I’ll have to test this I guess, but in theory, this sounds like it would lose to Dive Kick all day.
For that option select to block and tech grabs, you must have to input that very late. If you’re doing it late, I don’t see how a move as slow as Low Fierce, input late, can possibly stop Dive Kicks, unless the Rufus is just really sloppy. I’ll test it though… I find it hard to believe we all just missed something that simple though.
The best you could hope for by sticking that OS out during divekick pressure is to trade the cr.HP and buy some space. If you’re going to be sticking out normals during divekick pressure, be it as an OS or not, you don’t want anything slower than a cr.MP. cr.MP is probably the best option after cr.jab.
^I think he means standing fierce, not crouching fierce. And that’s been discussed before.
Not sure if we’re on the same level. You said Rufus can’t do much because of Abel’s AAs. That’s not correct. I guess it is correct if he just jumps right at you, but mind you, he has a dive kick that can space out his next jump or his next move, thus it’s still difficult to AA Rufus’ dive kick. There are times where you shouldn’t even attempt to AA it and you just have to sit there and block. So Rufus CAN get around Abel’s AA in a LOT of creative ways.
For Abel to negate the dive kick pressure from Rufus, Abel has no clear cut answer. OS throw/s.fierce, but, you may get a c.jab/short. Jump back fierce, but you may eat a jump forward roundhouse. So on, so forth. You have to read your Rufus opponent carefully. And that’s even more difficult to do when you’re in the corner (which isn’t hard for Rufus to do).
You can’t really OS s. Fierce with throw. If you press Fierce+Jab+Short, you’ll get a throw. If you press Fierce slightly before you hit Jab+Short, you’ll just get a Fierce, and you won’t be able to tech any grab, so you might as well just hit Fierce.
There is no good OS for Rufus Dive Kick pressure. OS’ing Low Strong is OK… but not really worth using, IMO.
I don’t know how it exactly works since I don’t use it myself, but others have said that they use it and it works. Maybe it’s not a true OS. Maybe it t just puts your fingers ready for a late tech, and fierce asap if he goes for another dive kick and it works when you press in rhythm of Rufus’ hits? I remember reading about it in one of these Abel threads. Maybe someone else can elaborate. =p
played andyocr today… i’m stumped now with the bison matchup. bison just has too many safe stuff. when you play footsies with bison, it kinda feels like playing footsies with akuma. annnd that’s all i got. i dont know how to read his safe jump (jump in fierce, which looks like it’s going to cross you up if he pulled out a jump in short/rh) and cross up PC. just feels like one of those matchups you gotta take in slowly. there’s not a lot of “mixing up” abel can do. =[
You can’t really play footsies with Bison. Best you can do is focus dash through a limb xx TT or combo.
Eliminate charges and option select the shit out of him lol
close st RH xx buffer qcf motion
Covers pretty much every option. You just have to react to headstomps and devil reverse, which can be reacted to with a roll easily because you’re buffering qcf.
Hey Nick. What knockdown are you doing this after? That setup also loses to EXPC, right?
After I land TT I usually try to cross Bison up. If he does EXPC, you’ll block it and you can punish him with ultra.
If he does stomp or EX devil reverse, he can get away, but you can also option select falling sky into your crossup to catch him (but that’ll lose to other shit).
