If you paid attention or did ANYTHING beyond read “porn company wants to sponsor player” you would know that the representative was aware that it is a sensitive issue and that certain expectations of professionalism must be met. It’s not going to turn into a porn convention.

You act like by Joe getting sponsored by this company, there’s going to be gang bangs and porn stars walking around at every tournament (and why is this BAD??), and a rash of STDs that kill off all the major players. It’s a sponsor, nothing else. Let Kataku and all the white knights and butt hurt devils advocates go fuck themselves. They can complain and write all the articles they want, but does it really matter?

This isn’t really a bad thing as far as tournaments go. Like they said on stream last night, the NOS girls are basically watered down porn stars. So even if we get Brazzers chicks walking around it won’t be that bad.

I know that a lot of you hate MLG/esports/corporations/sponsors, this thread however suggests a porn corporation is acceptable, just trying to find out the difference, seriously i’m genuinely interested why this is…

The main thing is people are worried that once all this stuff gets big enough then the “FGC” will be more about the sponsorships, money, drama, etc. Personally I think it would be awesome if pro players can live off of FGs without working a shitty 9-5 but seriously at the end of the day we are just a bunch of people playing video games. We need to calm down.

A porn company isn’t trying to strip aspects of the scene many people love and appreciate in the interest of making the community conform to their standards. No one wants dull, rudimentary golf commentary given by guys in suit and tie behind a desk. No one wants censorship. No one wants a barrier, whether physical or conceptual that separates “top players” from the every-man fighting game player. This is a diverse, welcoming, friendly and social community. No one wants to feel any different from the coveted big names nor does anyone want to be forced to change to fit the “professional” mold when they’re doing this for fun.
