didn’t they already foreshadow Walt on the run with the scene of him in the diner eating his bacon shaped into ‘52’ ?

I was thinking the new ID means he had to go on the run at some point. That’s where my second option comes from.

Does that mean that they decided to turn the 2nd half of season 5 into season 6? I’m confused!

Yeah, looks like it. I figure the whole “two halves of one season in two separate batches thing” was unnecessarily confusing to people.

Anyway, there’s some IMDB trivia on this show that may or may not be legit. If it is true, it may or may not be a very minor spoiler:

Norris, knowing Breaking bad was ending and thinking more about providing for his family, suggested to Vince Gilligan the idea of killing Hank in those first eight episodes, arguing it would be shocking and unexpected. Gilligan refused, saying he very much needed Hank for the second half of the season."
