You’re clearly not a fan of multiple-platform support… I for one I would not be ok without being able to use my Arcade controller on the Xbox360, the PS3, the PS4 and the Switch (the PC too, but that’s implicit… there isn’t a specific “PC mode”). I don’t have or go to events where people play on the XboxOne.
I use a stick for any games that don’t demand controls that an Arcade controller doesn’t have (e.g., analog sticks, motion sensors, keyboard, mouse…), not just fighting.

Makes no sense to talk against a product in a thread about said product, specially when you have never owned said product. Your issues with it are dumbfounded, really, you’re just looking for debate, get a grip.

Dude(tte) talks out their ass. When I pointed out on Reddit that there’s no way they could get a JLF and buttons for $25 and that they’d either need to up their budget or get shitty generic eBay parts, they tried telling me I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between shitty generic eBay parts and Sanwa ones. Asshat for sure.

So i got my brook universal board today, i put it in my stick… works great! only problem i have is the 20 pin header. the connector seems to fit rather loosely and comes out of place after just a short time of playing. Anyone else have this problem and figure out a soluition? i would love to hear
So does the BUFB still have updated software to prevent timeouts on the PS4? I made a new stick and updated it but it had the timeout problem so I’m curious if it brook again or if I did it wrong.
never heard of that issue. but if its coming loose i would just use some hot glue to secure it.
it shouldn’t be timing out. is your USB connection secure?
As secure as i can imagine it being, i tried testing it several times too. Id plug it in make sure it lets me move around or something and not touch it, no wiggling cables, no moving the stick, but it just seems to still time out.
Could you have another UFB to try ?
Make sure your grabbing the UFB update for PC from here. Make sure its the 12/2018 version and shouldn’t have any timeout problems
So, thanks for going through the trouble of linking the right link, but I know I had the right one. I’ve made like to many stick/hitbox/rhythm boxes. I still took the download and tried it though because why not, and still no difference. As for trying another board, I got one of my hitboxes back from a friend and tested it out just now and had zero issues with it. So that hitbox worked but the arcade stick times out. Both have the UFB. Never had this issue before.
Edit: Spelling error and clarity.
Is there a trick to enable or disable Turbo mode for the Brook Universal Fighting Board? I have a recently-built custom controller, and it seems almost like Turbo mode is enabled for every other button press. Soul Calibur 6 and probably other games can show in real time what buttons you’re pressing in the button configurator. And, say, if I press and hold Square, it will show the icon for a Square input lit up solid. But then if I release the button and hold it again, Square flashes very quickly on screen. Release and press again, Square is solid again. Release and press again, Square is back to rapid flashing. It also looks the same in Antimicro (a free Windows application for mapping gamepad buttons to keyboard keys, and which is another handy way of testing whether button events are registering correctly).
I thought at first that it was just a problem with the wire connections not being perfectly seated – but it never fails to register a button press; and only for the right-hand buttons, it’s actually very consistent about alternating between solid and flashing when holding the button.
This behavior is the same in actual gameplay too, not just the button settings test screen. Press and hold Square, my character swings their sword once. Release, then hold Square again, my character continuously swings their sword over and over, just like if I’d been mashing the button really quickly… This also makes navigating menus a little tricky, because if I hold the confirm or cancel button just slightly too long, it may confirm or cancel twice… And it’s like this in every game I’ve tried.
I do have a Turbo button installed on the controller, and I’ve tried reseating the wires here. But pressing Turbo either by itself, or Turbo + A or whatever other button doesn’t seem to make any difference. I’m still getting auto rapidfire inputs every other time I press a button.
I’ve also tried:
- updating the firmware (I downloaded UniversalFightingBoard_ONLINE version 2.6 20181225 from the Brook website).
- downloading the firmware over again and reinstalling.
- manually switching between the Brook board’s Xbox One and Xbox 360 controller emulation, when playing games in Steam.
- reseating the USB cable on both ends.
- connecting to a different USB port on my laptop.
- connecting to my Nintendo Switch instead.
- connecting to my PlayStation 4 instead.
But none of these have made any difference. Turbo on every other button press is weird, but is pretty consistent.
My next thought was to maybe try downgrading to the previous firmware version, except I can’t find where to download it. And beyond that, I’m basically out of ideas
If I’m not mistaken, the UFB toggles turbo functionality by “hold Turbo button, and press your button”.
Which means your turbo key (header J8) is probably shorted to GND.
Sounds like it’s shorted, so on one press, it turns on, on the next, it turn off, and so on.
Even if all the Turbo wires are just unplugged?
Could be shorted at the PCB, even without any wiring.
Can’t say for sure; if you have a multimeter you should check for continuity between the Turbo button and GND.

Unfortunately, I don’t have a multimeter… I was sorta hoping I would not have to send it back to the artist who made the controller, but yeah, I can’t think of much else other than some hardware problem. And I wouldn’t know how to fix it myself if it’s anything beyond just moving or reseating different connectors…
Hi, so long story short, I have a ps4 Fighting edge that I want to use on my switch, except the input lag on the ps4 to switch converter feels god awful.
I’m thinking of picking up the UFB EZ mod through arcade shock and jasen customs. Has anybody used the UFB on the switch yet? what was your experience like using it? hows the input lag?
Hi, I finally got my UFB set up and it is working fine on PC, Switch, and PS3, but for some reason I cannot get it to work on my PS4 (slim model on 6.71). I am pretty sure the home/ps button works because I used it to update the firmware to V2.6 from the Brook website and it works on PS3. Any ideas on what is causing this?
