Brook Universal Fighting Board Thread

Guys I have a few prototype boards… I’ll be uploading a basic install video in the next couple of days… Be on the lookout…

Thanks!!! I’d be great if it is for a MadCatz PS3/PS4 TE2 please (I ave a GGXrd fightstick) Plus some tips for dual modding for retro consoles (PS360+, Cthuluh), not important for now, I just want for xbox+ps :). Yeah, any basic install video should be enough though.

I already took the plunge and pre-order the new PCB.
I guess this would be my first hands-on experience with brook products.
With my already established goal of using this PCB as a drop in replacement for a PS360+ PCB with a Hori FC4 Dual Mod and seeing how this board performs.

Its going into that red 6 button Pazer case I got from you from last fall.

Can you guys make a firmware with U+D=N setting, rather then U+D=U?

Welcome back RoBoBOBR, I haven’t seen you in a long time.

Hi! I’m lurking mostly, but never went away =)
To clarify my initial post - it’d be cool to have 2 versions of firmware, one with U+D=N, one with U+D=U. This way every user will be able to get the setting he finds more to his liking.

I have a few questions because this seems like the best option for me since I already own a few sticks that are not compatible with my Xbox One or PS4 and would love to save money and space by not buying new sticks.

  1. Can I easily replace my first gen Tournament Edition stick PCB with this one?
  2. Can I easily replace my MadCatz SE stick PCB with this one?
  3. Do I need any additional components to make it work?

Thanks

Yes yes no

If I understand things correctly:

  1. Yes, but if you want to use the original Home button then you’ll need to solder.
  2. Same as above, there’s also less space to play around with inside an SE stick so you might find it a bit trickier to secure the PCB.
  3. You’ll be wanting a USB A>B cable (average printer cable) if you don’t want to solder the original cable. Seems a bit of an oversight they didn’t include screw terminals for this like the ChImp SMD did…

Thanks guys. I’ll keep an eye on this board. The other thing I’m worried about are PS4 firmware updates. What does that entail? I heard that Brook converters stopped functioning until a firmware update was released to resolve the issues.

This came at a perfect time. No regrets about using my amazon points on a pull-up bar instead of an FC4 now.

Look forward to seeing them!

Minimizing through hole soldering = less cost for manufacturing. There is a nice header there that it would be easy to solder a part into or just solder the wires to though.

Firmware updates are a breeze with the updater. Anything could get broken with an update that isn’t officially licensed. Its the way of the world.

What kind of guarantee do we have that Brooke will be on top of potential blocks introduced by console FW updates?

Well their track record is really good so far. Its the biggest thing that impress me with Brook so far.
As well as their stellar customer service.

Does firmware for sticks normally have U+D=U? If so that’s win for me

Looks awesome. Preordered two

Their turn around for firmware patches have been in the ballpark of 24-48 hours. Pretty gdlk if you ask me…

Basic Installation and First Look Video I whipped up… also posting on 1st page.
