Boxing Thread

Look at the Grey area.

In a major fight, every little detail is micro-managed. It obviously was a ploy to get Manny to come down and agree to fight at 147. If Mayweather says, “Fight me at 147” on the first go around, Manny will probably say “No why don’t you fight me at 145”.

Besides that its all irrelevant now. They both agreed to fight at 147, and use 8oz. gloves. Manny is probably gonna use Reyes, and Mayweather is probably gonna use Grant or some bigger looking glove to protect his hands.

Anyway, March 13 is pretty early don’t you guys think?
I hope to god this happens in Dallas. Make it happen JERRY!!!

I’m not going to get into this a lot I’m just going to put it this way.

Mayweather vs DLH did more ppv buys than Pacquiao vs DLH.
Mayweather vs Hatton did more ppv buys than Pacquiao vs Hatton.
Mayweather vs Marquez did more ppv buys that Pacquiao vs Marquez.

Mayweather has also been a big draw longer than Pacquiao. You’re deluding yourself if you think 50:50 isn’t a fair split.

Considering those words came from Freddie Roach I’m not buying it. The guy is a big mouth liar. The fight will take place at 147lbs with 8oz gloves.

Also not that any of you will care but Chavez jr got caught juicing in his fight with that Rowland guy. The drugs he was taking was to increase urination some would say that it was to make weight some say it was to mask other drugs he was possibly taking.

Yep. People have been buying Floyd’s fights for quite a few years now. People have bought Manny’s fights, too. But outside of the boxing world, and with the exception of the Phillipines, nobody knew who the fuck Manny was. Meanwhile, Floyd is putting his name out as much as possible by doing shit like Dancing with the Stars.

Man Sergio is giving Williams a lot of trouble.

How tall is Williams? It looks like he fighting a midget. Dude up to his neck.

6’2 according to wiki. I can’t believe he fought in welterweight.

good god damn martinez is getting his.

I had the fight 116-113 for Williams. More poor judging again, 119-110 was fucking rediculous. First fight I’ve seen of Martinez and I got a lot of respect for this guy.

119-110? Are you fucking kidding me?! That was a great fight and I would like to see a rematch. Should’ve been a draw imo

I see the real boxing fans are on here tonight and not talking about may vs. pac

Paul Williams, Sergio Martinez, what a fight. I had it 7-5, Martinez, but this is the kind of fight where the loser also gains something from the fight. And people would want to see it again. Awesome, awesome fight.

119-110?!?!?!?! really??? really???

I just saw Amir Khan knocked out Salita in the 1st. Amir Khan vs. Marco Maidana <----- must see

This is what’s angering me about the sport of boxing. The judges. It’s gotten to the point where if you’re the bigger draw you don’t have to worry about the fighting going to the score card.

Going to have to dl the fight sometime later as I couldn’t find a stream just followed a round by round txt summary.

This is true

How would guys score the first round? I gave it 10-10 even though I know it should be a 10- for Martinez after seeing the replay. Judges have to go by what the referee says right? Even with the change, I still have Williams winning 114-113. With the real scorecards, I think the bout would’ve ended in a draw if the first round was 10-8 for Martinez.

It was a great fight, but for one judge to vote 119-110. Did he see something that no one else did?

It could have easily have went to Martinez seeing that even though Williams threw way more punches than he did, Martinez connected more times in every catagory. :wonder:

I would like to see a rematch, only next time make sure that judge wears his glasses.

50:50 is fair because of the reputation Pacquiao has over PBF - that is being the current pound for pound king. PBF was a bigger draw before his retirement… Pacquiao last match drew more than PBF’s last match.

That’s what I said 50:50 is a fair split. Also notice how I compared fighters they’ve both fought? I did that for a reason.

I missed the fight last night. Was it that one-sided? Is there some controversy here or what?

The main event was action packed. You should try to catch a replay of it if you can.

Nah far from one-sided. You can make arguments for both fighters of who won.
