well to be fast u need the muscle for it. power doesnt always equal speed but speed does generally equal power. cuz the faster u get the stronger u get to be able to keep up with the speed ya know? i feel like if it doesnt then theirs an extenuating circumstance to say otherwise.

De La Hoya should beat Pacquiao, it depends on how they handle the weight. I think it is easier to move up in weight than it is to move down. DLH could face stamina issues.

I don’t think Pacquiao will carry his power up to 147 though, also DLH will likely come into the match weighing close to 160lbs. I think the match will end up like BHop vs Pavlik.

a couple showcases this weekend:

Cristobal Arreola - “the great American heavyweight hope” Critics will question his conditioning, but he comes to fight. It’s nice seeing a heavyweights throw combinations these days. It’s too early to say if he can beat a Klitschko. I would jump on the bandwagon if he shows better conditioning.

Paul Williams - this freak of nature fought in three different weight classes this year. A " comeback fighter" of the year candidate ( B-hop wins this one easily) It’s too bad he could never get the big names to fight him at Welterweight. I can see him against Vernon Forrest or Kelly Pavlik in 2009.

watching the 24/7 series seems lacking this year: Calzaghe/ Jones, de la Hoya / Pacquiao. the 24/7 series needs a Mayweather in it.

anyone in here boxes?

just at the mma school.

I used to when I was like 6 years old.

My Parents put me in Baseball after that though. I was fucking beasting the shit out of Baseball.

Boxing, was bleh for me

i love it, i live it. i’m going to be in the nyc golden gloves. i’m going to go pro in 2 yrs. im good as hell at baseball also but i never did anything with it(i need to buy a new catching glove)

i wanted to know if anyone else is going to the gloves in '09?

i like arreola too. for some reason, even while the black guy (i forget his name) was lighting him up with combinations i had the feeling that he would catch him and put him down…and that’s exactly what he did. the ref was hilarious talking to the dude that lost, “listen to me, you remember hearns-hagler? that’s what this was, nothing to be ashamed of!” i’m like yeah ok, a bit of an overstatement but ok lol…good fight though. as far as the klitchskos though, arreola needs to defend better to give them any problems imo. granted he’s big and could possibly push them around, vlad and vitali are ridiculously poised in the ring and would methodically pick him apart imo, his style could make it interesting though.

yeah williams is a beast, i forsee him reigning over this division for awhile. he’s gonna have guys going down to 140 to stay out of his reach. if i’m a guy like andres berto, thats what i’d do there’s no way there little guys can mess with bcuz of his combination of height, speed and power. he should try and tempt a guy like winky wright into a fight, i mean at this point who can he get, right?

the greatness of 50 moseying around on the segway and floyd sr. looking like predator will never duplicated.

yo i met roy jones jr and dmc(from run dmc) at my boxing gym around 2 weeks ago. i want to grow a beard like roy’s:rofl:

I box but I don’t compete outside of sparring. My main style is Muay Thai but I also took boxing on the side for years since it was offered at my gym and taught by pro boxers.

man i want to spar with a pro but his trainer told me he is too big for me(i weigh 178-180lbs) but i feel i can do good plus im quite powerful myself. the pro i want to spar goes to my gym(gleason’s gum). his name is tor hamer. i was coming out of subway restaurant when i saw a voice newspaper box and saw his face on the cover. i was like wow thats gonna be me in 2 yrs.

haha tor hamer? shit might as well change his name to thor hammer.

 i know right. that name would be sugoi! it would be a sugoi nickname tor " the thor hammer" hamer!

he has a fucking built in badass nickname…i sure as hell just on sound alone would be weary of anyone nicknamed thor.

Put Areola vs the giant see how he does. Im likin this kid though.

how much is the betting odds on the pac/dela hoya right now?

It’s closing in right now at -195 DLH/+155 Pacquiao.

I started boxing only two years ago. I mainly box because I needed a hobby, it keeps me in shape, and helps my self-esteem. i’m south-paw

Chris Arreola vs. Samuel Peter in 2009

Chris can fight a “big name” and not another up and comer. And Sam Peters could use a good comeback fight against a live fighter. Both of these fighters need a big win (more so Peter) and this is a good match-up IMO

I believe Arreola can beat a Vlad or Vitali. Looking at the way the brothers fight ( hands down, one punch at a time), they wouldn’t last in the championship level heavyweight division in the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s.

I dont like him vs any of those cats yet. Put him vs some lower cats like Valuev/briggs/ruiz/ that olympian…etc

Those would be good match ups for Arreola as well.

Looking at some up coming fights:

Kendall Holt vs. Ricardo Torres III : barnburner

Nikolai Valuev vs. Evander Holyfield: no comment

Antonio Margarito vs. Shane Mosley: it’s finally offical. I may want to see this one live.

Vic Darchinyan vs. Jorge Arce: grudge match. Vic KO’ed my favorite fighter, Christian Mijares, Arce must win this one.
