There’s been a change in Donaire’s opponent. He’ll be facing off against Rafael Concepcion from Panama at the Hard Rock Cafe’ in Las Vegas on August 15 for the WBA Super Flyweight title. I don’t know anything about Rafael Concepcion.

Well, Jermain Taylor lost to Carl Froch. Anyone expecting this?

I mean, Taylor has problems late-matches, he gets gassed real hard. He was dominating the first half of the fight, but Froch came back and knocked him down in the last round, then with everything he had, kept punching Taylor and the Ref stopped it.

It was nuts.

Anyone watching Friday night fights atm?

David Haye: Klitschko is the cure for insomina, he puts me to sleep.

damn, I completely forgot about FNF

 • check’s ESPN’s fight schedule*

USA’s future heavyweight hopeful Deontay Wilder. He has the height to compete 6’7"

Daniel Jacobs is one of the future stars and he’s fighting the main event.

Other future stars in action this weekend:

Victor Ortiz - HBO is banking on him to be the next big star a la Oscar de la Hoya without the gold medal.

Vanes Martirosyan

Juan Manuel Lopez - Puerto Rican superstar is trying to get the same limelight as fellow countryman Miguel Cotto.

Arthur Abraham - big star in Germany. 2nd best fighter in the middleweight division.

Jorge Linares - returns after recovering from an injury. Not televised

haye can talk all of that cute shit if he wants, but klitschko is gonna break that nigga.

I caught the second half of Danny Jacobs fight and I like what I saw. Has good technique and throws good combination.

My local sports station just finished showing Rahman vs Lewis 1. Boring ass fight, but good KO finish.

If it was Haye that was in the ring against Wlad that night, he would of got peaced the fuck out. Haye lost the right to talk shit after pulling out of the fight. Now he has to actually earn a shot. To be honest, David Haye probably can’t beat a real top 10 heavyweight so he is running is mouth trying to “cash in” his only bargaining chip, the British people/ media. Haye is going to fool them like Ricky Hatton fooled them twice into thinking he had a “serious” shot against Mayweather/ Pacquiao. Can’t blame Haye for trying to get paid with his glass chin, but there is a price to pay for it.

Lennox Lewis must have been so embarrassed after getting KO’ed like that.

If anyone wants to see the future of boxing, check out Victor Ortiz on HBO tonight. This young talent is exciting and he is having the hardest test in his career so far. His opponent, from what I hear, is no joke.

Victor Ortiz: 24-1 (19 KO) his one loss was a DQ loss, I think, from a headbutt

Marcos Maidana: 25-1 (24 KO) judging by his record, dood can punch. His only loss was a controversial split decision loss to Andriy Kotelnik who is going to defend his WBA belt against Amir Khan in a couple of weeks

On paper, this should be a great fight, two young hungry fighters for the interim WBA belt. The winner should have a shot against the winner of Kotelnik vs. Khan

The Ortiz Maidana fight was good, lots of fast paced action, not sure what happened at the end though, Ortiz looked like he was building up good momentum and all of a sudden gave up.

Arthur Abraham looked solid, I’ve never seen him before.

heyyy well check this out.

Its me vs my bud max. Tell me what you think.

Five knockdowns in six rounds. A very good fight and I would love to see both fighters in action again.

Victor Ortiz. Wow, he turned off “a lot” of hardcore boxing fans by quitting like that. I sympathize with him in a “I don’t want to end up like Ali in the future” way, but now he is going to be tarred and feathered by the boxing community and media. Ortiz also lost his fan base and respect from Oscar de la Hoya followers/ Mexican- Americans. All Spanish speaking countries have this “Machismo/ Mas Macho/ Warrior” attitude for men and in the sport of boxing ( that is why there are so many great fighters from Spanish speaking countries). And for Ortiz to quit like that was shocking. He was very honest in his post fight interview and I applaud that. Ortiz fought a great fight, he just was inexperienced, but gained a lot from this loss. He just needs to weather the shit storm from the media and hardcore fans. He’s still young (22), but his heart will be questioned in any upcoming big fights he may have in the future.

