it might not replace our bnb, it depends if the the rekka off the crmk is safe or not.
Good work Jason , your enthusiasm is commendable …but why cant the devs just leave Fei alone , he is perfect the way he is and has no apparent bad matchups . AAH well , if any of these proposed changes do come to fruition , Fei will certainly become a bandwagon as he will be better represented in tournaments and will certainly be winning more tournaments through mago/starnab/evans/inthul , it’s simply inevitable . But as Bruce lee stated ''Obey the principles without being bound by them…so i guess this is what i now must do .
Another thing about Bruce was he always wanted to get better. So his legend will grow even more with Fei Long being the best tribute character to his name.
Well hopefully they don’t screw with the hit/blockstun from what it is now. Currently it’s 13 frames of blockstun and 16 frames of hit; that means the Rekka should be perfectly shielded from the “hadouken effect” where there’s a gap in between. Spacing wise, you’ll get better push-back from the cr.MK than a cr.LP, plus you’ll be farther off from the target to begin with. This should equate to an instant “safe” Rekka, post cr.MK (in situations where you’re utilizing its range).
Thanks alot Jason, this is really exciting news. Even if some of it doesn’t make it to the final build it’s nice to see some attention paid to Fei.
Interesting that both Seth and J Wong have apparently both mentioned Fei being one of their all time SF favs, given how little he’s appeared during the series, and how worthless he’s been in most of those showings.
Crouching medium kick into Rekkas will be a lot like Sakura’s punish of crouching medium kick into shoryuken, so punishing with that in mind is what I’m thinking. And for FADC into Ultra 1, I don’t know what they can do because it is a really forward direction ultra and trying to catch someone on a downward fall won’t give the animation for whatever they do to the ultra.
they could change the juggle state of a flame kick for U1 to connect, but that could lead to more complications /shrug
He may have not mention that point but he did hit on the subject. It’s not Fei’s hitboxes, it’s the other character hitboxes that change during hit confirms.
It’s not the FADC so much for me, it’s the fact you can land the first punch and still not get the full animation, like Guy’s. With all these improvements though, who needs Ultra!
because if they drop this theoretical fei into the version of super we have now, with all the buffs and no nerfs, he is easily top tier
Theres 34 other character getting changes sheesh.
well, thats kinda obvious. point being that unless most of the characters get returned to vanilla status, and the 10 new characters get helped a bunch, and the vanilla console characters all get buffed, fei is S tier
I hate to sound like a retarded optimist, but isn’t that a sign that they feel this uber Fei fits well and does not dominate because of the fixes done to other characters? I dunno, just spitballin’, it’s late XD
Seth did say; Its like a wave, some go up and some go down from time to time. :ponders: kinda like what Bruce said; put water in a cup, it becomes the cup, put water into a tea pot, it becomes the tea pot, water can crash, or it can flow, become water my freinds.
well fei was near the peak of his up wave in super imo, but with these changes he seems to have rode the wave like a ramp and landed somewhere above the peak of his wave.
This stuff is all great. I don’t see the changes making him broke or anything, but he’ll definitely be really competitive now. I’m looking forward to it.
Props to Jason for doing this, you’re the man!
LOL if the buffs are true then Fei Long will have his own Tier as the solo #1 character. Fei Long is possibly the absolutely best tournament character at the moment due to having no real counterpick but if counting overall matchup numbers he probably isn’t top. With buffs like the cr.mk which absolutely nullifies Fei Longs problem against focus and gives him a normal that can be cancelled into a safe rekka and gives him better combos off both cl.mp and cr.mp (assuming the frames are still the same).
I was already switching back to Fei from Honda since I thought that Fei would be untouched in the next update and thus become the #1 character but he even gets the cr.mk buff that not only fixes but turning the only obvious hole in Fei Longs game into something beastly.
Enough rambling. FUCKING…GOD…TIER
im thinking the same thing bubblan…
Thanks, I did this for all the Fei players. I remember when the AE had its test and we got no word of Fei. It showed that he still wasn?t very popular. I promised this forum a few weeks ago that if I had the chance to meet Seth I would press him on what changes were made to Fei. I really didn?t even have to press him. He is very cool & down to earth. He can also tell I knew Fei when I gave him matchup examples and stuff like that. It also helped when I recorded the interview on Saturday that my daughter is a pretty baby. Seth had a nice time laughing and playing with her.
So props to my little baby for making him softer. Looking over these changes I can say I am more then happy. Think about how well represented we will be as a community we will be with Fei getting these additions. Some may say “this will make him cheap” others will say “it?s about time he, he was due”. Really think about how many players rep Fei’s in tournaments? Mago right now is on a whole other level. Starnab did his thing in the last UK tournament and Inthul is training for Seasons Beatings. He wants me to be his test dummy and I am cool with that. Besides that we don?t see many. I know many Fei players here have competed in tourneys and they have won them as well but when the big tournaments take place we are not well represented. This will now make more match-ups 5-5 and with overall skill we can make it 6-4. Then again I am a Yankee fan (I live in the BX how could I not be) and I want my team to win it all every the time so I am happy with the additions.
Now with these changes Fei will have the fire power to battle back and even own some match-ups. I can see a damage nerf coming even if Seth said Fei wouldn?t get any. Cr.mk>Rekka would be the new BNB and could net close to 200 dmg points or more if it?s not scaled. But it made sense that if almost every other character could link from a cr.mp/mk that Fei should be able to as well. Now with the news that the AE didn?t get the ok, that doesn?t mean it wont come out at all for consoles. This move is about money, venders paid for a exclusive “timed” deal and once that deal is up we will get the AE changes for home consoles as DLC or even a new copy of the game for $40 just like Super (Blame Capcom for being greedy). This was not passed to me by Seth in any way so please don?t think this as another exclusive LMAO. He did confirm that the PS3 version is 2 frames slower and there will be no patch to correct the issue. He really didn?t want to comment on it as it?s not his field but he did say “due to processors and rendering the PS3 version is 2 frames slower, nothing will be done to correct it”.
So again thanks for the all props, I did it for all the Fei players here on this forum.
