Boxing Thread

Nobody ever said that he WEIGHED IN at 160+.

That’s just ludicrous.

He FOUGHT the fight at 160+ when he fought Floyd which is clearly his comfortable weight.

He went into the Pacquiao looking like a fucking Ethiopian on the other hand.

uh PBF fought DLH at 154 so idk what you’re talking about.

if you think hatton firing his trainer and pretty much trying to learn to fight like floyd had no ill effect on him then whatever. his shitty fight against a no-name and then his destruction at the hands pacman say otherwise.

ok…you clearly don’t how weigh-ins work, but i’m supposedly the uninformed one LOL. you only have to make weight the day before the fight most guys just sweat it out or w/e and the balloon back up. check the mayweather/baldomir for a good example, the fight took place at 147 and baldomir came in on fight night at like 163 or something. if marquez was in fact walking around at 142 leading up to the fight then that’d be a HUGE anomaly. HBO usually gives the fighters’ fight day weights on the telecast if the fighters are willing to get on the scale

interesting quotes from PBF

My bad, i misunderstood your post and thought you said DLH weighed in at 160 in his bout with Pac.

Dude, Hatton was in better condition against Pacquiao than he was against Floyd. That’s what i am saying. Hatton was in his best weight and at the same time being trained by Mayweather Sr. Don’t try to give me “this boxer wasn’t the same after he lost to this boxer” excuse because everyone imaged a huge improvement from Hatton during the road to his fight with Pac. The only thing concluded from that last sentence of yours is that Pacquiao was just too much for him, no excuses about it.

You gave the obvious here. Yes, you only have to make the weight the day before the fight and most fighters come in pass the weight when it’s done to fight night. The problem here is that you are underlining my point. PBF was originally two weight classes higher than JMM, so he agreed with the match and the weight limit. You gave this information of Boxers adding pounds after their weigh in yet never thought about those two opponents being in the same weight class from the start. This is a different story here; it’s ironic for the Greatest boxer to take the challenge of an opponent 2 weight classes lower and doesn’t follow by it.

There has never been any serious Boxing fan that has ever criticized PBF’s opponents to be old or washed up. What’s criticized is that PBF broke the weight agreement in his fight against some one 2 weight classes lower.

ALRIGHT! All this Mayweather/Pac comparison needs to go to rest, both men are great so lets just wait for hopeful fight. I enjoy watching Mayweathers because his style is scientific-like so i got nothing to complain about him. I love his counter punching ability.

Anyway, the greatest poster has a question. Do you guys think that Boxing (not the matches) is kinda scripted/planned? Lets say with the whole Mosely coming out during PBF’s post fight interview. Was this shit planned to hype up a fight?

Just at school today, a friend of my girlfriend was talking about her uncle interviewing Manny Pacquiao and from what she said (from uncle) that beefs are usually planned. From her, Manny said that, He and PBF had dinner together in person (just before hatton) and discussed a future match. The plan was for PBF to to go for JMM first (the only known boxer that gave Manny hell), and at the same time get slapped with all sorts of “Manny this and that” in all of his interviews then he’ll snap and react like an asshole after. This was the explanation of the visible size/weight difference between PBF and JMM’s fight. PBF didn’t want to take any chances and secure the road for a PBF/Pac fight.

PBF will get slapped with “Manny this and Manny that” in all of his interviews, and he will snap and go into asshole mode when that topic on Manny comes up. There will not be any PBF interview that doesn’t have him getting pissed by the interviewers for shitting on him with a Manny argument.

This will keep on going, and both men will be going against (and hopefully going through) the other big names first (JMM, Cotto, SSM) to help build the showdown. You’ll see Manny being praised and PBF being shitted on with “why not Manny?” and other demeaning comments.

My Gf’s friend goes into prediction talk after: So , PBF will be talking trash like fuck in all of the pre-fight promotions and possibly pop of a Tyson/Lewis during the weighing and all that.

Again, this is just from a friend of my GF who i never met, and that girl looked like a she was storyteller (meaning full of shit), my girlfriend doesn’t know her that well, shes fat as hell; further more - it seems so WWE-ish. Ironically, The Greatest Poster kinda believes it… in some way (it seems cool). Either that or it’s just because your lord grew up on WWE, so it’s part of my imagination.

