Seth vs Abel is a tough match because Seth can really lock down a lot of the screen at basically every range. He has no health but actually pinning him down to do some damage is not easy vs a good Seth. He’s got basically every type of offensive option in the game to keep you on your heels for most of each round.
How do you guys slow him down enough to get your damage?
Learn how to shut down Seth’s jumps… that’s the most important part. use falling sky to grab his arms, neutral or jump back fp what you can, close fierce to stop some of his weird jumps. Once you force him to the ground, you can bully him more because his footsies are on the poor side. You can always hit him with f+mk, s.fp so that IMO becomes a big priority in this one.
You want to get one knockdown and then one or two right guesses right after that because its all you need. If Seth didn’t do so little damage and have so low vitality, this fight would be heavily advantaged to him. I still think he has a big edge but that’s just me.
U2 would work for sure, U1 might be too slow. If you can block, you might as well jump, because he can control that shit and potentially get behind you. If you absolutely have to block for some reason…take your best guess and make sure to block low.
That’s a good question - which ultra would be preferred for this match? U2 is better for punishing, but being able to cr. hp headstomps for a free ultra is nice as well.
Block low? I thought Bison’s U2 is an overhead. I prefer U1 in against Bison, but I can see both ultras being just as useful. Kinda like in the Honda matchup.
I prefer U1 against bison since its more useful imo.
Lotsa ways to land cr.hp against bison, be it from crossups into CoD, AA cr.hp, wakeup roll meaty(esp when he has no meter), ex CoD his pokes fadc… etc.
Or maybe i just havent really tested using U2 that much against him.
I think you can jump back hp dash forward and ultra 1 in time need to test it but it probably works, if you have to block then its a guess but a good Bison would prefer the cross up I think
How is jump back fierce into ultra possible? Is Bison in a juggle state after being hit out of U2? If so, I can see that but just hitting someone out of the air with j.HP wouldn’t put them into a jugglable state.
What’s the deal with this setup? How does it work?
Its not really combo into ultra, j.hp deals with the ultra if the bison decided to crossup/go to the other side, but if the bison landed in front of you(thus makin ur jump back hp whiff), you might have the time to dash punish with ultra (i didnt say this but thats what those people meant imo)…
yeah so basically the point is, theres no need to block bisons U2, a good bison is going to combo into it… ive seen bison used it to chip finish someone off but that shits aint safe at all… so yeah, if he does U2 outside of combo, j.hp that shit, or follow up with whatever punish you like if the j.hp whiffed and he landed close to you.
anyway its like my mind is playing tricks on me but st.hp does a shit ton of damage against guile
i did well using U2 against my friend’s boxer a few days ago, though maybe its due to the style of the player i played against combined with lack of knowledge/strategy to deal with U2 but on his wakeup - outside throw range and delay a little bit(in case of reversal headbutt), U2 rapes most of his options… sure he can cr.lp lp combo you into headbutt… thats why i said “most” lol…
not gonna make it sound to good or anything though, i still find myself using U1 wayyy more than U2.
hfz i like U2 in the boxer match up, once u get meter you can stop his dash punches (with good reactions) in general though i like U1 over U2 (i use U1 more than U2)
I am in equal confusion on this point I think Bison’s ultra recovers fairly fast at least a lot faster then it takes to jump back HP dash forward?(why would you do this) then ultra 1.
As for U2 against boxer it also stops his jumping hp/rh which is nice.
Playing Bison today I realized that his U2 really really does recover quick
Either way if his health is low (which it probably will be if hes throwing out random ultras), jump back hp and your counter hit will probably end up killing him. If his health is pretty high you can just jump and do nothing then when you land ultra straight except the timing is strange you have to ultra really quick.
