Lets say he likes to psycho crusher out of the vortex. Neckbreaker?
EX Psycho Crusher? Hopefully he’s not reacting to the Kunai, because if you do a safe-jump and bait it, you can cleanly punish with Hashinsho if you get the timing down. However you can switch sides before throwing your Kunai which makes it impossible for him to do so.
Either that or you can do OS EX Kazegiri (not sure if Raida is consistent enough). But yeah the idea is that if you throw a Kunai he’s out for free, but not if you switch sides before throwing one. When you mentioned Vortex I didn’t think just the Kunai, since Ibuki’s Vortex includes anything that potentially puts her back into the same knockdown.
Izuna, any insights on how to be 100% sure to switch sides when you thow your kunai? I’m working on that right now so if you have any advice
Just use Kasumi Gake to switch sides and do an IA Kunai. Mix it up with the option-select in the guide or do safe-jumps ambiguous cross-ups OSd with EX Kazegiri or Raida. When he doesn’t have meter you don’t need to switch sides.
If you see Bipson go for the headstomp followup, just neckbreaker. It’ll lower your hitbox and either catch him or slide you to safety.
Imo you should treat LK scissors as a poke. A somewhat slow startup, decent hitbox, completely safe on block poke with very good range. Now that you’ve made this realization, you should also notice that you have different options to counter it depending on spacing.
For example, at max range, Bipson will be hitting you only once, with the tip. Knowing this, you can FA it. You might also notice that he hits you with the tip of his boots as a somewhat low hit. Knowing this, you can use a normal to get you off the ground, like f+MK or f+HK.
At closer range, it’s a mindgame of his scissors kicks and his very good st.MK/st.HK normals. If you suspect a scissors kick, your best option is probably to cr.MP or st.MK to catch its startup and then buffer neckbreaker for the knockdown.
Besides those two examples, you can almost always neutral jump. You won’t always catch it because scissors kick has retardedly fast recovery, but neutral jump is generally a safe option anyways. At the very least he’ll be forced to block because he has no charge and no time to antiair.
He can always go for EX psycho; doesn’t matter if your kunai crosses up or not. He’ll just simply buffer the EX psycho charge + input and then press punches right when he gets up.
In my experiemnts, option select Raida never worked against wakeup EX psycho.
Hmm maybe not, perhaps when it worked I hit EX Knee Crush or something. Either way EX Kazegiri is the one to use. By the way, he can’t always do it. When I said cross him up, I’m talking about switching sides with Kasumi Gake before doing the Vortex.
One thing to be careful of when using ex kazegiri as on option select after safejump,it loses cleanly to ex headstomp( unsure of the exact name ).
One of my friend used this setup for bisons that tend to use ex pc, headstomp on wake. After neckbreaker whiff back mp, then jump hp, and option select another jump hp( the timing of this hp is really strict, needs to be as early as possible from the jump). If bison ex pc, you jump over him, if he ex headstomp you beat it with the jumphp clean. If he has U2 u most likely will get punished. Still need to test it more. Good bisons won’t ex pc or headstomp on wake generally unless making a read .
The matchup requires a lot of patience, just don’t rush. Take your time, know the ranges of his moves, and aim for the knockdown.
To be honest, I’ve never used OS EX Kazegiri haha. I don’t really go for knock-downs in this match-up unless he has no Meter.
Yep, especially when he has teleport handy. You can’t properly OS dictator due to his many escape options. You really have to make the good reads against him
Or just bait and punish on reaction like I do
How do you finish your combos then if you don’t go for knockdowns? TC10 resets all day?
Flowchart Freebuki : “cr.HK HK - jump MK to Target Combo LP MP cr.HK HK - do it again” FTW.
cl.st.Roundhouse resets and st.Strong frame-traps/tick-throws all day man. I rarely use TC10 resets unless I wanna mes about.
Also I like using Kazegiri since it sets up meaty pressure should they quick stand.
So basically Bipson suddenly has no escape options just because you go for resets and techable knockdowns?
Fixed.

Kazegiri knockdown isn’t really a mindfuck, and comboing into cl.st.HK is difficult. I’m not talking about the st.MP , cl.st.HK 1f link, but that you rarely have opportunities to land a cl.st.HK outside of Bipson jumping at you.
Yeah of course, but HK Kazgiri into HK Kasumi Gake puts you on the other side, and doing an overhead immediate makes you safe to like all Reversal options besides Ultra 1 and EX Knee Crush. It actually hops over the Reversal EX Psycho Crusher. But anyway what I mean was that if I do the Vortex prior to when he has meter, I’ll go unto the st.HK stuff. One more hit you get a Stun so why not go for scary meaty pressure?
And of course after EX Neckbreaker the Shoto Unblockable puts on good pressure too. Neckbreaker on reaction to the teleport, otherwise just use it as a safe jump and OS nothing.
nah, the most damaging flowchart is cr.HK HK - jump HP - cl.st.HP HP cr.HK HK - repeat till enemy is stunned or dead.
when i started ibuki with release of AE (never played ssf as it was never released on PC) i abused that so hard that got to 2000pp by just spamming this against different noobs and idiots.
j.hp - cl.st.HP HP cr.HK HK - j.hp - cl.st.hk - j.hk stuns almost entire cast.
