Floyd accepted Team Pacquiao’s request of a 10 million dollar fine for every pound over 147 at the weigh-in, so I think its only fair that Team Pacquiao accepts this request.
So far this would be 3 or 4 requests that Team Mayweather has accepted- March 13th, 8. oz gloves, 10 million dollar weight penalty, and the 50-50 purse split, compared to 0 on the Pacquiao side.

It’s warranted imo. Reading the article, it sounds like random urinalysis would do the job just as well. Asking for more is just a psychological tactic to throw P. off his game. Sounds plausible.

Whether it throws Manny P. off his game is for him to try and get over. Obviously Floyd isn’t taking allegations that Manny P. is using Performance Enhancing Drugs lightly, so why leave it up to chance, especially in a huge fight like this. What did Cotto get(besides a brutal whipping and a loss), when it was found that Margarito had loaded gloves?
They’re both getting tested and it will be reasonably far enough from fight night so that they wouldn’t lose energy, so why not accept?
not agreeing to standard drug testing is fucking stupid. honestly i hope floyd and co. are right in assuming that pacquiao just hadn’t gotten the word yet, and isn’t actually trying to refuse to do so.
Hum. I just read some more and it sounds like Olympic style drug testing was on the contract from day 1. If that’s the case then pulling out now is a bitch move.
I don’t think competitors have any reason to have to agree to random blood samples if the urinalysis is enough. If it’s a question of reasonableness, then not agreeing to random blood samples is just as reasonable as agreeing to random blood samples–it’s not in the Nevada state drug test guidelines either way.
But yah… if it’s been in the contract since day one, then there’s no excuse.
Its not exactly standard drug testing(As in a piss test). This is Olympian style drug testing. They will randomly draw blood and take urine throughout training camp, and 2 days before the fight.
It makes sense. Whether or not Manny P. likes it, this will probably be the biggest WW fight since Leonard-Hearns. Maybe even bigger than that. Don’t need any PED allegations looming over either fighter’s head. The 10 mill stipulation was more out of the ordinary to me. Blood tests in today’s professional sports world though, are very common.
I expect Team Pacquiao to eventually agree. There’s just too much on the table at this point. Someone is going to have to suck it up and just play along whether they like it or not
bottom line is that it’s not “reasonable” to disagree to any kind of drug testing…unless you’re doing something you’re not supposed to. if he thinks the USDA/WADA testing is too stringent then it begs the question what are you scared of?

Freddie Roach needs to shut the fuck up. Shane Mosley was able to slip past the Nevada tests for drugs. I can see why a request would be made for such a high level fight and I don’t see it as a way of ducking out of the fight.
What I do see as a way of trying to duck out the fight is the glove request, making the fight earlier than may and the 10 mil fine for every pound you’re over weight.
Roach is one of the biggest slime balls in the game because people see him as some sort of saint, I don’t know why he thinks it’s okay to force another fighter to come in at 145lbs for a welterweight fight but requesting more thorough drug tests is absurd.
The blood tests won’t do shit to Pacquiao for one Mayweather will be taking the same type of test, two the amount of blood they take from you isn’t that draining. I didn’t see that type of testing fucking with Usain Bolt when he smashed the world records.
I think Roach and Arum were expecting Mayweather to turn down Pacquiao so they could futher hype their man from the Philipines.
I just read the news this morning. IDK, Pac didn’t look like he beat Cotto b/c of roiding, if that’s what Mayweather is worried about. I think it’s the possibility that he’ll have a tough fight, Mayweather needs to be tested again, Emmanuel Augustus gave him a tough fight sure, but Mayweather needs to be hurt, on the brink of defeat to see what he’s really made of. Now Mayweather is a lot bigger than Pac, and unless Pacquiao is totally tightened up with his punches, and not throwing wildly, he could beat Mayweather. I’m not the biggest fan of Floyd as a person, but I think he will be able to pull this one out.

Are people actually trying to justify not taking a drug test? Seriously? It is less than a teaspoon of blood, 3-5 times between jan and the fight. A few teaspoons of blood gets replenished by the body within hours. Sorry but this time the person doing the running is pac.
