Coincidentally, this is why I eventually shut up about my wishlists. After doing a little research and talking to my comic-following friend, I came to realize something important: The Marvel product lines I grew up with in the 90s have moved on. Marvel is doing other things now. Sure, the stuff I liked is still around in one form or another, but Marvel is building new products and trying to win new fans, not wring a few last dollars out of my 90s nostalgia. They’re smart to do so.
I’m a fan of what Marvel used to be. I am neutral toward current Marvel because it is clear I have not kept up well on the current storylines and can freely admit I have no idea who a lot of the new characters are. At this point I’m conceding I’m ignorant on the matter and comics have moved on without me. Such is life; 90s “raincoat and Bret Hart glasses Jubilee” is gone, the Punisher is mired down in licensing issues that might keep him out of UMvC3, and most of the other stuff I like is already present in some form or another, or isn’t on Marvel’s radar because it was last relevant fifteen years ago. I’ll live.
eat the cookies: He even has the kick to go with it. Granted, it’s only a Special and not a powerful Hyper move, but he has a ‘Rider Kick’ in his Centurion Arts move tree, I believe. I imagine this reason for me liking him is probably a bit irking to real fans of the Nova character and comic, but I mean no harm by it.
Should’ve stated this - but that wasn’t a direct comment or attack towards you, just in general. More of the people annoyingly acting as if they were up to date and had some type of knowledge about what was going on in the comics.
If it makes you feel better, Jubilee still rocks the Bret glasses from time to time.

Quite alright. There are a few hobbies I have where I get annoyed at ‘pretenders’ for that sort of thing, and I know how it goes. I used to be a more mild form of what you’re complaining about, but A> I was pretty mild about it; the occasional “will Marvel consider allowing the Punisher, Beast, and Jubilee in to MvC3?” thing without being pushy, and B> I shut the hell up once I realized why that’s not going to happen.
Edit, replying to Class Real: A bit, yeah. Still, it sounds like the tone of her storyline these days is far different from what it was back when I actively followed her.
Anyway, to return to Nova play talk… sadly I got busy and haven’t had a chance to do the regular-MvC3 Iron Man plus Morrigan ‘flight training for Nova’ some of you suggested. We’re also sounding like he has flight-canceled air dash combos too, akin to Doom and Magneto?
Do what I am doing, wait for UMvC3, and record yourself failing horribly at execution during matches!

Punisher’s still pretty popular, I’d love to have him in MvC3. I think Niitsuma said he’d be too much like Chris though…

If they could find a way to make x-23, a literal clone of wolverine be completely different from him, I don’t see any problems in that regard. On paper, yea there doesn’t seem like anything you can bring to the table with punisher that chris doesn’t already, but Im sure if they tried they could fit him in. With that said there are TONS of marvel characters id much rather see than punisher, so it works out fine for me that he didn’t make it in. Plus if we are getting another gunslinger it had better be bishop, just saying.

Anyways, as far as flight combos go, I tried to pull off a few, but it was kind of weird, so it didn’t really amount to much. I feel like his day 1 BNB would be ABC–rocket punch crumple-- BCS-- j.B j.B j.C-- rocket punch wallbounce-- BC-- super, or something to that effect, that way we avoid the scaling of his j.S

My first instinct would be to fly after the wallbounce.
Oh you could do fly before it, sorta like our mags/storm loops and then do wallbounce, seeing as though you drop alot faster than your opponent, then just hit confirm into hyper
Yea I only want him cause of the potential his mutant ability would have for unique gameplay. He can absorb projectiles right? I think if implemented properly that could introduce something interesting and unique to the game.
Oh and is it weird that Im excited to see his alternate colors on tomorrow? I really wanna see what directions they go, but I have this nagging feeling that they are gonna suck for some reason.
