That was a boxing masterpiece. Who would of thought that Hopkins took the bull by the horns. Hopkins won every single round. This might sound crazy, but if Roy Jones jr. beats Joe Calzaghe next month… Roy Jones jr. vs. Bernard Hopkins II would still be a mega fight after all these years later. Both Bernard and Roy coming off huge wins against undefeated fighters.
As for Kelly Pavlik, No shame in losing to Hopkins. Though, being outclassed is kind of like losing two fights in a row, Pavlik is still the middleweight champion. Pavlik might take a title defense against Marco Antonio Rubio who won on the undercard. Pavlik may also fight a Paul Williams or a Auther Abraham fight in Germany.
Hopkins is a legend, what a performance.

Calzaghe should be a crowd favorite, but he has an annoying style. I just hate it. He pitty pats his punches for the “computer points”. I don’t know why he is so high on the P4P lists.

Lol only thing I don’t like about Hopkins is his bullshit pre-fight antics, his idiocy when he puts on a suit, and his sudden rash of journalism in the ring. XD, Didn’t think he’d peace out Pavlik though, thought Pavlik would put Bernard to bed for good.
It was a bad matchup for Pavlik he’s too slow and flat footed for an experienced fighter like Hopkins. He had a sluggers chance in that fight.
Yeesh, I don’t think I’ve ever hated any boxer’s style more than Calzaghe’s. Obviously you could make an argument that it works but I can’t stand watching him do that. I’m very confused as to how anyone could place him anywhere near Juan Manual Marquez.
It’s kind of funny that as recently as 2006 people were saying that there was zero interest in a Jones-Hopkins rematch because they are so old. Now, seven year after Hopkins stopped Trinidad’s race for Jones, it is anticipated once again.

Calzaghe’s style is a good amateur style for scoring. Even Emanuel Steward called out Calzaghe for being a Slapper.

Lucian Bute (IBF belt) vs. Librado Andrade; Supermiddleweight
Lucian Bute is one of the biggest names in Canadian boxing (via Romania), or at least in Quebec. He is undefeated and is in a division where Roy Jones Jr. once dominated and recently, Joe Calzaghe. Librado Andrade is a come forward Mexican fighter whose brother fought (lost) on the undercard of the Pavlik-Hopkins card. Andrade’s only loss was to Mikkel Kessler.
This is good matchmaking and a can’t miss amongst die-hard boxing fans. U.S. audience can see this fight on “Shobox” on showtime (like HBO’s “boxing After Dark” series).
Cristian Mijares vs. Vic Darchinyan (Showtime)
This is the best match-making this year with Cotto vs. Margarito and Tarver vs. Dawson. Christian Mijares is in the lead for “2008 fighter of the year” and my favorite fighter to watch. Mijares along with Ivan Caldaron are the best pure boxers since Floyd’s retirement.
And Darchinyan is and come forward fighter that is very unorthodox. so this is a very good contrast in styles of skill vs. will. If Mijares wins this, he is fighter of the year hands down and would be the only undisputed champion in boxing along with Nate Campbell. If you are the type of boxing fan that doesn’t like watching “little guys” or just watch the “big names”, this fight will open your eyes.
