I’m prob not gonna update until after I get a couple more tournaments under my belt. As of right now, I’ve done one Ranbat, and a bunch of PSN play. Not enough to really get in depth yet. I’m gonna start after ECT probably. I’ve got some thoughts now, but I don’t know how accurate they are since I haven’t faced too many legitimate specialists with most characters.
If other players do feel comfortable calling matches one way or the other, post up though. I’d like to see how others see some of these fights.
yea links in this game are pretty brain dead now, but they didnt fix the hitboxes completly but im ok with that as an abel player because of all the meaty buffs abel got
I hope you’re not talking about Gief when you mention 5-5 match-ups, it is still very much 7-3 imo
What made that match-up near impossible was that Abel couldn’t do shit when Gief would just walk forward. That hasn’t changed. U2 made it a bit better, and it helps that his lariat isn’t OP anymore, but its no where near even.
yeah Gief is still bad. It could still well be 7-3 because Gief’s oki against Abel still ends lives. Hawk could possibly be that bad too but I haven’t played against either one seriously in SF4 yet
cant disagree on giefs oki still fucks abel up for free
though to be honest i cant really see myself havin a sub character… sure i might play other chars for fun etc, but im only focusin on maining abel, plus i dont have the time to learn everyone…
So step kick into close fierce whiffs on all crouching characters now? Is it just ‘big’ characters that won’t whiff on?
On Ken for example, even if you hit the step kick the link into fierce whiffs. If he is crouched and you do the Cl.fierce alone it hits but I don’t recall this link whiffing in vanilla.
So if they are crouched and you land step kick what do you guys go for?
This is messing me up. Their hit box seems to change after a hit. I think the fierce whiffs even if they crouck block the f+mk.
Hmm, I have one gleaming bit o info for the Ken matchup if anyone hasn’t said it yet…do not…by any means…try to AA focus Ken when he has Ultra…upon releasing your focus(even after being hit) Ken will IMMEDIATELY start his Ultra and it will hurt.
Best thing to do against Ken is to stay in his face and don’t let him get to Crazy Kick range. That poke is damn good, I would suggest saving some EX meter so you can ex cod your way out, and throws are extremely good. Apparently the throws are beating out his jabs and shorts.
I aprove this post lol,i agree.i play everyone else for fun,i find myself using breathless even when souless would be a more viable choice lol probally because ive seen souless everyday for like a year and a half
I just wanted to pop in to say that Abel’s Ultra 2 might just be the best ultra in the game. Also funny how it does a better job of replicating the functionality (specifically, mind fuckery) of Ryu’s 3S Denjin Hadouken than Gouken’s Ultra 2, as wierd as that might sound.
ehh… as an akuma main and a abel secondary… I’d say its only like 5.5-4.5 akuma now. No loop or OS df throw makes ALL the difference in the world. Now rolling feels likes its a real option in the match-up. Its more of a “better player will win” situation now compared to before where if the akuma was good enough to perform the loop consistently then abel really got f-ed up into df throw OS stuff and heavily stunned from just a simple c.lk. I miss the loop but I don’t mind the match-up being more fair. Breathless doesn’t really change much against a good akuma.
