Bringing Sexy Back - Nemesis Discussion Thread (Pg.18 and beyond)

Chris’s Magnum Shot (qcf+C) is a 10 low priority durability projectile (according to the guide) and blasts right through dark hole. that has me questioning Nemesis’s bazooka shot priority/durability value. if its a medium priority proj, then Ghost Riders L ‘eat chain’ must be exactly the same because they cancelled each other out in one the gameplay vids. i wouldn’t think they’d give GR something like that considering his chains don’t have hittable boxes. i also didn’t expect that for Nemesis, but i’m not complaining.

also, i’m pretty certain his tentacle grab is blockable, as there’s a yellow spark when it hits you, indicating its a blockable move with a grab animation ala Haggar Giant Swing. if that was UB, that would give him REALLY scary damage with air tech resets.

If it turns out that Nemesis’ rush hyper really does have 100% Hyper armor from the get go, then wow. It will completely destroy a Full Team Hyper Combo, unless of course you have those animation starting attacks, counter and grab hypers that will stop him.

Definitely not crazy, I agree with you 100% that Nemesis is pretty much a Marvelized version of Q from 3rd Strike but with a Rocket Launcher and Tentacles.

I’m sure we all saw those awesome to the max Nemesis vids many times. Now look at this Q match vid.

If you look closely at Q and Nemesis attacks and specials. They are very similar like the Dash Punch with wall bounce, Super Dash Punches, Special Grab that leads into combos, and even the powerful but stiff looking regular attacks complete with grunts. Not to mention they both stand very tall and straight.

I wouldn’t be surprise if Capcom made Nemesis to have a fighting style like Q to subliminally advertise 3SOE coming out next week.

They script the gameplay vids so one of the two characters win to show off what the character can do. Nemesis already shined in the other one.

This isn’t MvC2 though, look at Haggar’s rapid fire fists.

I’m not completely convinced that Nemesis’s punch rush hyper is 100% armored. I think it might be only on that first punch, seeing as how thats the only time we’ve seen him get hit. But we’ll see when we get some footage from the Gamescom floor of people messing around with him.

Also, I’m thinking that since he can use regular rocket launcher projectiles midair, he might be able to do his rocket launcher super midair, which would be really helpful.

Assist-wise, we’re pretty in the dark. We only know of one AFAIK, a straight rocket launcher shot which just ended up getting blocked by GR. Unless I missed another assist in the video, that’s all we’ve got.

I’m not either, but i’m thinking its more than the first punch. He whiffs his first punch and then hits Chun-Li with his second one while still getting hit by kikoken.

I’m hoping it’s an unblockable command grab, like skrull’s. If it’s a hit instead of a grab, then it’s like omega red’s tentacles in mvc2. Thing is omega red was extremely mobile, and nemesis isn’t.

I’m hoping there’s grab versions of his tentacles, and just normal versions. It kinda looked like that to me in his vids. If they’re not command grabs, I guess that’s ok they’ll still be good zoning tools.

this

i love how during the 3rd gameplay trailer after Nemesis bitch slaps chun li, Hulk comes in a says “HULK HEL-” gets choked by tentacle

Damn, Nemmy is brutal. He makes Shuma look clean and Hulk look graceful.

So excited for him. To most, he’s probably the least interesting of the reveals, but I think his sheer power and graphic aesthetic offer something uniwue to the game while fitting in.

I also like his idle stance. Just awkwardly standing there. Reminds me of myself at Winter Formal in 10th grade.

And yeah, I want to see if he has any resets with those grabs. Throwing him on a team with Hsien-Ko, whether they like it or not.

Speaking of whom, I want to see if she has anything special to say to him.

And as for future thread titles, the video thread needs to be called “Seeing S.T.A.R.S.: The Nemesis Video Thread”

if this mofo dont say S.T.A.R.S he is forever roll teir.

It better be the same chilling STARS I heard on Res.3 back in 1999.

I’m just noticing that whiffing S. Special is not healthy for Nemesis, Nemesis’ looks great as a character but obviously fits in his own class of a hard-hitter and a tad slow (though he’s pretty fast for a hard-hitter). he’ll definetely need assists to help him out, An AA assist would greatly prevent the fear of Overheads. or a Haggar Lariat, if it wasn’t nerfed. But then again I don’t play Haggar so i may need to find another.

I was actually thinking he might be the perfect replacement for Haggar. Same ballpark even though Hulk is way better than Haggar at this time.

Yeah, his 5E looks very unsafe. Fortunately as shown in some of the vids, his bnbs don’t even need to seem to launch to get good damage. Wall bounce ftw.

Haggar is better than Hulk because of his assist* I do think Nemesis needs an effective assist to be effective against zoning characters. Exactly which one, we will have to wait and see.

*See Viscant

I wouldn’t compare him to Hulk unless he has super armor on his normals. So far the only move with super armor we’ve seen so far is his lv 1 punching attack.

You have a good point did you see that Nemesis combo he pulled on Hulk? 8 hits, boom half health gone to Hulk. and none of it a launcher.

Yeah, I think it’s a mistake (from what we’ve seen, anyway) to compare him to Hulk. All they have in common are their speed (which even then isn’t all that similar; Nemmy’s a Lightning Bruiser, to quote TVTropes) and their damage. They don’t even look like they’re in the same health tier. They seem to accomplish different things. Or rather, accomplish the same thing (SMASH!) through different means.

Wow. I’m overly joyed by that gameplay trailer. I was looking for a “tank” character for my 3rd team…mwahahaha

(Too bad there’s less health in UMvC3. Oh well. Even if this guy doesn’t have that much health, he looks like he has immense potential.)

I was going to specify that I meant “on point” but forgot to. My bad.
