A Cotto vs. Pacquiao fight is being thrown around just to use as negotiation leverage against Mayweather ( if he beats Marquez), nothing more. Showing that Mayweather needs Pacquiao more then Pac needs him financially for a huge fight.
Cotto vs. Pac sounds nice, but the fight that everyone and there momma wants to see is Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. If that fight is made, it is easily the second highest grossing fight ,ever. If Mayweather beats Marquez, this fight is too big not to happen. Money heals all wounds and tension between Al Haymon (Floyd’s manager) and Bob Arum ( Floyd’s former promoter).
i’d LOVE to see cotto/berto, as a fan of berto i think he needs to step up his competition.
and yeah i think pac/cotto is arum attempting to play hard ball, but i think the fact that arum and PBF don’t like each other can’t be discounted entirely.

i don’t really follow boxing, but i have seen a couple of big fights recently (cotto vs margarito, pac vs dlh, pac vs hatton). i read about the margarito thing with the substance that was put on his gloves. you guys think that was going on for a while? (what did people say about that?) i only read the wikipedia entry, which only refers to his last fight. and yes, i ask that cause i didn’t like to see cotto lose against him, lol. although he did withstand all of cotto’s punches, ugh.

I’ve met Manny Pacquiao in real life and he’s a very good guy, he is possibly the most humblest athlete i have ever met (2nd would be the Undertaker). Just before his fight with Hatton, the guy returned to his room very exhausted, and there were loads of fans that waited for him (me included)… regardless, of the fact that he was tired as hell (and it was late at night), he allowed the fans to come to his hotel room because of the fact that we waited for him. The guy was all smiles yet the fatigue the guy had was visible; but being the class A guy he is, he went through the whole thing politely.
He didn’t just sign autographs but he also gave a few chit chats. I asked him about Hatton and Mayweathers and he really had nothing bad to say about them (which is weird because both Hatton and Floyd dissed him in every interview). He said “I’m exited about the fight, Hatton is a good boxer and i hope that you’ll see a good fight… i only care about giving all of you a good fight”. When i gave him some of the comments from Floyd Mayweathers, all he did was giggle, “i’ll put up a good fight”. I heard that Roach was this close to decking Mayweathers in the mouth but Pac insisted to remain humble.
The guy prays before and after a match and he prays that for no one to get seriously injured. Manny Paq is a class A fighter, and i agree that he is the boxer we have not seen since Mohammad Ali.
I just watched the documentary on this; Mayweathers and Hatton rambled non-stop “Game over pac”, “Pac can’t fight”, “Coach Roach” and all that shit that was never backed up. I found it funny how load the Brits where during the whole fight - booing the shit out of Manny, singing Hatton’s music, and a band playing randomly - then STFU when Hatton gets knocked in the first round.
All that shit hyped from a man that got owned below 10 min.

Ricky Hatton’s legacy is his fan base is probably the best ever seen. Imo, his fan base is what overrartes him. He is not an elite fighter, but has a fan base of one.
I’m stating the obvious, but Hatton is one dimensional and “maybe” had some boxing skills, but “never” had the ring intelligence to actually use them. Hatton is too much an emotional fighter. Sure, it creates (some what) exciting fights with the wrestling/ holding and hitting, but he cannot adapt to situations when things are not going his way.
Ricky Hatton has the best fans in any sports following of an individual, not a team.
Joe Calzaghe (or Lennox Lewis) is the best fighter from the UK this decade.

Thanks for the vids. Unfortunately, i couldn’t watch it at the Arena but 2 of my friends where there. The Brits where load; the level of volume from them is underrated in TV because they were screaming and sounding off the trumpets like madmen. My friend said, that before the show went on air, the brits started yelling “game over pac man” with the added singing of Hattons theme music.
What’s funny is that at the start, those Brits where arrogant - yelling non-stop, then just around the 1st, Hatton gets knocked and they all shut the fuck up and the Pacquiao fans where finally heard. You should watch the fight again the shit is so hilarious. The good thing about the whole thing is the load of shit talk and arrogance displayed by hatton, his team, and his fans (watch the hatton/pac documentary) including the fact that Manny was underrated badly.
I watched the fight many times this week and the Hatton band couldn’t do that sing-a-long ditty because of Pacquiao outclassing Hatton, lol. I watched the UK telecast and as gunners has mentioned, the UK commentary is too biased as usual.

Dawson vs. Tarver II was a waste of time, as expected. Chad Dawson, along with Kelly Pavlik, are the two best young American fighters we have. It is too bad they cannot get a marque matchp. Bad Chad is a solid southpaw with good movement and combinations and can go toe-to-toe as well.
Chad Dawson has some options, it is said he is willing to go to 168 for big names:
160: Kelly Pavlik, Paul Williams, Arthur Abraham
168: Mikkel Kessler, Lucian Bute, Carl Froch, Librado Andrade, Jermain Taylor
175: Roy Jones jr., Bernard Hopkins, Joe Calzaghe
Matter of fact, all the names mentioned at 160, and 168 could all fight each other and would revive the middleweight/ super middle weight divisions.

I do think hatton would of done better if they didn’t underestimate Manny. In the 24/7 video, you would see floyd and hatton talking too much shit “What i have here is a stallion, what Roach has in his corner is a sorry mule”, then the whole “Pacquiao can’t fight, i see how he trains… it’s amateurish”… then go off to eat or something.
Floyd was always late during the trainings and just by watching the video, it seemed more like a bad Hatton/Mayweather in MTV Road Rules.
i don’t like Mayweathers jr, i really don’t; i respect his athleticism but i don’t like him.
