I don’t think it’s as important as people let on. In any case Nova looks like he has workable assists (the shield at least), not godlike or extremely versatile, but has the potential to support the right team setup. Morrigan and Felicia are considered solid anchors but their best assists wouldn’t be considered amazing either
He has mobility, combos off of air grabs, assist punishing hypers and a fast activating flight so he could end up like Magneto or Dante and be workable in all positions. I’m honestly convinced he’ll be best in that 2nd spot since his offense will be much scarier with an assist backing him
I dont know why, but nova scared me. What three things make people extremly good in marvel(at least from what ive gathered) is
Little/No use of meter to kill a character
The abillity to combo of throws and have easy OTG’s that lead to combos
High Low Mixups or 50/50 mixups that can be done easily
Nova looks like he has all three along with flight cancel, 8 way dash, good ground mobility, projectile invincible super and a beam super. As soon as i saw his trailer i got scared, though maybe im the only one
I’m playing Nova as Assist 1, personally. His dive kick assist might help give Iron Fist some more air control, or the shield could help his defensive game. Skrull will be my anchor, because he’s my best character and I can do a lot with him solo. I’m not sure which Skrull assist would help Nova the most, though. Definitely not Stone Smite; Nova can OTG fine on his own.
I’d say Left/Right mixups are scarier in this game. Just look at teleporters. But yeah, I think Nova has what it takes to be great. It’s early to say that, but like I said earlier, he looks like the distillation of almost everything that makes a character scary in Vanilla, sans teleports.
So did he get his overhead otg as an assist? Im really confused as to what his other 2 assists are. Im guessing its the shield, the rocket punch and the overhead but Im really not sure.
EDIT: So after watching the vid, it seems his assists are the wall bounce rocket punch, shield, and the diagonal dive kick. He has potential as an assist character, but doesn’t seem to have anything serious yet.
Isn’t the shield more like Dorm’s blackhole? It’s mention’d the thing doesn’t relfect or stop attacks, it hits mutiple times. I guess for zoning purposes.
He looks best at mid-range fighting to me. I’ve been running IM pretty well with Thor for awhile now, and I like his mid-range stuff with Thors really well. If that’s true, then sorry Tony…Nova looks like he take your spot.
I bought the first 2 collected volumes of his newest series on Friday (so, issues 1-12). He’s now my 3rd favorite Marvel character, next to Deadpool and Iron Fist.
You should pick up most of his stuff since Annilation. Amazon has most of his stuff pretty affordable…except vol 5. It’s out-of-print, meaning minimum $20.
