See the reason I don’t want cr.MK cancel is that they’re going to nerf something pretty hard in return, let’s not kid ourselves
Well guys the new Capcom Dev blog in a few days will tell us what we think we already know from the interview with Seth or maybe a few extra surprises or maybe a few let down.
Also have you read how many more buffs poster boy Ryu got? Like wasnt good enough already? He wont be able to escape corner pressure as easy as before but with added damage and more normals into speacials just makes him better. I just wish Fei would get back his damage on cr.lp/lk to 30
EX Tenshin has the same range as jab Tornado Throw as it stands. The frame data is incorrect.
BUFFED DMG FOR RYU? ok i’ll enjoy being hit by everyday vanilla sagat uppercut now. hmm i’m jumping the gun on it but when I see “added dmg”, I think making ryu’s uppercut doing 30-50 more dmg then it already did. Seems to me ryu just took E.hondas added dmg from him lol. Only the shotos.
Ryu didn’t get anything special; probably better for us overall with what’s confirmed thus far. cl.MK isn’t used for anything because cr.HP does the same trick, without the disadvantage of range.
cl.HK has the benefit of being a better meaty attack, but overall I see it as a replacement for f+HP for Focus crumple punishes with better stun. The damage won’t be any different really. Aside from all of that though, do you see anything that will really benefit Ryu’s game vs Fei? Tatsu escape nerf and cr.MK nerf are bigger players than sheer damage output; those lost value in the fight and just made zoning/footsies easier.
Ryu’s damage buff was on one normal (cl.MK) that won’t really see much use, unless it’s buffed to the extreme. It’s a situational move where the situation doesn’t occur very often. If you play any Ryus, they probably don’t use this due to having to be close to use it, and having to cancel it to be safe.
You can say his EX Air Tatsu was “buffed” (when really it’s just being fixed), but it doesn’t help his game vs. Fei at all. Zero effect.
[edit] And LOL. That was probably the most over-the-top reaction to something you didn’t even confirm
yea i’ll just stand by and see what happens at the end, I just don’t want to see ryu anywhere near his vanilla form lmao I dealt with it for 1+ year heh, not trying to repeat it
Honestly man, if someone gets hit by Tenshin, they were probably sleeping. There are some good setups for it that happen situationally, but just because you saw it in a match doesn’t mean it’s too good. I’m sure there’s plenty of videos of Hakan raping people out there too, but that doesn’t mean he’s too good.
You can’t always make that claim. Tenshin works, but a big part of it is conditioning. The frame-tight set-ups aren’t easy to catch either, unless you abuse them throughout the match. Mixing in tick throws and such will force your opponent to try to tech grabs; that’s Tenshin food right there.
Defensively, there are only a couple of responses to a Tenshin frame trap, and those include pulling an invincible move, jumping, backdashing, or chancing an attack that makes you airborne (few normals do, and they’re usually slow). Really, the only one that’s safe is backdashing, and even then, there’s no guarantee that you’ll be totally safe. Sure, if I make it my goal to get Tenshin on you, you’ll expect it. But if I play around with frame traps, tick throws, and screw a bit with spacing, I can really make you think twice about doing something other than blocking and late teching.
But you already know this Sam–I know you do. Why do you think it’s so bad?
Its true what you and Sam say. Look at Inthuls fight at SB5 against Dieminion. He setit up 2 times he hit the first but the next time he went for the same link, Guile jumped away. I know Seth was fuckin with my head when he sad “It may be as fast as TT”. It this where true it would be better IMO. As I get better with Fei, I feel he is a very solid character. I would like his 30DMG back for LP/LK from vanilla but he is a very solid character all around.
As for the Ryu additions, give Daigo some time to learn something new with Ryu’s additions and it will spread across to every other Ryu player.
You might be surprised, but when I cancel Tenshin from a jab most people do not mash or jump out because when they get hit with a jab they think another jab or short is coming. Or they try to throw, and it doesn’t work.
For some reason while people are perfectly content to mash through blockstrings, I rarely encounter anyone who tries to mash through jabs and shorts. If I ever screw up my Fei BnB I rarely get smacked with a reversal, most people are blocking. Don’t know why.
Yeah tbh if you mix your offense up with frame traps , Baits ,tick throws , option selecting backdashes , late cancel/meaty tenshins ,Overheads etc etc the opponent can get seriously mind-fucked , Fei has a Serious Oki game which i think is almost on the same level as abel /akuma . Tenshin can seriously cause ppl to shit their pants , just have to pick and choose the moments where you wanna bust it out .
Oh and btw thanks to Mayas2 everytime i stun someone i just neutral jump Hk>Ex tenshin …no one ever expects it unless the have seen it before .
Wont most people mash when comming out of stun lol?
Ya i agree Fei has good wake up mixup.Something i was thinking about was canceling into tenshin from a blockstring.Say you land a blocked jump in and you do your blockstring.,eg- cr.lk,cr.lk,cr.lp.Now what if you link to your last cr.lp and cancel it into tenshin?
I dont know how viable it is but sounds good in theory.
Too much push back I believe. The most you can do is cr.LK> st.LP xx EX Tenshin. cr.LP in itself pushes you out to about max Tenshin range
Really? That sucks,a lot of things about fei like the pushback from his blocked focus and normals seem like capcom was scared of making his tenshin game really good.
Try it with cr.lk you can get 2 in then ex Tenshin.
they were scared of making tenshin really good, because it’d be way too easy to make a move like that insanely OP as fuck and not realize it until it’s too late.
Thats Abel for you. He is getting nered hard in AE. I also have been tweeting Ono and Godsgarden and Ono says the following
Yoshi_OnoChin Yoshinori Ono
We talk about costume’s schedule.Plz wait it news. RT @Jason24cf Any luck with change of dates4costume release?March is to far4FeiLong!
So we may get lucky and not have to wait until March for his 3rd alt.
As for Godsgarden, time zones may be a issues with getting a interview with him so I sent a tweet asking if I could just email him my questions and post both Q & A here. Keep you guys posted.
Also Nosone I have been working on my FK>FADC>CW>U1 or FK>FADC>U1. its hard on a pad but I am getting better at it.
nah i think most people become very Emo when they get stunned so they have other thoughts on their mind besides mashing .
Jason hows the mago interview coming along??
Time zone and translator are the current issue. I sent a tweet to Godsgarden saying “if I can send a list of questions over by email, he answers and then I will post on SRK” I sent that a little while ago but it was 4am for them so I should get a reply later today or tomorrow est time. I am going with 5 of my questions and 5 of the members here who posted on “runback of Inthul vs Starnab” take a look and add your question to the mix.
Well yea, the idea is that cr.LK and st.LP are the only two lights that will allow for two (consistently), but still, it’s better to go for the st.LP version since it looks like the BnB and it’ll let you cancel into Tenshin instead of doing it naked.
Good stuff man. I actually find it easier on the pad since the motions are smaller and harder to fudge since your thumb is naturally restricted. On stick, the looseness requires more muscle memory training. Still, stick isn’t hard really, just takes more time to get used to it.
