That comment isn’t a broad anti-sponsorship statement. It is basically denouncing those (like MLG) who are interested in running this community to their own satisfaction rather than support the community that already exists.
I wonder how many people in the FGC will subscribe to Brazzers following this whole incident…
I have concerns about how Brazzers will approach tournaments, especially if they ever sponsor their own events. Nonetheless it’ll be interesting to watch, I just hope it doesn’t mess things up for everyone. On the plus side Brazzers is a big company with a lot of money, so I’m sure they have PR people keeping a close watch on things.
I’m pretty sure Perfect_Frames doesn’t need to defend what someone else says. We can all think for ourselves and have our own damn opinions.
Let Brazzers roll with it for now. I think it’s pretty hilarious and nothing bad to come from it. FGC makes peanuts compared to everywhere else and aren’t much in the eyes of a lot of sponsors. If Brazzers gets nothing out of it, then they just back out and we are back where we were. If they make their own events, then that’s awesome, can’t see why it won’t coexist. If people can make burlesque star wars show, then why not an adults only event? They would have their own time and place and with proper planning they would be smart to not overlap it with a major.
You mean to say that I, as a consumer, cannot have an opinion on the way in which a corporation (sponsoer) distributes a product (tournies)? Just because the community doesn’t like a particular sponsor does not mean that they are anti-sponsorship.
I think I’m pretty clear on my point. I don’t know how I’m jumping from place to place when I’ve said the same thing in multiple posts.
And yes. I think the Cannons will ask Joe not to wear the shirt on stream and ask the commentators not to mention the sponsor before his name. They have the right to do that and they’ll exercise it. Tom Cannon made that pretty clear in his tweet.

I won’t deny, I thought LG cup was hype. Not the US qualifiers or any of the cellphone matches, but the finals in Korea. Shit was a dance party + invitational tournament.

This is disgusting. The fighting game community are serious electronic athletes, and their sport requires intelligence, discipline, artistry, and determination. The FGC continues to not get the respect it deserves, instead being viewed in the public eye for its acts of perverted misogyny. This is the lowest the community has sunk, and everyone who believes this will be a benefit to the community should be ashamed of this. Only thing that sucks is that if you get sponsored by Brazzers i imagine you just destroyed your chances of getting any normal job that pays over 50k a year. I don’t think many professional companies will want to hire someone who has Brazzers written above his picture everywhere on the Internet. So once you’re done with fighting games what will you have?
It’ll be interesting to see just how this sponsorship plays out. However I can’t turn a blind eye to how some female fighters are designed with ‘sexy’ in mind. Iconic how the sponsor tag won’t be allowed if characters like Morrigan Aensland and Makoto Nanaya exist to help forever alone fighters sleep peacefully at night.
