Breathless... SUPER Abel Match Theory Thread

LOL @ difficulties.

Strider just said to block. Having to block something doesn’t mean he has “difficulties”… it just means people need to block. Blocking is a very good option in a lot of situations… It’s a shame so many players ignore it… Or, like here, see it as a sign of weakness.

Does the breathless cancel use ultra meter? Or Does he still keep it

its not really like a damage nerf remember every1 does a certain amount of damage in this game when is comes to FADC-ing into ultra

the earlier rumor was 450, which was a nerf of 100 damage. most characters still have 500+ damage ultra combos, if Abel’s does 520 then that is totally fine.

You make it sound like not having an unthrowable reversal is a bonus.
Having to block when many other chars can choose between blocking OR FADCing that shit into ultra/safeness IS A RELATIVE WEAKNESS which our opponent can and will exploit. Now I know braindead scrubs that think it’s their goddamn right to have mashable reversal with every character ae annoying, but it doesn’t change the fact that having to block more is a relative weakness / difficulty / call it what you want. :wink:

i have to agree with HAV i’m sticking with U1, yes U2 damage and everything is good but personally i’m so use to it & i always keep saying to myself i gotta set shit up and there are way too man armor breaking moves in this game for me to just keep that 1 it was really good against gief last nite but that’s another story lol

I’m not saying it’s a bonus… I’m saying blocking is just fine too. I think everyone would do better to block more.

Having DP -> FADC as an option is just as exploitable as not having it, IMO. I base much of my game around fucking people up for thinking DP-> FADC is a good idea.

Lacking a braindead option (that, itself can be baited and heavily punished) is not a weakness, IMO… not even a relative weakness. If DP-> FADC was as good as people like to think it is… then sure… but that shit can be baited and punished just like anything else. Not having it forces players to actually be engaged while on the defensive, which makes defense stronger, IMO.

Blocking > Not blocking, IMO.

pretty sure u lose the meter. the ultra activates and the meter should be wasted (just like any other move). if you still keep meter then that would mean u can just ultra, cancel,ultra cancel and timer scam.

honestly when the ultra bar is full i believe he still does i’m not too sure tho

Breathless sounds like one of the single most broken moves ever in a street fighter-game.
And I don’t see how blocking is a difficulty when 80% of the things you block are going to be punishable with breathless?
Whenever I play against Abel now, no matter character, I pretty much have to accept the fact that I have 480 less health from the get go.

Played around with Super Abel for a while today… I like U2, but not directly because of the damage.

U2 scares people.

Once U2 is built up there are alot of things opponents won’t want to do anymore. The person I played against wasn’t that good at all but there were some things I could still learn.

U2 after blocked ryu cr.hk works. It’s not hard apart from reversal timing but that’s not hard really. Kills part of ryu’s zoning game. I don’t want to get into more examples like lariat etc but that gives an idea of the speed. It does NOT work on blocked cr.mk, fireball on block as I thought I read somewhere, or on Ken after heavy tatsu on hit… or on block. What it DOES do though is provide a situation where the opponent will feel inclined to act afterwards. It creates a mind game similar to I guess akuma’s demon setup. Problem is that thanks to abel’s TT opponents are already pretty likely to neutral jump anyway. I can see shenanigans like roll, fadc back ultra etc already in my mind. Stupid crap that will work if you get caught sleeping. So offensively, it’s dumb.

Defensively though it’s solid, if just to mind fuck the opponent.

Sweep IMO does not feel faster. Range is better but it’s not GDLK like everyone says with speed etc.

I tried a late ex FS on deep ryu j.hp and it traded. Tried it on a light and it worked.

i think right now the reason ppl are scared of U2 is because theres still a lot of unknown stuff about it, dont get me wrong i acknowledge how good his U2 is but people are forgetting how his U1 has always been crazy good.

yeah it seems like U2 is more towards defensive use though it can also be used as an offensive tool, on an untechable wakeup maybe? while U1 is more towards offensive since its comboable, still also can be used defensively to punish a lot of moves.

anyway someone with the game, test U2 immediately after blocking the first hit of ex sbk?
