BREAKING NEWS from NYC Comic Con!

Crazy thing is that I can nail the FADC on a stick with no issue but everything else is a issue. Well its only Rekkas that I have a issue with and hitting wrong buttons at times. I just feel that I am progressing so much that if I go to a stick I have to learn the game all over. I am realy not in the mood for that at the moment

I don’t think Tenshin is bad. I also don’t think Tenshin is good. It’s not a reliable part of Fei’s game, is what I’m saying. You can only land it if the opponent doesn’t expect it in the slightest, or you had an awesome setups. All the setups require your opponent fucking up really. If Fei is close enough to you to land it straight up, you had 13 frames to hit him or do something other than just sit there blocking. If Fei did the setup off a jump in, you let him jump in. If fei did it off a jab, you let him get close enough to you to make you block a jab. Fei is NOT a hard character to get away from so honestly, I really do think you have to be scared to let him set it up. The only time this doesn’t apply is wakeup.

Yes it’s a good tool, yes it leads to good damage. You would be hard pressed to find someone landing this consistently though. If you think about other character’s special moves and how they use them, they are generally core parts of a characters game. Tenshin is NOT a core part of Fei’s game. It’s a trick that can only be used every once in a while, not something that changes the way he plays or helps define him as a character. I don’t mind having an extra tool to use now and then, but like I said, I sincerely do not believe that it’s a “good” move. It only falls into the realm of “you can use it sometimes”.

But you dont need to keep landing it for it to be effective.Landing it once or knowledge of what tenshin can do is enough for people to want to hold up back during a block string. If you watch the mago vs yhcmochi match you can see that mochi keeps trying to jump away after a blocked st.lp on wakeup and gets hit by st.mp.

I agree with Sam, but I have had experiences where after landing a tenshin or two, the opponent tries to jump out of it and gives me a free BnB. I do feel as Sam said it requires you to set it up, and relys on conditioning and fei’s ability to make the best out of the opponent allowing you to get in more then anything. The move does need an adjustment so we can throw it out more effectivly, but with tenshin having a very high damage potential (on certain chars) I think having the ability to throw it out like able does his would be alittle broken… I mean you have to feel for the chun’s, dudley’s, and cammy’s (among others) when you hit them with that close to 400dmg combo and not use any meter. Most of the chars on which that combo works have a lower vitality, now add that combo with being able to use it more frequently, you and everyone else knows a lot of people would cry… also why the hell does this not work on charge chars… now that would be awesome!

On another note… for anyone who may have missed the write up, AE edition adjustments are being released to the public, and fei along with other chars are being written up next week. So we don’t have long to wait to see whats gonna happen to him, and if we are going to have a whole bunch of band wagoners.

Well, in the sense that you can win without Tenshin and that the frequency of the move’s occurrence is low compared to any other move Fei has, I can agree that it’s not phenomenal. Its value is still there though, and because it’s available it does add more potential to Fei’s game, making him somewhat Zangief-like when he’s in your face.

I’d never prescribe to Tenshin on every jump-in or at every opportunity, but it’s not too hard to get those opportunities if you really wanted them. Lv2 Focus on block gives that +5 on dashing in and reaches nearly a half screen; getting a jump-in on the opponent after knocking him down with Rekkas, Flame Kick, and other tools also gives you that opportunity. Opportunities aside, it will still require you to convince your opponent that you don’t use it/you don’t know how to use it by way of not using it. But when the moment is right, it’s huge damage (30% and upwards) when you do need it.

Just sayin’ :wgrin:

i stand by wat nosone said, that lvl2 FA jab tenshin is now my go to tenshin setup, its got so much range off the fa.

BTW I actually noticed that Mazaa posted a video of this earlier on, but I never checked it out prior to posting about it. Credit should go to him for being so on top about experimenting with several of Fei’s tricks. Search Youtube or scour Sendmaster’s profile page to find it.

I’m really only started to incorporate more OS’s into my game recently and watching his videos has helped me visualize them better.
