Small World is OK, a little tame for my tastes but its a solid game that can be played as casually 3-5 players or with more depth than you’d realize at first glance 2 players. 2011’s “Small World Underground” (sort of a sequel I guess) I find a bit more interesting than the vanilla version because the powers are more exciting, but damn is the board ugly
Picked up Wiz-War on the weekend finally.
Haven’t had a chance to play it yet, looks like a goddamn circus though.
Drawing spells from a deck of 200 cards… Can’t wait to pop it’s cherry!
And still waiting for Descent 2E to come out.
I hear they will be releasing the rules soon!
Underground is more of an expansion than a sequel. There are rules for using the characters from either set on either board. There are also rules on using both boards at the same time (which makes sense considering that Underground is literally the underground areas of the small world).
I forgot to mention I saw this game when I went to the board game store on the weekend.
CHAOSTLE!!
It’s an RPG version of Sorry. Looks actually really really fun haha
Screw this complex stuff, who wants to play Candy Land?
Candy Land? That’s the Smash Bros. of board games.
Real men play Dungeonquest. Where you have a 15% chance to survive, let alone win.
Real men play Candy Land… with do-overs!
I’ve been reading through this thread a bit and it really interests me.
My roommate is kind of an anti-social weirdo, but he digs stuff like this. Thinking about picking something up so he can like… you know, do shit with friends.
Game of Life, Monopoly, Sorry and the occasional DOW40K. I haven’t played DOW in years though, so I probably can’t even count that. Been playing a lot of Sorry though.
Dug around on my android and found a lot of board games on here. Cool.
Also, found a pretty awesome TCG for Android and iOS. It’s called Shadow Era.
Dawn of War board game???
Honestly speaking, I could never get into a board game. Maybe I just lack that kind of crowd? I don’t know.
Bet that by the end of my shift I won’t have a working (and FUN!) concept for a DIVEKICK, THE GAME, THE CARD GAME game.
Flash Duel reminds me of Divekick.
I’ve had a lot of fun with Wiz-War, not all plays are as fun as others though. Sometimes it just fizzles and other times its the most hilarious game ever. It’s short though, so you can play again when it doesn’t work.
Sort of burnt out on it though since everyone wanted to play it constantly the first month I got it.
i dont think rules for combining both boards are official, at least theyre not in my rulebook (I don’t see how playing with such a large board could be fun anyway?). Mixing and playing on one board definitely is supported, it’s sort of a hassle though for many of the powers
It’s certainly somewhat backwards compatible, I just feel weird calling it an expansion because the mixture isn’t seamless and it isn’t typically advertised as an expansion
EDIT: It’s actually a free mini-expansion for the game called Small World Tunnels. You can only get it when you order from the Days of Wonder site.
I guess I shouldn’t call it a board game since it’s considered a “table top” game. I mean, you lay out a map or objects and put game pieces on it. So it sounds like a board game to me.
Oh. That’s not Dawn of War. That’s just the 40K table top lol
I don’t really see underground as an improvement on Small World. Plus the board is uglier and the races are not as fun in my opinion.
Try to find a shop that demos games. Some shops have demos for LOTS of games.
And yes, Puerto Rico is the shit. Classic game.
Oh, interesting. Never knew about that – thanks, I’m gonna order it now!
