Chagaev to replace Haye against Klitschko. I guess it better than replacing Haye with some random nobody. I haven’t seen both these guys fight so I have no comment.

yeah i agree with you about lewis/klitschko. he was on the ropes, but at the end of the day lewis did the smart thing and just went to work on vitali’s face and got the W. and in every rubbermatch lewis had he destroyed his opponent, no reason to think the same thing wouldn’t have happened to vitali, holyfield is the only guy he fought twice and didn’t knockout iirc.
With all that shit talk Haye did, Haye goes to the back of the line. Haye was lucky to talked his way to a championship fight while accomplishing “nothing” at heavyweight. Now, he has to wait at least another year. If Wlad gets past Chagaev, Alexander Povetkin is the mandatory. Unlike David Haye, Chagaev is a top 10 heavyweight and handed Valuev his first defeat, thank god, keeping Valuev away from Rocky Marciano’s record. Wald has to adjust to Chagaev’s southpaw style and they’re about the same height, too bad U.S. fans won’t be able to see this, although, it might be a good thing.
At least David Haye can have chance to build up his name and meet one of the Klitschkos down the road for an even bigger fight. Good names to build Haye’s resume in the heavyweight division:
John Ruiz (ZzZzZzZzZz…)
Samuel Peter
How about Cristobal Arreola vs. David Haye . That would be an awesome fight.
chagaev is top 10 heavyweight…but he sucks imo, pretty much all of the non-klitschko belt holders are on scrub status imo. i expect to wlad to jab him into death and then drop that overhand to end it around the 7 or 8th.
No offence to Europeans, but (Eastern) Euro heavyweights are terrible. Too bad American heavyweights are too undisciplined these days. American athletes would rather play basketball and football then boxing. Boxing takes too much discipline for kids these days.
I wish Samuel Peter would pick up his regiment and polish himself. I really like him for some reason I don’t completely understand, but he seems to be falling into the trap the rest of the heavyweight division has for a while now.
I would love to see the Klitscho brothers get put into real pressure fights, and see the heavyweight division pick up in general.
That was why Waldimir Klistchko vs. David Haye had a lot of potential. What David Haye, supposely, was going to bring to the table was pressure, pressure that both Klistchko brothers haven’t seen before (example - Mayweather vs. Hatton). Haye would have made Wlad have to work and not jab his way to victory. Too bad Haye pulled out though.
Wladimir Klitschko vs. Ruslan Chagaev
Chagaev is a legit top heavyweight (unlike David Haye) so this fight is not that bad. Chagaev might even put up a better fight then Haye.
the best way to beat wladimir is to just jump in, throw something at his chin and hope for the best. chagaev might be able to pull it off, but i doubt it.
yeah peters started getting fat like every other heavyweight and now he sucks. if he gets back in shape and works on his footwork he might be a problem again…altho realistically his only losses are the 2 the klitschko’s so i guess he still is a problem for the rest of the division.
it’s sad that if arlovski actualy moves over from MMA he’ll probably breeze thru a lot of these guys simply bcuz he’s faster and in shape lol

HBO closed shop on Klitschko vs. Chagaev, ESPN is in negotiations to possibly broadcast the fight. Sam Peter lacks dedication as his last two with Klitschko and Chambers showed, and it’s sad to think his best performances were against a faded James Toney. Sam Peter is a bottom feeder heavy it seems now, a guy that will look impressive beating bums but never the upper level. I’m very excited about Clottey-Cotto this weekend, I would give the edge to Clottey as he hits hard and is very tough.
Just found out Ivan Calderon is fighting in the same card as Cotto vs Clottey. I haven’t seen any of his fights, but I’ve read some articles about him. I always see the same phrase “best pure boxer in the world” but always see him in the bottom half of the P4P list. Does his lack of power and lack to draw big fights hurt his chances?
This saturday event should be a good one.
Well, Ivan Calderon is only 5’. So he is at a size disadvantage against everyone he faces. In boxing, the lighter weight classes you fight in, the less visible you are no matter how good you are. Prince Naseem Hamed made it big at featherweight, but anything south of 122 (junior featherweight), it’s hard to be visible. Notice that HBO doesn’t show fights south of 122. But to get back to Ivan Calderon, watch some of his fight. He is very good at hitting and not getting hit. He doesn’t run and throws a lot of punches. He is the Willie Pep of this generation.
Ivan Calderon just beat Hugo Cazares twice and is on his way to a fight with Filipino American Brian Viloria who just beat Ulessis Solis who was dubbed a “filipino assassin”. Ivan Calderon is fighting a fighter that Solis beat.
I’ll give a tip for the boxing casual fans: The lighter the weight classes, the better the fights are P4P. Don’t sleep on the fly-bantam-featherweight divisions.
July 11 (Showtime) Joseph Agbeko vs. Vic Darchinyan, 12 rounds, for Agbeko’s IBF bantamweight title
one of the best matchups south of 122. I seen Agbeko live before, this guy has a good chance of beating Vic.
A long analysis on Cotto vs. Clottey coming up. I’m making a case on why I believe Clottey will win.

