awwwww shiiiiiiit
52 in bacon.
Note the significance of him not eating his breakfast and what that symbolizes during his supposed birthday. If you recall from the earlier episode when his wife made breakfast for him, you can pretty much conclude what happened to future Walt.
both of you need to donate your eyes to blind orphans. that is the only penance for this injustice.
what does "future walt mean?
Anyways, something is telling me that Max “the lost hermano” and Gus were closeted gay lovers.
[details=Spoiler]The show starts when Walt is 50 years old, the 5th season is about 1 year into everything so Walt is around 51. The prologue for s5e1 Walt is 52 years old, 1 year ahead of where we currently are.
At the beginning of season 1, his wife serves him breakfast with the bacon forming 50 for his birthday and he finishes it (If I recall). He does not finish his breakfast for his 52nd birthday at Denny’s which brings up the significance of how he can no longer be with his wife and kids. So you can assume something will happen to them in future episodes or seasons.
But this isn’t relevant until the last season of BrBa and we don’t know when that will be lol.[/details]
Giancarlo Esposito got picked up for a new show starting in September. I figured since I know the amount of Gus fans we have in here I’d let you guys know. I doubt the magic of Gus will be recaptured in this show, but good to follow where one of the fan fav Breaking Bad alums is headed.
I found it!

no ring
Hell no, I saw that show and it looks like shit.
I especially don’t like the lack of thoroughness.
no power yet characters have perfectly shaven faces, glistening white team, clean fresh looking clothing.
I also don’t like the whole “Generic sexy young caucasians fight a person of color/Someone who isn’t an american white” thing going on here.
That teaser’s been screwing with me ever since I found out one of the episodes this season is called
possibly revealing episode title
Spoiler
“Fifty One”.
I personally disagree with this article, but it did hit on an important subject in tv dramas. TV wives like Lori and Skylar are societal reflections on why divorces are commonplace (and I guess conversely Walt’s douchebaggery), Lori moreso.
God I hate Lori so much!
Fuck that shit. A lot of inexplicably popular TV series make husbands look like ineffectual shitheads whose very existence is nonstop trouble for their long-suffering, perpetually rational wives. This is a fiction, and a rather emasculating one at that.
Is it possible, just possible, that Skyler is a more or less accurate (by the standard of reality served up by this show) portrayal of a wife of her personality type, stuck with the kind of marriage that she has? Is her progression from clueless to impotently antagonistic to complicit to scared really that far off the main sequence? Would the show be better or more interesting if, instead of enduring Walt’s criminal enterprise for a year and counting, she simply turned her back on almost two decades of marriage and turned Walt in as soon as she found out?
What exactly is this Slate columnist asking for?
If the columnist is trying to endear Skyler to BB fans, I don’t think comparing her to Carmela Soprano is the way to go. Carmela wasn’t a bad character, but its hard to empathize with a character who so frequently turns a blind eye to ethical dilemmas whenever a diamond necklace is presented to her.
This last ep was very nice. Though…
end scene
Spoiler
I hope they don’t end another episode with Walt creepily reassuring Skyler things are OK though. It’ll feel forced a third time.
This was an awesome ep, I love how the tide pushes and pulls these characters into various dilemmas.
Mike
[details=Spoiler] Is a straight up G! Holy shit does Mike own!
I love how despite all the treachery, Mike couldn’t force himself to off that bitch. Him having a soul may be his only weakness (evident in the trust he left his granddaughter).
That opening scene with Madrigal was so cool because it showed another scope of the whole drug conspiracy left missing for over 2 seasons.
BTW, did anyone think that the hitman was working for Ze Germans at first? I sure did.[/details]
LOL Skylar getting owned again like in ep1.
Owned? How? She didn’t say a word because she’s terrified of her husband’s reaction to anything. She knows he can kill now and, if anything, it puts her in a position of power. She can go to Hank and rat Walt out. She can go to the police. She really can fuck him over. She’ll go down for it, too, but she may be willing to pay that price to protect her kids.
If I’m learning anything from these last two episodes it’s that Walt is losing control over his future. Saul has had it with him, Mike is grudgingly going along with the plan, Skylar is scared of what he can do (in many ways she was his anchor but without her he’s going deeper into the shit), and let’s not forget there are still bigger players out there who can come crushing down on him and since he’s broke he’s really fucked.
Am I the only one who occasionally wants to reach thru the screen and punch Walter Jr. in the face? Smart mouth crippled bastard. lol
(I know my comment was random, but yea)
Mike is what Walter SHOULD be. Mike actually does what he does for the good of his family while Walter is only using his family as an excuse for his irredeemable lifestyle. This episode pretty much confirms why Mike detests Walter so much.
7-22-12
[details=Spoiler]Mike-centric and I loved it. Mike is one of my favorite characters (probably just behind Jesse and Gus) so to see an episode examine his alternate lives in the way last nights did was great. He killed the interview with Hank and 'Gomi even though Mike knows he is in trouble with them for sure now. The execution scene with Chou was awesome, “You ready?”, “Mike, wai----”. Also his soft side, showing him playing Hungry Hippos with his granddaughter was sweet.
Also the Madrigal suicide was gnarly, the crack of skull on tile was rough. Anybody think the higher up exec knew exactly what was going on and is just using the DEA?[/details]
It tore me up inside when Jesse was crying over pulling a gun out on Walter, because he was right to do it. Ugh, I fucking HATED Walter in that scene, haha.
Awesome ep.

-Madrigal guy suicide by defib was awesome. Safe to say I’ve never seen that on tv before lol. Funny how I just thought he was some asshole exec at the opening, but then you realize this dude is eating tater tots as a (likely) last meal and he knows it.
-Aaron Paul’s acting at discovering the cigarette. I forgot how much he really trusts Walt.
-Walt, Jesse, and Mike in the kitchen. I really liked the shot of them sitting together. I thought of them as the Id, ego, and super-ego of a drug dealer in the game (from the limited shit I know from that one intro to Psych class I took heh).
-Mike being a bad ass. Did they say he was a cop before? I thought they did. Anyway, dude was cold blooded in the interrogation scene. But I think the plot device of putting it in the grand daughter’s name is kinda weak. Realistically, I think police / govt could easily indict you based on a connection like that. Whatever, though.
-Scenes of Walt and Skyler in the bedroom. I loved the bedroom scene where you don’t see either of their faces. It’ll be interesting to see how they de/escalate the situation from here.
