They are in the same weight class actually, lightweight.

Pretty much. One moment people were expecting him to win world titles and breeze past anyone who stepped in his way ( which was never true) now he has to deal with everyone doubting him, there would also be self doubt in himself as the fight wasn’t even close he just got his ass kicked.

If Prescott gets thrashed in an on coming fight that would further damage him ( Khan) I think.

Amir Khan - Silver medalist 2004 Athens, Greece Olympics. Khan was probably Britian’s hottest prospect and was the number one contender for Nate Campbell’s WBO title coming into this fight. He was brought up by the Frank Warren (promoter) system in the same way as Joe Calzaghe and Ricky Hatton. Khan had a suspect chin coming into this fight because of earlier knockdowns from lesser British fighters, but no one expected this. Bad match making and was trying to please the fans too much ( Khan fights on PPV in the UK even though he is a prospect at best). He just changed his trainer and can’t change the fact he has a glass chin.

Did anyone watch Diaz vs katsidis?

Diaz definately won this fight easily imo. and good stuff to Max for calling out this poor job of scoring and putting katsidis trainer in his place.

Diaz - Katsidis split decision was terrible also although a win is a win, Diaz won easily and deserved a UD.

How about a Amir Khan vs. Michael Katsidis fight in England, why not.

Because Khan can’t take another loss at the moment. He needs to go back to fighting journey men for a little while and work on his defence.

Lenox on Barios vs Rocky, “the next round he would of been drinking his blood”

I did

So DLH is opening at -200 with Pacquiao at +160.

Weight differences aside why is the line starting off like this. I’m not that knowledgeable about boxing but the intangibles (Pacquiao having a knack for being Mexico’s greatest and DLH going 3-3 in his last six) makes me think that the line should be opening a little closer or even as an underdog.

Marquez>Pacquiao

you can’t put the weight differences aside. de la hoya is naturally 20 lbs heavier than pac and in none of his 3 losses did he look “bad”. personally i think pac can win the fight, but he needs to work on his defense bcuz i don’t think he can eat too many shots from de la hoya the way he usually does from those 135 lb guys.

That was a good fight last night. Casamayor boxed very well, but Marquez one up’ed him on the counter punching, though Marquez did took some hard left hands.

But, I’d agree, Pacquiao don’t want nothing to do with Marquez again. I’d pick Marquez over Juan Diaz if they fought.

Sucks that the Joan Guzman vs. Nate Campbell fight was canceled.

I’m making a prediction here. I don’t think anyone has mentioned it even on the boxing boards. “If” Manny Pacquiao were to beat Oscar de la Hoya and then Ricky Hatton in early 2009 ( similar to what Floyd has done in 2007), I predict a Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao fight. Floyd only would come back to a big pay day and if Manny looks good in beating Oscar in the biggest stage, Manny becomes that house hold name that Floyd would come back into the ring for.

there’s no reason for pac to fight hatton, unless he can get the fight in the PI or some shit. imo, pac’s camp should’ve been calling out floyd for awhile now, the fact that they haven’t makes me think they don’t want any part of him.

Pac vs. Hatton is a fight that has reason and can happen. Manny and Ricky are about the same height. They both have a huge fan base in their respective countries. Both have a crowd pleasing style. And if Manny is going to fight a much bigger fighter in Oscar, then why not Ricky Hatton. Both fighters had expressed the desire to fight one another. The consensus of boxing svribes/ writers and hardcore fans are positive. The PI is not a realistic venue for the fight. Not enough money in the PI nor in the UK. This is a Vegas fight written all over it.

The lightweight division is for Juan Manuel Marquez to own now that he is the linear champion, although he doesn’t own a scanticoning belt. I feel he can beat all the top fighters in 135 and those coming up from 130: Juan Diaz, Nate Campbell, Joan Guzman ( if he ever fights again), Edwin Valero, Humberto Soto. There is going to be a lot of pressure for Pacquiao to fight Marquez again. One reason Pacquiao is wanting to fight Ricky Hatton after de la Hoya is to stay away from the lighweight division because if Manny comes back to lightweight, all roads in the lightweight division leads to Marquez and Pac don’t want none of Marquez.

This is what I think too. Pacquiao wants no part of Marquez. He has too much to lose.

I really *really *wanted to see that damn fight; it would’ve completely cleared up a lot of unanswered question in the division right now. Nate upped his game three fold when he was taking Juan Diaz shot for shot every round. On top of that Campbell looked to be in phenomenal shape which would’ve been interesting to see against Guzman’s style.

LOL wow what a finish to mosley, mayorga fight. Mayorga had it and gets KOed with 1 second left.

that fight was hella close, Mosley had like 3 convincing rounds, the other rounds where close, if mayorga survived the last round could have been a split decision, good overall boxing fight from both dudes, i enjoyed it.

Hmm I thought it would be UD for Mayorga. Mosley didn’t seem to be in the fight especially in the late rounds. I might have missed some things since the stream I was watching wasn’t great quality and lagging a lot.

i’m coming in here all late:

Andre Berto - . A good test over Steve Forbes, as expected. That right straight, right uppercut combo is unnatrual, but flashy. A good year for Berto, picked up a belt and will take another good step up against Luis Collazo. I can see Andre Berto in a “big fight” towards mid or end of 2009: Shane Mosley, Carlos Quintana, Zab Judah, Joshua Clottey, Kermit Cintron, are all good names for Berto.

Shane Mosley - With Margarito and Cotto heading towards a rematch. That leaves Mosley out of big fights. A third fight with Vernon Forrest or Andre Berto are probably his best options. I don’t doubt if a Mosley/ Zab Judah fight happens in 09’.

Showtime fights don’t get talked about much here but October 11 has some good boxing: Antonio Tarver vs. Chad Dawson, Samuel Peter vs. Vitali Klitschko

So I read this somewhere…

“Holyfield plans to make a comeback against Nikolai Valuev for the WBA world championship in December 2008. If he wins, he will be the oldest heavyweight champion ever at an age of 46.”
