Bringing Knives to a Fistfight! Ibuki Strategy and Match-up Thread

Yeah but when you OS your inputs are also reversed so you may get a Raida, and you may also neckbreaker the other way. I think it’s better to give Seth the risk.

I’m back at home so I’ll try to play some of you guys. Tomorrow I’ve got a crap load of video-editing to do. Don’t really want to think about it.

Seth’s teleport has some “invincibility”. Your Raida is just going to whiff, and you might get punished.

Well yeah, which is why I said don’t OS.

I haven’t messed around with option selects for unblockables, but theory-fighter speaking, wouldn’t option select command dash be an okay compromise between os and no os?

Theory-fighter-ally speaking, if he teleports away, you dash up closer and probably close enough to punish his teleport recovery. If he teleports in the same spot or behind you, you dash up to point blank and you should definitely be able to get a free combo. If your inputs fuck up, then you get Tsumuji which is okay to whiff.

Playing ANY rushdown characters (who’s not yun/yang) is fun for Ibuki. I especially love the Ibuki v. Guy matchup. It makes the game feel x10 faster and more exciting, as opposed to just turtling at mid-range, playing footsies.

Playing someone who knows how to fight Ibuki is like a revelation. It forces you to stop going for the gimmicks and rely on a more conservative style of play to get in damage…as opposed to just abusing the vortex on guys who have no idea which way to block, or what their options are.

Instant focus+dash is a godsend in this match, assuming Seth doesn’t know any option-selects to beat it.

I can’t believe how much trouble I have playing against Ken. And its extremely frustrating to loose against a good Ken, because the opponent never seems to have trouble playing, looks like it’s really easy for him to play.
I’ll have to work on that matchup as well, now that I finished training against Ryu

fuck ken.

Hmm I don’t know. I’ve always wondered if doing an option-select would get you hit by certain hurt-box changing Ultras. Like with C.Viper, I almost never option-select against any good ones because otherwise they can just do EX Siesmo faint and the OS will come out.

Unblockalols.

Also, mash backdash.

Yesterday I won against a 17k BP Akuma, who’s ranked #3 in Xbox Live.

I just missed one thing after the win:

 Can I fight you with my Akuma?

Whenever you want, I really need to get used to this character.

I’m happy cause these times I’m training against every character I have trouble with. Cuongster is gonna train me against Honda, Will2Pac against viper, WDM Jimsss against Ken… Matchup knowledge is increasing

Play my Akuma lolol.

-Hi guys, I managed have some free time off of school and work to play @ Super Arcade at weekend :]. Technika 3 release @ Super so I went with friend to play, but I got to play AE while waiting in line! =]. I got to play against a super good Chun-Li player and own me constantly but gained some stuff from losing :[. I am having trouble with the Chun Li match up at the moment mainly because of her poking and safe moves. It is hard for me to get in on her and start my mixup [maybe I am just scared? >:(]. And I don’t like that ex spinning bird kick too >:[. FAing did not work too well in my favor a lot too. I try to fish with cr. strong buffer L. tsumuji or neckbreaker when I get hit confirm but it is hard for me sometimes. I don’t know why but I am have trouble with lots of the charge chars. >:[ bipson, chun, honda; I am sorry =[. Can anyone give little further advice? Thank you in advance everyone; I appreciate your guys response!

-I also tried out to play UMVC3 there and got owned by amazing player :{.

Would this chun-li player happen to wear a glove on his hand? Yeah he’s pretty good.

It’s a difficult matchup for sure, but it helps to do her cr.strong option-select into neckbreaker. Learning to focus her hazanshu on reaction can help start to build your offense against her. A solid chun-li will keep you out with her superior pokes and anti-airs, but it helps you build your own ground game and look for creative ways to land the UKO. Be sure to learn your safe-jumps against chun-li, since it can often be difficult to get the kunai to hit her during her EX SBK.

No he isn’t that guy never learns. Look at his hands when he’s in a block string. He’s either mashing crouch tech or ex legs.

I’m at Super Mondays-Thursdays since I have class those days, but I’m not there for long maybe an hour since I’m there inbetween classes. So I don’t know if we’ll see each other since you’re there on the weekends. Maybe after finals when I have time I can help you out.

Ummm I do not recall a name but he his name on the arcade mode top score thing as AES with #1 points on screen ( ゚ Д゚)! I am going to keep working on this matchup though. I find that once I get in though, it is VERY fun because I get to choose what I want to do hehehe! And yes safe jumps I plan I will work on! Thank you for response :]

That is fine, it is very hard for me to try and go on weekdays because of schedules and school. I have finals as well! (・∀・). But yes, when winter break starts I will come down much more often to level up! It would be great to get help from people in person! edit; oops sorry if not referring to me

What happened to Balthier’s post?

Oh that’s Howard. He’s not bad and a pretty cool guy as well.

Finals is next week and so is SCR. I wish I had enough time to practice for it :frowning: hopefully my money doesn’t go to waste. Aris told me if I don’t get top 8 I’m banned from the arcade lol

I move it to Frame traps and OS because I thought it fit better there

Regards!!
