(Ugh. Having to pseudo-resubscribe to things again is rather annoying.)
Are we still calling his rush super “Wall Destroyer”? I’m…vainly and bizarre honored a bit that this name I said in jest has stuck around this for this long.
…Or is that what’s actually called? Because I would have thought Seth would have mentioned what the proper name of some things were called by now.
I doubt “Ugly Motherfucker” will be that close if we’re depending on Yipes to call him something. We get lucky and he may call him “Dat Minty Sentinel” though if he notices the teeth thing as well. It’s difficult to tell with Sir Yipes.
We can pretty much call his “Wall Destroyer” I dont give a F**K because of the hyper armor, in fact we don’t know ANY of Nemesis’ moves. He’s more robotic than Sentinel being that he’s a monster of pure instinct and lacking human personality at least Sentinel says DIE and EXTERMINATE. So I can’t imagine Nemesis giving his moves names it’s probably something generic.
Went to New York Comic Con today. I was able to get quite a few matches in, and while there’s a lot about the new characters I don’t know yet, I can say one thing for certain: Nemesis is my new bro. Here are a few notes.
I made him my anchor for all my teams to put people away with basic OTG / x-factor cancel combos, and the damage was insane.
He may look clunky, but his normals felt extremely solid, not quite as lumbering as Sentinels S attacks and Hulk’s standing H.
From what I saw, Nemesis seemed to be the most used new character there other than Vergil. Draw your own conclusions about why that may be
He may have his drawbacks, but it’s really nothing crippling. It’s safe to say he’ll have a spot on my team next month…
Nope. They were giving away free shirts if you won your match, so everyone (including me) were just using level 1s and basic stuff to win. That, and meter seemed like a bit more of a commodity this time around. Maybe that was just me though. It seemed like everyone was a bit mashier than normal.
Nemesis is slow, yes, but it seemed like it really wasn’t as big of an issue because of how he controlled the pace with his normals and A.clothesline. In this way, he actually felt a bit more like Dormammu than Hulk, if that makes sense. I dabbled a bit with Iron Fist, and found I had a much harder time getting in with him than Nemesis.
The only real issue I see is, of course, that most of his normals and rockets hit high. Get yourself a low hitting assist, and you should be golden. I’ll be trying some more stuff today…
Another potential air tech setup comes from the upwards sweep rocket launcher attack. I don’t know the command for it, but it’s the one where he goes RRGH and swings his RL upwards like an uppercut. The opponent can air tech recover from that one at a nice height for a command throw attempt.
Alright back from NYCC and I played allot of Nemesis to put it bluntly I love him, he does great damage and didn’t feel sluggish at all. The hitboxes on j.H j.S are massive, I stopped Maximum Wesker with a j.H and did not get hit out of it.
He can do a full magic series I think if you do c.:l: c. s.:h:, c.:h: I think is too slow to combo off of normally. If the opponent goes behind Nemesis during his rocket super Nemesis will fire the rest of his shots blindly instead of turning around but the stomp will still track. In fact the rocket super is so iffy that I literally DODGED a rocket by jumping over it and Nemesis proceeded to miss when I was playing against one, then again using the Rocket super randomly like he did was very unsafe. His c.L I actually used allot for poking.
I had a hard time DHC’ing after the rocket stomp to make myself safe, either i input the command wrong or I just couldn’t do it.
The clothesline rocket follow ups do pretty good damage if both hit, however difficult or you cannot follow up after the rocket hits unless your in the corner I think. The rocket actually is useful if the punch is pushblocked.
**THE ASSISTS WERE NOT ARMORED **
I tested this and unless I messed up I had my friend call in Nemesis for both the Clothesline and RL slam, Nemesis was hit out of both with one hit.
LEVEL 3 DOES NOT TOUCH AIR
it was looking like it but this is pretty much confirmed I jumped at a Nemesis in the corner who then used his level 3, the animation played but I was not grabbed, nothing happened.
XF Level 3 Nemesis IS CRAZY
Sorry I did not manage to see if Nemesis regular grabs can be comboed off of. I must’ve forgot
I think his dragon punch and his Tentacle grabs have the worst recoveries PLEASE do not whiff them lol, all i’m going to say about those. Pretty basic Nemesis BnB went like
j.H c.L c.M s.H QCF + L (dash) c.L S SJ j.M j.M j.H j.S QCF + ATK ATK
(I’m kinda surprised that Nemesis doesn’t say S.T.A.R.S. to Wesker. Then again, I suppose the RE3 Nemesis was different from the RE1 Tyrant that gutted Albert.)
Thank for the videos, OnlyWingedAngel. It’s rather sad that the most prominent thing I noticed from those videos is how stupidly fast Ghost Rider’s b+:h: looks. That guy seems like he’s going to be such a problem for…everyone, at least initially. Huzzah for obvious online whoring!
Good to know that j. :h: covers him as well as it looks.
Somewhat dismaying, but expected. The Rocket Hyper always looked like it had lag that was bad as Maximum Spider or Burst Time, if not worse, if you missed, but at least it can OTG from a distance unlike either of those, so you shouldn’t really be missing it or randomly throwing it out. It might have problems DHC’ing into it, though, like with Maximum Spider, which is what worries me more.
This is great news. Does that mean its rapid-fire? Or just that it’s solid?
Hmm…this too worries me, though I really wouldn’t be that surprised if one of those supers that you have to super cancel out of (well) before the super screen ends.
The rocket could still generally but ducked, though, right?
Profound .-ness. I guess those changed from earlier builds like Viewtful Joe’s eventually cut Red Hot Kick OTG; I really wouldn’t be surprised if they thought Level 3 touching the air was too good, especially since his dashes are looking like they have deceptive speed for his size and it would literally be inescapable in the corner. Or does it not start-up invincibility like Wall Destroyer?
I’m guessing you weren’t able if hits behind him as well, correct? Actually, nevermind; I’m not even sure how (or if) you could tell that given how auto-correct works.
Accepted. I’m guessing we’re talking damage here, primarily? Or other things like his speed in that mode?
THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS IN MY HEART FOR FAILURE!
Good to know. Do we know Nemesis’s entire movelist now?
Pfft. I’m going to whiff them all the time just so that I cancel into Wall Destroyer and destroy people’s faces since Nemesis gives neither a fuck nor a damn about anything.
So noted. I have to wonder how much damage that does if simpler combos were taking off like 65-70% off some characters.
I kept thinking this was the command for his level 3. I would normally call this a fail, but I recall killing a couple characters with it anyway. So, you know, whatever works.
I believe I remember Deadpool ducking under one once, but generally people aren’t going to duck it since they’re not used to it, at least not this early. But yes most characters can just crouch under them.

Neither his level 3 nor do his assists have armor or start up invinciblity

His normals seem instant in XF but his recovery is more or less the same (albeit slightly faster of course) however the damage is INSANE.

I could not for the life of me figure out how to do solo rocket launcher attacks, I think it must be like :f: or like :qcb: :atk: or something.

this could work, now I know why nobody did Wall Destroyer, nobody knew how to freaking do it and under pressure Dragon punch input mess ups are bad lol.
QUITE ALLOT I ASSUME
Just in case the videos get buried in UMvc3 thread i’ll post them here as well
Just noticed btw I didn’t use any “Help me get in” assists while playing as Nemesis, very interesting; but I will recommend space controlling assists anyways only more to his game. I tried to do some Nemesis basic combo and then OTG assist but Ghost Rider’s postioning with Heartless Spire was a bit new to me (I was used to Wesker hitting just about anywhere with his OTG assist) So I couldn’t get it in properly.
