 10 seconds

What could it be?

Where did you get the board? Its not even released yet…

I have a store where I sell Brook Super Converters

Brook sent me a piece for testing

I apologize for all these questions, so please forgive me for my ignorance. I think I understand what I need to do to get this baby working with my stick.

  1. Do any arcade part stores sell daisy chain wire I can use for common ground? If not, is there a tutorial? I haven’t seen one around the tech section of srk.
  2. Can I buy a component that I can solder in place of a wire so I can connect/disconnect the turbo and led easily?

You’re right lol, I’m just thinking too much about this.

I recommend contacting them as you have a beta test board. My beta board works fine, I suspect we have different versions.

Doesn’t the madcatz sticks have a common ground wire in the system somewhere? Just piggy back on that.

Anyways,

  1. ParadiseArcadeShop.com sells daisy chains.
  2. Yes, any 2mm spaced connector will work here. I like the JST PH versions: http://www.jst-mfg.com/product/detail_e.php?series=199
