That’s because all of this only became an issue when shit started flying here. If you wanted to complain, you should have said something about it at the tournament (though actually if we weren’t allowed to stream on top of there being no stream for BBCS we probably would have packed up and asked for a refund). There were somethings that could of gone better, but for the most part the event was all right even with everything that went down.
Just for our crew to be smack talked and treated badly here- I’m hoping you can imagine why we’re not happy about that. Not to mention it’s the internet. If you’re going to talk trash don’t do it like the people who you’re talking trash about aren’t going to see it.
For those who want to watch Blazblue CS top 5, those will be uploaded to Youtube at some point and time. There’s not any commentary because my setup was brought as a back up (hence no mic for commentary). I was going to ask for one, but considering the general treatment we got at the event it was decided better that we didn’t.
Because for us it wasn’t so great but we still made the best of it and had fun with you guys. If Happy had came and talked to us on BK or talked about us streaming on Dustloop none of this would have been brought up.
We had our shit straight because if we didn’t BlazBlue wouldn’t have happened at all at BK.
We’re not just trying to start shit for no reason or because we hate the SF community or anything. Some things were promised but didn’t happen, we can deal with that, but what’s not cool is talking smack here instead of coming to us about it first.
We’re not trying to tarnish the whole thing, everything else was run pretty well for Happy’s first tournament. We’re just a little letdown the BB portion wasn’t ran anywhere near as smooth as the SFIV and Tekken portions.
The BB scene isn’t grimy, you are just grimy with the ungrateful rude way you’re coming at the guy who organized a huge event on his own (with help from his wife and other friends). I hope people don’t start hating an entire scene just because one dude (Polka) is being a complete ass. You got your post deleted before, yet you haven’t learned. You need to stop posting, you’re really making your scene look bad.
I find that entire post really ironic considering all the stuff posted here by the SF4 crew. Raptor and vet are trying to be nice about it. Vet got modded and called a liar for it. I am being rude about it, but looking at which side threw the first stone should you guys really be talking?
Pro-tip: Apology would be nice about how immature it is to trash talk a scene like they won’t be able to see it.
Especially since we were pretty understanding about anything not SF4 being a “bring your own tourney”.
Forgive me here but what part of anything in SF4 and Tekken smooth. Shit was chaotic group effort put together by people who took the time to help out. People like Tanaka Force and Frankdadank and others. Not everything was ran perfect but yet, which one of us do you see bitching about it. Nobody expects shit to run exactly how it was previously written when it comes to video game tournaments. As far as i know whenever we were trying to get matches started and trying to find open set ups, we had 2-3 BB players trying to cram into the small space where the laptop was, asking who do they play next instead of waiting patiently like everyone else.
Wish yall were the ones in charge of the SF bracket or Tekken bracket and then come to us about how smooth it was. GTFO with that non-sense.
This is a predominantly street fighter populated forum, so of course most of the talking will be done by the SF people.
As for you throwing stones comment, that doesn’t even matter anymore, the point is that the arguing needs to stop.
As for demanding an apology, that seems pretty unfair at this point considering the dearth of negative comments and just plain attitude you have displayed. This should not devolve into a scene vs scene argument, because its only involving 3 or 4 people right now. To generalize would be to ask for a fight that neither side wants to handle, especially right now.
this is the only thing I said concerning the stream you guys setup, I’m failing to see how this is trash talk. unless you’re referring to the comment about the wristband. seriously everyone stop with this petty bullshit.
so now on to how to make this not happen again.
console released only games
1 stream to rule them all
more control over internet connection
dedicated event staff (I think I should have pushed harder for people to help out)
also I was trying to not lump the different scenes together, I don’t know if anyone noticed but I tried to have SF setups next to tekken setups next to BB/GG setups. though I wish I could have scored and actual cabinet for in the gallery space.
Okay, I KNOW I was the first person to throw the stone and I need to defend something or another with what I said.
My comment was directed towards the stream and what happened as far as bandwidth goes, and I have no ill-feelings towards the BB community or anything, it was just one giant cluster fk of miscommunication. I did talk to Veteru about the streaming thing, and after being informed that the Taito uses a DVI output, for what I had (read: No HDMI -> DVI converter) the result would have been me using my firewire cam to focus on the stream.
I had misunderstood Veteru when he was talking about the webcam setup because I thought that he meant he’d just record then upload later. Had I known they still wanted to stream, I could have worked with, and accommodated it.
But ya know what, this is how I look at it, by some crazy matter there were people from the SF community, Tekken Community, BB/GG community all getting together at an event. There were players playing SF4 who were playing BB, BB players playing SF4, Tekken players playing SF4 and everything in between. The event was streamed and recorded well and we all know things that can help make it better for the next time.
With that, I have 4 things to say
GOOD SHIT to David and his wife for putting this event together. In that same breath, thank you to the Canoe Social Club for hosting the event. I thought it was very well put together, and all I can say is that this event will UNDOUBTEDLY get more people interested in the art they can submit and even to show up to help make this a success.
GOOD JOB TO EVERYONE WHO SHOWED UP. IMO without ya’ll showing up, this event may not have been done well. Amazing job by Jetay, Tanaka Force and everyone else who helped run the brackets.
Yeah, there were hitches, and if there weren’t any then IMO something went wrong haha. All I can say that if/when David holds the next event, a lot of us will know what needs to change, what needs to stay and everything in between.
GO WATCH THE VIDS I RECORDED! haha. Yeah, self whoring is always #1http://www.youtube.com/bloodyknuckles2010 IF you recorded anything and would like them to be uploaded, let me know via PM please.
Also,
You should have asked, because it wouldn’t ever hurt to ask.
Now here is a serious question I have for everyone,
For those of you who showed up, what was your favorite, or some of your favorite art pieces? Did this event inspire you to try to create something in the future?
I didn’t make the time at the event to thank you in person, but major thanks you for bringing this all to fruition. You definitely delivered more than I was expecting. More than a tourney. I’m glad to have been able to be a part of it.
And thanks to the CanoeSC for hosting. I hope the place wasn’t too messy after we left; I tried to pick up as much random garbage I could find before heading out. That is such a tight venue. Drinking Ranier tall boys and playing fucking fighting games!
Masando’s acrylic/sharpie “future” was my personal fave…and if there is another BK event please believe I’ll be making an effort to contribute…perhaps in music? ^^
I think my favorite aspect of the gallery show were the two black and white pieces. Brent and I had almost the same idea only expressed in two totally different styles. they were also the only two black and white pieces submitted. and here is a little secret, they both had the exact same title until I called brent to find out what he wanted to call his.
I think Masa’s portrait of The Future was pretty sweet. My initial reaction was just like a tickled surprise “Ha! Is that The Future sitting at GameWorks?!” He’s a fixture and the composition itself literally feels like it’s pulled from my visual memory. Then more how it looked like he was just putting in another day at the office. The dedication that represents and how its a game and work, and of course at GameWorks. Just gets to make that connnection on a more personal level. It’d be cool to see an accompanying piece of Chris (C. Sugar) on the right hand side. BK2?
