Meh there’s nothing really to panic about unless you pressed a button first. The ultra has 8 or 9 frames of start up and for a grab based ultra that’s pretty slow. Basically the ultra can only get u if you pressed a button like a c.MK or did some kind of special move that loses to the ultra on start up. Basically as long as you are playing more defensively once Abel has ultra you’ll be fine. If he activates the ultra and u didn’t press a button…especially as Juri you have a free way out everytime. Basically stop pressing buttons when u don’t need to and you’ll be ok. Especially since you’re already forcing Abel players to cancel the ultra that’s exactly what you want any ways. Just get away from them to make sure you’re safe.
How are you baiting the lp. shoryu ? The only way I can see Breathless playing a role here instead of Soulless is if you bait the shoryu with an EX roll after a blocked f+mk or something, which a) uses meter and b) loses to the same options as crouch block. LP shoryu is -17 on block - plenty of time to do walk up cr.hp into U1 if you’ve got it stocked.
As for HK roll baiting a throw… again, what situation are you using this ? HK roll loses to throw all day long, so unless you’re doing it early enough to be out of throw range by the time they react to it (which they’ll obviously be able to react to and NOT hit throw) I must be missing something.
Can we get a little more clarity on this ?
Soulles can punish blocked LP DPs too.
I love how on SRK so many can do so much flawlessly. It’s really amazing. This is the land where things are not only possible, but simple as pie; conveniently, it’s not necessary to actually back up anything with proof. Those from the “breathless sucks” camp would almost have one believe that it’s harder to get hit by the fucking move than avoid/counter it.
I gotta add here, that it’s much harder to bait certain characters in U2 the others.
characters who are not too hard to bait = shotos, sagat, rufus, guile
characters who are hard to bait = juri, bison, viper.
played D dollars online, his juri is not so easy to catch with U2. juri is a tough matchup, need to learn that, her normals are sick!! :looney:
Well its nothing really special really, its just that Breathless isnt useless against shotos thats all, as for “how” im baiting the shoryu, i guess its the same way you bait any other moves in the game, it depends on the match, im not stating any specific setups to bait any moves because there are plenty of ways to put pressure on your opponent and make them do a usually “safe” move and punish with breathless. I also pay attention to when they have enough meter to fadc to purposely put myself in a situation where a shoryu fadc is very likely.
As for the hk roll thing, for example, after a fs do lk roll and then hk roll, you’ll be at a range where if they tried to throw your roll you can punish with f.mk/breathless, some ppl might even lp shoryu. Of course the downside of this is that you might lose the momentum but yeah just one of the mixups you can apply. Basically its baiting your opponent to think that they can throw you out of your roll(which they cant because of your timing) or reversal whatever(which also gonna whiff because of your distance just outside the range of most reversals)…

p/s- i use U2 against guile too, its nice when he cant jump as freely anymore or punishing normal sonic booms 
arturo has played rounds against abels w/ seth where he never got hit except for 2x breathless and lost

edit: and i would bet on art to win, because its always smarter to bet on a person who wins tournaments than a man who acts out ultras irl.

I saw that match. Arturo had lots of help from KDZ on those Breathless ultras in that they were either activated at the wrong time, or Arturo was lucky enough to be coincidentally jumping when it was activated (in all cases it was activated at close range which makes avoiding it easier). We did not see what happened in a situation where KDZ used breathless in the way most players here are complaining about it: when it is charged, activated, and the opponent is forced to counter/avoid on reaction.
I love how sooooo many people are doubting Art and acting like he’s walking into a “Give Juicebox free money” match.
I know if Art wants to level up for something, he WILL make sure he’s ready.
