They do know what they are doing, it’s getting out of a business that isn’t making them money anymore (video games).
As much as I hate to say it, Konami makes more money from their other businesses (pachinko, health clubs, toys, etc.) than from video games, which is why, from a purely business sense, getting rid of the video game division makes sense.

This is what strikes me as odd.
In the paradoxical world of investment and share holders, net growth is required for every new product. That’s not feasible in the video game market.
Budgets have gotten so out of control, and the demand that video games return a specified net profit that grows with every new game. Industry is one step away from utter collapse.
AAA budgets and games are not suistanable. Gaming is in the same state that Hollywood was in the 60’s where everything had to be AAA and epic.
I cannot lie, just using the Dark Inferno attack in the beginning was enough to wreck most shit. Teleporting into enemies while invincible and letting them get hit by that shit is pretty much how I leveled up in the beginning by using that to got into areas were the enemies could one shot you and using that to fuck them up. Good times.
The industry needs to find a way to lower their costs and make none-AAA games viable again. It used to be that we’d get a good number of non-AAA games that were decent in their own right. But now we’re in a state where we only have 2 types of games, AAA or indies.
What was the last boss you killed? Did you kill Crocomire? If you did, you should be able to get the grapple beam.
I mean, it’s pretty useless outside of ONE boss fight, but it helps you acquire the Ice Beam as well which makes EVERYTHING easier.
You should also be able to reach the Spazer upgrade, if I remember correctly (and I’m pretty sure I do).
Of course all of this becomes irrelevant once you get the Space Jump.
Very interested in the castle basement stretch goals. Vita/3DS/WiiU ports would be awesome. Honestly as long as Iga doesn’t pull a Mighty No.9 and switch the awesome 2.5D art for shit looking 3D I’ll be happy. Never put money into a kickstarter. Take my $60 Iggy.

2.5D is 3D…it’s 3D on a 2D plane…M#9 is still 2.5D.
I fixed myself. I was all out of order… still am I think but that’s part of the fun. I was talking about it in the ‘currently playing’ thread. Kraid was the only boss I beat. Spazer/Hi Jump/Morph Ball/Varia Suit/Missiles/Super Missiles/Speed Up were my upgrades. I also didn’t see the animals that acted as the wall jumping, or boost jump, tutorial so I didn’t know about that skill until I googled “can you get super fucking stuck in Metroid” and saw someone talk about it.
I was worried about this at first because MN9 looks pretty soulless from the screens I’ve seen but then I remembered 2014 Strider so I’m not worried anymore. That game looks good.
One of the best things about Super Metroid is that you can tackle the game in just about any order you like. Great game, I hope Bloodstained is as open. One of SOTNs strengths was that it was also pretty open to what order you wanted to tackle the castle in.
@Sonicabid : Damn…that ‘Dev play’ video was dope! It’s amazing how much little details the dev team put in SoTN. Not to go off-topic but I hope that yt channel blows up. Imagine the following ‘Dev Plays’ session: Chrono Trigger, Demon’s Soul, Super Mario Bros 3 etc.
I like if this game broke up the map into mini levels like Portrait of Ruin and OoE.

We knew what you meant. I even addressed that very issue a in another thread. No game ever looks like it’s concept art. No Final Fantasy has ever looked like this
The only thing I really miss from that M#9 concept art is the lighting. The lighting in the art looks like it would have been pretty dynamic and nice, and in the game proper there just seems to be no lighting at all which is kind of disappointing. Otherwise not a big deal imo. If anything the concept art shows a game where the camera is way too fuckin close, you’d be getting hit from off screen constantly.

my biggest concern is that they’ll decide to not make anything “hidden”.
By that i mean all the cryptic stuff that you got in SOTN , glasses/gold ring/silver ring/etc… That kinda stuff!

At the same time i don’t feel like Iga will disappoint me either , so…