As a fellow south-paw, Ortiz’es defense against right hands were terrible. As a south paw, the first thing we look for against a righty is the right hand, over and over again.

Maidana should face off against the winner of Khan vs. Kotelnik. A great win, getting off the canvas three times to stop Ortiz. All fighters from Argentina are tough as nails ( as in every Spanish seaking country).

yup studies have shown that multiple concussions actually make it harder for your brain to recover from head trauma and future concussions. its fighting an uphill slope. so thats why its not always good to go the distance and be careful of your head.

wait, what happened? he quit bcuz the fight was getting to brutal? if so that’s fucking terrible, you finish the fight and retire afterwards if that’s how you feel, no props for throwing in the towel bcuz you didn’t wanna take a beating.

and yeah getting concussed is like blacking out from alcohol. once it happens once, the probability of it happening again are higher.

Maidana was hitting behind Ortiz’es head all night. Victor dipped low and caught one on the back of his head.

with the talk of concussions, made a quick video:

Edit: just finished watching the Arthur Abraham fight. Looked good as usual. He’ll probably go to Super Middle and try to get a belt to set up a match against Kelly Pavlik when he eventually goes up in weight.

I’m saddened to report on the death of former featherweight champion Alexis “The Explosive Thin Man” Arguello. At 130 lbs he bacame a champion in 3 weight divisions. Such classic fights against (my favorite) Aaron Pryor, Ruben Olivares & Bobby Chacon (I think he also fought Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini.).

Career record of 82-8, inducted into the Hall of Fame in '92. The man was truly a great boxer and champion.

Reports are circulating that he was shot in his chest, probably a suicide, but nothing is confirmed.

R. I. P. Alexis Arguello

I thought it was just me. He has great power and stamina. He can even take a good hit. Speed needs to be improved on. Hand - eye coordination is suspect.

But for some reason just watching him fight just makes me wish that the fight was over already.

I can’t believe I hadn’t heard about this. I need to get back in the loop. RIP

Although I only seen his fight with Aaron Pryor, Arguello is a very classy fighter as seen in his fight with Ray Mancini. r.i.p.

over the 4th of July weekend, we probably seen America’s great heavyweight hope in “Fast” Eddie Chambers from Philly.

6’1" Eddie Chambers was coming off a victory against Samuel Peters ( and a career heavy 225 lbs) and came into this fight at a very light and fit 209 lbs. He went into the Lion’s den in Germany for the second time to beat former undefeated, 6’7" 253 lbs, Ukraine, Alexander Dimitrenko.

Dimitrenko is the softest 6’7" fighter since 6’9" American Tye Fields whom was KO’ed in the first round by Monte Barrett.

Chambers fought the perfect fight and had his way with the giant on the inside with sharp uppercuts. Upped a video highlight:

Chambers scored two knockdowns and easily won this fight. I’d like to see Eddie Chambers up against David Haye or a rematch with Wladimir mandatory, Alexander Povetkin.

If Chris Arreola can get into shape like Chambers, American heavyweight fight fans would have more to cheer about.

Arguello truly was a great champion, I remember I had a tape with his 2nd round KO of Kevin Rooney, and the Pryor fights were incredible. I still gotta watch Ortiz-Maidana from last weekend. Eddie Chambers won convincingly huh? he looked AWFUL against Sam Peter.

Donaire’s probably my fave boxer atm. His boxing is fucking beautiful. Textbook, crisp, sharp, just perfection. If you want to learn how to box/throw punches, watch Donaire. He puts it together so perfectly sometimes.

The guy’s a stud. Can box, brawl and counter at the highest level. The counter left hook KO of Darchinyan was just classic.

for realz. i’m tired of seeing all of these fat sloppy american heavyweights, it’s like they lose the upper weight limit and forget that they’re still supposed to be a professional athlete and stay in shape.