I am still waiting on this, I rarely have anyone to talk about boxing with and figured this would have made for interesting conversation. I mean it should be obvious for anyone this fight will be ending by decision, cotto will box and run why clottey will prod forward, low punch output costing him rounds all the way through
I know you didn?t meant ?run? in a bad way, there?s a big difference in ?box? and ?run?. Cotto did not run against Margarito, he boxed his ass off, setting traps for Margarito, but he made the mistake of giving away all the real estate ( stayed on the ropes).
Miguel Cotto’s greatest hits:
We all know what Cotto is going to bring to the table. He is, now, a complete fighter that will box and throw combinations in spots. He will not make the same mistake, like in the Margarito fight, and strictly fight off the ropes and not use his left hook to the body. He will use the entire ring and more of his signature punch. Cotto has a pretty damn good jab too, though.
But, in this fight. The jab won?t be as important as it usually is for both fighters. Hooks and uppercuts are the key. Also, foot movement (speed) won?t be too much of a factor here. Both fighters are very deceiving. They are not slick movers but both their hand speed are very good.
I?m making this post because most don?t know who Clottey is. But, I?ve followed his last seven fights and I believe Clottey can win this fight. Clottey is a complete fighter just like Cotto. Clottey is very solid in skills, has a iron chin and a good body. He is like a tank. Clottey is a true welterweight while Cotto is a smaller guy, but Cotto has made welterweight his home. Though he is not tall and rangey like Margarito, but makes up for it in defense and intelligence. Clottey prefers to walk his opponents down with ?intelligent? pressure. Clottey can counter punch and has a high guard defense a la Winky Wright. Clottey has very good defense and no fighters lands many solid shots on Clottey. Clottey is going to make an adjustment for Cotto?s body shots for sure. Clottey uses both hands very well, but his main weapon will be his left uppercut. The same left uppercut that was killing Cotto from Margarito. I don?t think the jab will be too effective in this fight from either fighter, just as a range finder and set up, not really going to be a true scoring punch. Even though Clottey has two loses in his record, he has never been beaten. We all seen Cotto beaten up.
Clottey?s main negative. His activity level. He can be out-worked while looking for the opportunity because he doesn?t waste punches. He doesn?t use the jab often, but like I said, the jab may not be too much effective in this fight. But, Clottey will have to make adjustments for this fight. So I don?t think he will allow himself to be out-worked in his biggest fight on the biggest stage. Also Clottey has a history of breaking his hands. In the Margarito fight, he was winning the fight easily in the fight half, but broke both his hands in the second. Clottey may have broken his hand in the Richard Gutierrez fight. Also Clottey tends to lead in with his head (when lunging with a right hand), he’ll have to watch that if he doesn’t want points deducted.
Cotto?s biggest negative is his stamina. Clottey is known to run 12 miles a day, so he has stamina and will be their for the entire fight. Cotto has questionable stamina. In his fight against Mosley, the audience, including myself, were thrown off by Cotto retreating the last five rounds. And in the Margarito fight, faded in the second half. I’ll throw in Cotto’s true “power” we seen in 140, but not too much against top 147 fighters. Will his power be enough against Clottey?
I can see a Cotto victory if he boxes and fights in spots, keep the fight in the center of the ring, lateral movement, and not give up his real estate and out working Clottey. Hoping Cotto?s stamina will not betray him. Clottey has to make Cotto work every second in every round while trying to break him down in the process. Cotto might fade in the second half of the fight.
After all this ?blah blah blah-ing?, I predict Clottey winning. This fight will not go the distance. This is not an easy fight for both fighters and on paper, this is the most even big fight this year. Somebody is getting KO?ed. But, bottom line, all we want as boxing fans is one hell of a fight. And I believe we are going to get that this Saturday. This is a mega-fight for the hardcore fans.

watched the local boy from Gilroy, Robert Guerrero in San Jose, CA Friday night Fights, live. And he did what his fans wanted to see him do last time. If Robert is serious in challenging the belt holders in 130 or 135, all fights would be good match ups:
Jorge Linares, Venezuela (WBA)
Humberto Soto, Mexico (WBC, the best fighter in the division)
Roman Martinez, Puerto Rico (WBO)
June 19 - Montreal (Versus): Adrian Diaconu vs. Jean Pascal, 12 rounds, for Diaconu’s WBC light heavyweight title
this is a very underrated fight. Both are from Quebec and are rivals, and this is one of the biggest fights in Canada. I recommend watching this fight.
when a beginner first starts boxing. it is just as much learning to be comfortable taking a punch then to give one. Work on the basics:
proper stance, proper movement
balance
textbook style of throwing punches
do not lunge ( common beginner mistake), learn distance
conditioning
get some headgear
