Hello! I just got to replace my old pcbs with UFB and went and tried to plug it in on my Win7(64) machine. Computer froze. I tried to update firmware (where plugin with home+select didn’t cause crash) and it failed at verify stage. After that windows recognizes it as “P4 Wired Gamepad” with not all buttons working.
Man at $90 bucks a pop for the boards I would get someone with experience to help out. If you still plan on doing it yourself - I would watch as many tutorial videos as you can. Good luck man.
If you are just connecting buttons it is pretty straight forward, but if you plan on soldering you should know what you are doing first so you don’t accidentally short your board or something stupid like that.
OK so apparently controller works on USB2 but in USB3 it crashes. and seems like I accidentally broke that button during installation. Is it safe to assume if controller works on PS3 it would work on PS4 too? Windows recognizes P3 controller, P4 controller, Xbox360 and Xbone modes.
you need to use an HEX Inverter (74HC04, the same as the madcatz xbox360 controller pcb invert trigger method) to invert the brook led outputs and then connect the inverted output to your anodes on the TE2 pcb :).
You don’t need any resistors, just the inverter properly powered
@“DJ Divine” and @DonkeyBlonkey , Did you guys manage to get the Player LED indicators working? I have a TE2 for xbox 360 with player indicator LEDs and I have ordered a BUFB. I will start my installation after a month but I need to be prepared. I was only concerned about Player and MCZ logo LED.
If anyone else actually got it working, can you please shed some light on this?
If anyone has a PS4 TE2, I’ll mod it free (provided you pay for the parts and shipping) with a Brook UFB. I want to Investigate a few things about it but can’t justify spending $300 on science alone. Shoot me a PM if interested.
Wired up 2 boards today, one in a FSP and the other in a Q4. Install went as smooth as butter, all functions working as they should. Forced mode is a godsend. The only thing I would ask is if the P3 for ps4 mode could be labeled P4 in Windows? That would be awesome.
