Don’t know if its been mentioned before but Seth’s Sonic Boom can’t hit Abel in U2 for some reason, like it’ll just pass by without damage
Blanka Rolls are still punishable on standing block and hit with U2
Sweep has better hitboxes, but again not gdlk
if it works on hit then it should work whether u block standing or crouching. what about on counter hit? i doubt it but did u try that?
have u guys found any setups with u2? im in training mode right now. 
well since u cant combo U2 there arent really any set ups… besides punishing whiffed moves etc.

You can link crouching jab into standing roundhouse without counter hit. Before you could only combo close standing roundhouse into standing strong, and even then it was still character specific.
I played tonight.
U2… Meh. I was able to land it a bunch of times… but… I was just throwing it out there. That’s just not my style. You guys might love an Ultra to enhance your randomness… I don’t.
I’ll mess around with it some more just to see how it works in match-ups, and I’m still interested in the punishing properties of the move, but the whole “it’s quick… I’m just gonna throw it out, and hope my opponent pressed a button” aspect of it is really not for me.
You can do this in normal SF4 too - I use overhead, cr.lk xx super - works on everyone
u could do that in vanilla sf4 also. was hoping you found a new combo into st.rh, that wouldve been awesome.

I should mention this: Abel’s U2 loses cleanly to virtually all other ultras, especially ones that move forward. So U2 is completely ineffectual against, say, Cammy when she has ultra. Probably Ryu too (though I don’t think he’s ever scared of U2… hold up and air tatsu out of there). Stuff like Ken’s U2 goes off the ground and Abel can’t grab him. You could only use this ultra against them when you have ultra and they don’t. Not really a good plan imo.
I think it will be great against, say, Gief. Maybe a few other matches. Knocking them down and just throwing it out is hard, because it’s easy for them to jump back or jump forward (out of range of the ultra, or over your head) unless your spacing is really tight. Some characters, like Ryu and Gouken, get it for free with no meter regardless of your spacing. Some characters, like Hawk, can break your armor for free. Akuma probably can as well, with EX demon flip palm (though he can obv just teleport for free). Maybe U2 will be okay as an anti-air? If that’s the case, though, just cr.HP or EX falling sky them. That said, I think U2 will be most effective against Gief. Even then, though… he can still guess right and land U1. So it’s a big gamble.
HAV, you were quite down on SF4, and SSF4 really isn’t all that different. Why are you suddenly so keen on playing this game?
I was the same way, only reason I played was cause Abel is a ton of fun. Don’t really care for SF4, but Super looks alot more fun. I might actually learn the game in depth this time.
If you’re close you can counter Guiles Ultra 2 with it (Breathless)

i like what i’m hearing about the french bastard. i used to main bison in sf4, but i’ve lately been drawn to abel just because of his feel. imo he feels like bison should have felt in that game. not much of a threat if you can keep him out, but once he gets in he can really fuck shit up if you don’t guess right. plus he can combo into ultra with either cr.fp or thorugh a fadc combo midscreen, which just makes footsies so much more fun.
while bison has gotten buffs, i hardly think it’ll ever get close to giving me that ssf2turbo bison feel that i love and always wanted.
so wish me welcome abel people. i’ll be posting suggestions for even gayer outfits or other things he doesn’t need.
btw he needs an airdash and a urien costume or a spandex thing with twelve’s head on top.

Loving the new Falling Sky…grabbed Adon out of last few frames of his Jaguar Tooth. I paused the game, placed my TE on the ground and did a “Yata!” like Hiro on Heroes! Spent the rest of the night just grabbing everything…OH BOY!

Not that I play Abel, but I think you all have the wrong kind of mindset for Breathless. It seems like a midscreen punish tool or something, not a Gief U1. Even moreso with armor, since you can just bust through shit. How many hits can it take anyway?
