Anything on this yet? Anyone else have input on connecting a Brook modded stick and an OEM off the shelf stick and having it shut off the OEM stick and take over teh sign in of the OEM stick? @Brook_Engineer
This situation happens due to PS4 V3.50.
When plugging in the second controller, you have to get back to the user sign in page to sign into another user
I can’t seem to get xinput to work on my board, holding start does nothing. Comes up as “P4 Wired Gamepad” and everything is still dinput. I’m on the latest firmware.
e: Looks like it was a usb 3.0 issue, usb 2.0 ports work fine.
FA tech support wanted to see how it gets listed in the device manager on my PC. From this they determined that the unit was probably DOA, so they are sending me a replacement at no cost.
I assembled it together with a PS360+ and they are sharing GND and buttons, as you can see down here
They have different Neutriks and connections, I don’t have anything fancy to switch the boards (no IMP, no DPDT). The USB neutrik is used exclusively by the Brook board and the RJ45 by the PS360.
Problems:
Won’t recognize as a controller on windows 10, also doesn’t work on PS4
Shows as HID on the device manager
If I open the brook updater, it will show the “UPDATE” button. If I click update it will all go well and THEN it appears as a XBox360 controller on the joy.cpl list, but if I disconnect and reconnect it will again stop showing as a joystick and enable the “UPDATE” button on brook updater.
Things I tried:
Used a multimeter to test for shorts on the buttons. Can’t find anything wrong. GNDs are all shared/connected.
Used a multimeter and checked voltages. 5v and 3.3v are ok
Connected PS360+ to PC and Dreamcast, both worked perfect, all buttons and stick (so if there’s a short somewhere, PS360 is ignoring it, but I am sure there’s no shorts)
Also connected PS360+ directly via USB to windows 10 and it detected perfectly, again all buttons and stick working perfectly.
Tried forcing all the modes (Xinput via P3, PS3 and PS4 to see if they showed up as PS controllers on DS4win)
Deleted driver entries from Registry. When I did that and restarted the computer, the first time it showed as “P3 controller” or something like that, but after disconnecting and reconnecting it went back to not showing up/working.
I ran out of options. I am sure it’s using the latest download from Brook, and I updated like 10 times already.
Is there anything else to test? Am I missing something on this dual PCB setup?
For a Dual mod all boards must be connected to Ground as well as Power.
Just have a wire going from one board’s VCC point to another.
Without out the VCC, the inactive board will get a bit of power from the signals from the buttons and sent out false/erroneous impulses which effect the other board.
Having Power and Ground but not Data the inactive board will just idle there like a parked car with it’s engine running, you are wasting a tiny bit of electricity but nothing else.
i’m using the focusattack IST breakout kit for brook ps3/ps4 board this time around, to dual mod a 360 VS stick via impv2. button functions are daisy chained, usb wires soldered to the correct points on the impv2, home button is wired to impv2 as the switcher button. seems all good there.
something must be wrong with the powering of each board via impv2, since when i plug in the stick into a pc, it is recognized for a quick second, and automatically disconnected. same thing on both the brook board side and native 360 pcb side. after trying a number of things, now it’s not being recognized at all. any ideas? i tried connecting the IST breakout kit directly to the pc and nothing there still. i hope i didn’t damage anything.
