Bringing Knives to a Fistfight! Ibuki Strategy and Match-up Thread

I’m more surprised that you can actually play this game 129 times in a row. Props for that.

EX kunai?

Fun fact (I’m sure you already know this): if the Gouken you play are brainlessly mashing parry every time you use jump okizeme, you can use HP kunai to purposely whiff, land/recover before his parry recovers and then get a free combo. Or you can use EX kunai to recover a bit faster.

Either way, as long as you okizeme without vortex or safe jumps, Gouken is free.

i bait it, then U1 in their face. so much profit

Bait it then tsumuji loop (340dmg, 483stun). Save the ultra for randomness unless you really need the damage (501dmg, fully stocked).

i dont rely on hard execution combos online and i play online only. prefer guaranteed damage over possible one.
so even lowest u1 is better in terms of damage than any other easy-to-do combo. besides, u1 leads me to safe jump follow-up

Safe jump against Gouken? You know he has a parry right? Yeah I guess you can do empty jump mixups, but I still think such mixups are stronger off a neckbreaker knockdown.

Hello everyone, I hope this isn’t the wrong play to ask but I play Adon and have no clue on how to block the kunai mixup after a knockdown.

Is there any way to know when it crosses up? I got bodied in a tournament by the same guy twice since I didn’t know what to do on wakeup.

Don’t get knocked down.

So is this thread abandoned also?

I don’t think anything new has been discovered, unless you’d like to add something?

I’m just wondering why the original post hasn’t been updated since this thread has been made.

I don’t know if this is considered “new” or not, but EX Neckbreaker > LK cd > SJ > LK is an unblockable against Seth and Vega. Also, against Balrog you can do safe jump OS Sazan (df+mk) to go under his EX headbutt and punish with Neckbreaker, haven’t tried it on a delayed headbutt though. Again, sorry if this ain’t new.

EDIT: SJ after the LK cd not normal jump

I’d have to try that unblockable setup.

You’d might as well just option select command dash to go through headbutt. Should be a larger window/easier I think, but I could be wrong. Or you could just aim your j.HP a little farther so that everything Boxer does will whiff (headbutts and dash punches) and then you can just option select neckbreaker to catch everything.

Lol I thought it was common knowledge since most people do lk to super jump anyways after ex neck, maybe people just don’t know that is crosses up still? lol. But yeah, real useful against Seth since it’s

I think I remember that Vega can U2 Ibuki when she goes for this though since he moves back a lot or something, been a while since I messed with it.

I’m sure every Ibuki veteran knows sj.LK will cross up, but it being an unblockable is common knowledge? TheNooby how did you find this anyways lol.

Claw can indeed U2 Ibuki, but after some training room research, I found a timing to keep the unblockable but still make the U2 whiff. It requires a nonmeaty setup (so Ibuki will stay in the air longer when Claw activates his U2), but I don’t think many Claws will want to forward dash out of such ambiguous setups anyways.

Actually I can’t seem to make it perfectly meaty and still be an unblockable. At least the good news is that only Claw can forward dash out (Seth’s dash is too slow). The bad news is that since I can’t seem to make it meaty (maybe just me?), you’ll probably be hitting Claw crouching, which is bad since TC4 whiffs on Claw crouching even on hit. Should be fine for Seth I think. Just watch out for EX Kicks, but who does wakeup EX kicks anyways.

Lastly, this setup won’t crossup on Sagat.

You should be able to block ex kicks though. Unless you’re option selecting neck breaker, I don’t see why you’re getting hit.

So I played iiPeru’s Fuerte for a while a couple days ago. That unblockable he has on Ibuki is pretty fucking gay.

focus back dash is your friend

I swear it seems like he can just do it whenever. Is it supposed to work on wake up only? Cause that wasn’t the case.

You can block it for sure, but the problem is that cuz of it’s slow ass startup, you might find yourself accidentally going straight for TC4 without first checking if the sj.LK hit or not.

You mean the f+MK unblockable?

Why don’t you just jump in with MK then? I rarely use tc4 anyways.

I don’t know much about fuerte. That stupid flip shit where he can combo jab after.
