good for you. i have a question for you though, when you become a number 1 contender, how would you feel if the champion keeps ducking you?

It’s a shame that the Mosley/Berto fight is being overshadowed by the Pac/MW fiasco. Does ANYONE give a fuck about this fight? Seriously. This shit is going down in less than two weeks, and I don’t even know if it has been mentioned at all over the last 10 pages of this thread.

For the love of God, let’s make some sort of effort to put this thread back on track and talk about BOXING instead of girly gossipy shit. Fuck PacMan and fuck Mayweather. These dudes are both bullshitting to the point that I could care less what they do now. There are a shit ton of other good fights coming up this year, and I know for a fact that there are at least a handful of REAL boxing fans in this thread that care about boxing beyond Manny Pacquiao and PBF.

Mosley/Berto fight isnt gonna go down.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

I suppose I can understand why he withdrew. I was kinda hoping it would motivate him more, but whatever. I was really looking forward to that fight, but obviously there are much bigger things happening with Berto. Forgot his family was Haitian.

Yeah it was mentioned a few times. Not big fights, but we get to see Gamboa and Juan Manuel Lopez fight on the same night this saturday.

The Berto vs Mosley fight has been cancelled. I forgot that Berto was Hatian this disaster must be hitting him hard, god bless all those suffering and may their condition improve.

That being said Mayweather vs Mosley is being negotiated, looks like Shane will get his opportunity.

lol talk about someone lucking the fuck out…mosley’s un-deserving ass just stumbled into a huge payday. would rather have eventually seen PBF/berto but since everyone has forgot that mosley is old as fuck this will do.

If Mayweather beats Mosley ( which I think he will) he can fight Berto later this year.

xbox red ringed, pac/pbf cancelled, chargers losing to jets, now mosley/berto fight cancelled. ya fuck twenty-ten.

i would never give mosley the time or day(and i know mayweather wont after the shit he has been talking. especially that shit that he did to fuck up his interview after his last fight). he is not even on mayweather’s lvl. he knows he cant win too. he just wants the losing money which i wouldnt let him get. he’s desperate. berto would beat mosley too. mosley cant produce the type of money as mayweather. but i really wanted to see berto/mosley. and im still mad dumb ass clottey lost to bum ass cotto.wtf?

Wow that’s so cool. I’m trying to get my gloves this year in SF!!

Man, I was hoping that Berto would kinda hold out for a minute on the mega-fights. He ain’t ready for Mayweather. I think he needs a little bit more experience before getting in over his head. Hell, I don’t even think he could beat Mosley, but he definitely has a much better chance than he would against PBF.

Berto obviously has all the right tools to become future p4p, but I don’t know that he has the stamina to keep it up down the stretch. I would hate to see him pull a Jermain Taylor and just be like, “fuck it, I’ll fight anybody, anytime”. While that’s a great attitude to have, I also feel that it’s important for a boxer to know his place and be honest with himself about his accomplishments. A career should be a process, and you should take your time with it and not force it.

I have super-high hopes for him, but I don’t think he should go jumping in the ring with p4p’s for at least another couple of years.

eh i think berto would’ve handled mosley. dude is an old ass man who had one foot out of boxing until he pulled that miracle on cheating ass margarito (whose actual talent should know be in question btw).

I think Berto would beat him too like I would bet a reasonable sum of money on it because it would be seen as a huge upset. People are forgetting Mosley’s fight with Mayorga, I don’t think he has the legs to keep up with a boxer who can move and box.

That being said a part of me wanted Mosley to win for the simple fact that I want to see people’s reaction when Floyd likely beats him.

I’m trying to make an effort to get more into boxing beyond MMA. Always have had utmost respect for the athletes, just hate “the sport” if you know what I’m saying.

Also, I watch tons of classic/80’s boxing on youtube, but my knowlege of modern boxing is garbage, mostly Manny and the Klitchko’s… So in other words, just subscribing to this thread to learn more. Have trained in boxing years ago too, but as a fan I don’t know enough.

I agree that SSM is getting up there in age, but I would never count him out. And hell no, I don’t base that on his win over Margarito’s sorry ass (man, seriously… FUCK that dude). I just know that Mosley has the discipline to stay in the fight for all 12 rounds, whereas Berto is gonna score his points early… and after watching his last fight with Collazo (who I feel is a bum compared to SSM), it was obvious that he needs to pace himself more so he isn’t clinching from the 7th round on. And no, I don’t believe in the ‘triangle theory’, and I only bring up Collazo to point out issues with stamina. Not that SSM hasn’t struggled with the same thing, but he’s been doing it a lot longer, and likely has a much better idea of how to pace himself against the young Berto.

Stick around for a bit! There are a good handful of posters in this thread (gunners, thurst, noodle, and a few others) that I believe truly know and follow boxing. I usually end up arguing with all of them (haha), but that just comes with the territory of having a passion for the sport.

But just dive in, man! Watch upcoming fights on HBO and Showtime. Just keep up with who’s who and who’s doing what. Just try not to fall into the hype machine/circus that surrounds a lot of today’s fighters.

Boxing is loaded with talent. HBO just loves to shove Manny and Floyd down our throats because they are the biggest draws in the sport.

Supper Middle Weight is loaded, Junior Welterweight is loaded, Bantamweight is also pretty good.

When Manny and Floyd retire, Boxing will make more stars to stir more drama

What’s going on with the lightweight division? I understand that Marquez is the #1 guy there but, I keep hearing that he’s gonna leave the division & go up in jr. welter or welter to fight bigger names. I personally feel he’s strong in lightweight but, if he does leave then I hope someone will start a tournament with the top lightweights to determine who’s #1 like with diaz, valero, katsidis, & funeka. That’s my dream for what should happen with the division.

Same here, I started out watching strictly MMA but branching out to most of the individual sports (namely Muay Thai and BJJ) but still learning about boxing piece by piece. I’ve lurked this thread enough and have a friend who boxes to know a little bit more than what’s given to us by the mass media. It’s mostly boxing from the 80s that I follow since all of the real legit boxers fought each other and then some. Boxing has always been marred with politics and greed but the 80s seem to be the last time where truly great champions became boxing icons and with Hearns being my favorite boxer of all time, the 80s was a great time to learn about boxing. There’s other boxers that really pique by interests from different eras like Foreman, Pep, Whittaker and Chavez but that’s for another time and place.

As for the current state of boxing, Klitschko brothers are pretty entertaining and great boxers but without other great boxers to test them they’ll be another case of “what if?” of how truly great they are.

On a final note, I say Mosley has the best chance out of anybody in the last few years to seriously threaten PBF’s reign; he’s got a right cross that’s reminiscent of Leonard’s when he soundly beat his father in the 80s and a comparable skillset and speed to give him all sorts of fits.

Any of you guys watch anything besides boxing?
