Brook Universal Fighting Board Thread

Auto detect still works. This just lets you force it into a mode on plug in vs. letting it decide automatically. Helpful for use with the PC or other devices like @undamned UD-USB.

Jasen

Jasen,
Thanks for confirming. Iā€™m going to test out the new firmware later.

so I wake up today and lo and behold Zippy somehow found my twitter and is now following me, how good is this man with the support and community!? :o

i assume the touchpad simulation instructions mean, hold the TP key and move the joystick in those directions?

This completely fixed my Windows 10 issues. Thank you guys for the super fast firmware update. 100% happy with my purchase.

Iā€™m really proud of how Brook is working with the community. I can say without a doubt they are awesome. Thanks for the responsiveness Brook and @GOGO.Zippy

So I just got mine in the mail. Just to test and make sure it works, I plugged it into my PC (not hooked up to anything) and every time I do this, windows completely locks up and I have to hard reset my PC. Not sure how to proceedā€¦

Edit/Update: So this seems to only happen when plugging this into a usb 3.0 port. Plugging it into a usb 2.0 port seems to function fine.

So, Iā€™ve been mucking around with this install for the past day or so. Got all the non-solder buttons working correctly and tested on 360 and PC w/ Windows 7. I installed the firmware, and it seems to be working correctly with the forced 360 mode now, but some hiccups I noticed while testing:
-On 360, (tested in SFxT) it briefly was not detecting diagonals. If I held down, and back, it would just walk back. I tried replugging the stick, and it then detected diagonals correctly
-When I installed the firmware, the program said that the install failed. It seems to have worked because the forced mode function is working, but I was kind of worried about firmware corruption from a partial install. Am I thinking about it too much?
Edit: I noticed in the Brook firmware instruction PDF, if it says install failed, it suggested re downloading the updater and doing the process over. It says failed every time though.
Anybody else have similar experience?

@viparas
App will check Xboxone mode after updating.
Like to you say, app updated completely but check failedā€¦itā€™s no problem.
Or you can install Xboxone usb driver on pc to re-try.

Thanks your sharing. Weā€™ll confirm it on 02/15.
After Happy Chinese New Year to lookā€¦

Something extremely minor, but figured Iā€™d note it anyway. The Brook board seems to have a lower power output for player LEDā€™s then the stock board in a Madcatz Fight Stick Te. While I was plugging in multiple 360 controls (including a stock TE) to check all the LEDs, I noticed they were much more dimly lit then the stock TE.

If someone installs this in a hrap 4 kai, please post a picture

Of the inside of course

Ready for SFV!

Got my Brook Universal Fighting Board and spent my night installing. Had to muck about terrible Microsoft Xbone drivers to let me be able to update the boardā€™s FW, but all good now.

Wired up the turbo button to act as touchpad button and both control mode and lock switches on the panel are operational as well.

Iā€™m trying to figure out how best to add a touchpad button to my Voltech cases. Drilling through the face probably isnā€™t a good idea, and I canā€™t imagine drilling through the steel (esp. the SS version). Iā€™m thinking I may end up notching the plexi on the bottom and adding a small button there as flush with the case and plexi as I can get. Iā€™d have to lift up the case every time, true, but the stick is usually on my lap, and I canā€™t really figure out a cleaner way to do it

Edit: This is confusing lol. Had to edit this a couple times.

This seems like a great and reasonable solution. Has brook responded?

Personally, Im interested in a pair of brooks but going to wait and see how it handles the next couple of ps4/xbox one updates. Im going to want Share and Touchpad hooked up to my arcade cabinet so it looks like I will need an extra button. Going to play more than fighting games so i will assume other games will need them. Looking forward to how things develop

Ok so Iā€™m a little confused. I intend to put the Brook pcb in my stick, well one of them at least. Iā€™m trying to find the right usb/rj45 connector to connect the pcb to the Neutrik RJ45 pass through. I intend to also connect it to a MC cthulhu board for maximum compatibility for legacy systems. Tell me folks, what are my options for the pass through? Iā€™ve been looking at the Neutrik NE8FDP and I have RJ45 console cables as well.

I am installing this into a Madcatz Fightstick Pro, the SFxTekken version. Whatā€™s the best way to mount the Brooks board in the case? I canā€™t seem to find a set of screw holds that fit the board well.

You could tape it down and or hot glue it. Thatā€™s how I mounted my ChImp into my HRAP.

Snip the end off the network cable and solder just the lines used for USB to the Brooks board; plug in other end to the Neutrik jack. Look at the USB-RJ45 cable you already have for the pinout or somewhere in the first post here where it talks about making the cable: RJ-45 Multi Console Cthulhu Arcade Stick Tutorial Ver.2

Edit: If you want to avoid soldering, plug one end of a USB cable to the Brooks board. Connect the other end to the trimmed network cable to the other end of the USB cable with screw terminals or Phreakazoidā€™s USB cable repair tool: http://www.phreakmods.com/products/usb-repair-tool

better to use an imp instead so you dont have to drill into any cases which might prove to be difficult or troublesome.
