Yipes said that if he were to run into a Seth that he would most likely lose. I never got a chance to go over that match-up with him.
Marn also to Floe that Yipes is one of the best SSF4 players period. I don’t dispute that. He just lacks match-up knowledge. His whole pool at ECT consisted of Rufus’, Boxers and Dr.Chaos’ Adon, which he adapted and beat after getting destroyed in game 2.
I agree with Havoc. ECT2 had a lot of great Abel representation with Yipes making it the furthest. It’s unfortunate that I decided not to go.
I feel like whenever I lose to a Seth, Viper, or ELF, it’s usually cause I’m mindfucked and am too distracted with their mixups rather than taking the time to actually read wtf is going on. Well, less with Viper cause I think I have enough experience against her under my belt, but it happens sometimes. That’s what it looked like when I watched Yipes go against Seth, but you said he didn’t have much matchup experience, so, its cool to know that he was adapting. I got butt raped when I first played a good Seth. ugh.
I do not mind the Seth match my buddy has a really solid seth its just learning how to block his dive kick cross ups and when to backdash away from his command grabs then punish with f+mk. You only have to land 2 combos to put him away really and now with the nerf to his jumping fp(his best A-A not sure if it was back fp or mp) it is easy for abel to air to air him. So no I believe Abel seth is at most 5-5 just stay smart and falling sky some limbs to get him close or wait for them they usually always come after you.
Patience. You gotta be even more patient, get Guile in the corner it will take longer but you can still do it.
Guile is more of a threat in general but I don’t think the match ups really changed just got a little harder because Guiles got better but you can still rush him down after a knock down. Not sure about Breathless in this match up Guile has a shitty jump arc I guess but he can still armor break and U1 stops Guiles becoming predictable with sonic booms.
So after coming back from ECT I realized now that I do not know the honda matchup for the life of me. Basically I got semi far n.jp hp shenanigans and lost. Anything you can do besides U2 and ex.cod?
need more patience and guess right when it comes to kara throw/shoryu guessing game, sure there are some factors that can be considered to help with the guessing but smart players know that too and proceed to mindfuck me .
ex fs the neutral jump fierce’s, if he keeps doing it get in the right range, cr.mk. the more you hit him out of it the more he will realize he cant keep doing it.you dont have to waste meter just cr.mk it or if u are close ex falling sky etc.
Yeah, Free1up’s Ken just ran a fucking truck all over me. Spamfest of shorts/jabs, and if I somehow managed to break the flow, there was always the trusty light shoryu.
i can beat a solid ken if i played him for a coupla rounds and somehow get a feel of his style/habits etc … still requires a lot of work and not really a foolproof method. on the other hand, to win against a solid ken i know nothing about, that requires some luck in guessing imo.
I hate asking noob questions
played a Blanka last night and had him on the ropes until he did shout of earth, the ground version. I did my ultra right away and got hit out of it. Will EX wheel kick beat Blanka’s U2? or am I forced to sit, block, then punish? It would chipped me out if I had to block the whole thing…