I look below my name and see 4 red bars/ PBF and I are similar in allot of ways, we both are undefeated (i’m undefeated in terms of thread hits). I too took a time off shoryuken (like he did with boxing), and when i came back i got allot of hate trains as well. People have been commenting: " Rsigely’s better because he did this and that" but when you get your sources right by checking/remembering my past threads; then i am undeniably the greatest poster in the history of this forum.

You PBF fans have been politicking that PBF gets the unnecessary jealous hate; the invalid contradictions towards him being the best, and the random unnecessary Manny comparisons! It’s the same thing with me. I am your Pretty Boy. I am your thread4thread king. Name anyone and i’ve beaten them all. I am undefeated as a thread OP…
Give me green rep!

Yes its scripted.

You gotta build hype somehow

counter that argument!!

blah blah blah with your pbf nuthugging…
still, in terms of legacy up to now, pac > mayweather… period…

i’d like to see pbf fight [pac, mosley, cotto <if he wins against pac> & williams]. even he’ll go out with a loss, that’s when he’ll get my respect as a fighter and not a manager. 'cause managerial wise, he’s spot on but that’s now how you create a legacy.

Enough about PBF and such, what do you guys think about the upcoming fight between Klitschko and Arreola?

And I’m excited about this news: Richard Schaefer vows to get boxing on network TV within a year

i think it’s still too early for chris is get a crack at one of the klitschko bro’s… but this is the heavyweights, i good hit from anyone and you’re out, so i’m not really counting him out… plus his tough as nails. but if i’m a betting man, i’ll go with klitschko.

if arreola comes in looking like a fat ass per usual vitali is gonna knock his ass out…he’s fighting vitali right?

Sad thing is, your Lord thinks Manny will retire after winning/loosing to Cotto seeing that he’s getting focused on Politics again.
If Manny does go political, please expect his entire legacy and Bayani (hero) status to drop.

One Erap Estrada was already enough, so stick to boxing please. Give me green rep.

Yup, he’s fighting Vitali. I guess Chris’ camp has been saying just look for the weight in on Thursday to see how Arreola is looking. I do kind of agree that he’s getting his shot at Vitali a little too soon but it’s still exciting.

the guy from CHiPs?

Boxing thread right?

I was considering learning Boxing.
But I’m not sure if my characteristics fits it.
Around 120 pounds, 5’6", and my wrist is kinda skinny :|.

I can switch from South paw to regular like a breeze. Vice versa.

So tell me, does wrist size matter? or is it mostly just based on speed and power and proper footworks.

if your wrist size isn’t at least 10 inches in girth then you can’t box. Consult your local boxing instructor for a full debriefing to see whether your body is boxing material

wtf really? 10 inches seems kinda big

waits to be pwned by sarcasm

Is that a typo? 10 inches… wow, :wow:
Wait, is that possible?

are you planning to fight? Are you that worried about the size of your wrists that you would forgo doing something you’re interested in? Does HBO show “Wrist Girth” in their tale of the tapes? There are shorter and lighter people, who probably have smaller wrists than you who are training in boxing. I know a 55 year old, 5’4, 150lbs, 4’ wrist man who trains jiu jitsu regularly. If you just want to do it to get in shape then it doesn’t matter how big your wrists are

i was being sarcastic about the 10 inch wrist =o

 Thanks for the inspiration.
But yeah, I want to fight. Pacquiao is very inspirational.

Knowing that he’s southpaw (correct me if I’m wrong) and filipino too.
And my bro just ordered some Speedbags and a punching bag and a whole bunch of stuffs.

I think it’s perfect for me to start boxing.

I already know the basics, such as defending the jaw most of the time, footworks, angled punches, etc.
Now the thing I’m worried is stamina.
now
I’m also having a problem with my hooks, it seems my hooks are stronger on my left, but I still have no idea how to hook properly on my left, (Proper hooking on the left).

Ambidextrous sux :expressionless:

Yes! Pacquiao is the man, and he is indeed a southpaw!

Good luck to Arreola. I would love for the first Mexican to take a heavyweight title to come my hometown.

It should be a good fight. I aint going the distance thats for sure. Someone’s getting stopped.
