BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT aka the Spiritual successor of Symphony of the Night

especially when you know how to break the system

Hardest difficulty from the jump. :triumph:

@Darksakul: agreed. Perhaps, I should’ve used the word forgivable instead as the games tend to be pretty challenging if you don’t grind, though they usually give you enough consumables (not to mention decent saveroom locations) to prepare you for what’s ahead anyway.

@Eskills: mydude! Played a few hours yesterday night, got fkn rekt! Never made it out of the Minerva but I’m having so much fun! The challenge is real, enemies seem to be pretty aggressive and the bosses have to be executed perfectly; looking forward to more deaths later today.

Glad you liked it IGN, thanks for the great review! Wish us luck everyone for that sweet 10/10 next time! (…Bloodstained will be training…) (ąø‡ •̀_•́)ąø‡

Edit: I mean, IF there’s a next time, of course…

ā€œTip for anyone playing: Getting a Passive Shard to Rank 9 (max) will turn it into an always on Skill Shard, which can really give you a huge boost of power. You can also still keep your favorite passive equipped to double dip its power.ā€

Normally I default to XBOX on all multiplats, unless it’s a fighting game, then PS4 is the choice.

This game I assume is a D-pad game, which means I might rather play it on PS4 as well. Another matter is my XBOX is an 1X, my PS4 is a standard. Does that affect this game? FPS? This patch business for XBOX sounds like a negative.

Game is godlike.

Stuck at 99.60 castle completion.

Need to beat OD’s ass. Level 9 summon bats is hilarious.

told ya you would like it!

100% monster completion, all extra bosses rekt, 99.X% map completion(I swear all I have left are secret rooms) and I’m at 71% trophy completion. Once you get the sprint/wave dash ability from the ninja and the super jump it feels so, so good to zip around the castle. I loved these same upgrades in Dawn, Portrait and Ecclesia too. You feel fast as hell, and then you get things that upgrade your attack speed so when you swing with a GreatswArd it’s like you’re swinging with a regular swArd or Katana.

I loved the game. My only two gripes is that the performance is kind of ass on the base PS4. It rarely hits 60 FPS and there a ton of instances where it’ll stutter or straight up freeze for a few seconds. Loading times in general are pretty shit too, especially when you see one between a screen transition. I mean they even have the classic loading room between areas and yet it STILL hits you with a load screen when transitioning between areas. Dafuq is the point of the load room then?

Hopefully when/if they release the 28732838723872 DLC’s they do some optimization. The only time I had it hit 60 FPS was in the Garden of Silence with not much going on. It’s the only time I felt that 60 FPS buttery smooth feel, otherwise it felt like it was eternally in the 40ish FPS range.

That sprint shard carries over in NG+ as well, which is awesome.

So i put about 6 hours in today. Game seems fun so far. Decent difficult so far, tho I am sure that will start to fall apart as I start to get my shards up and some of the better gear. The bosses have all been pretty good fun so far. I’ve liked Zangetsu and the mechanical boss of the Alchemy Lab the most so far. Music’s been great and I love the gear that appears on Miriams model, and the other little touches from SOTN like sitting in random ass chairs and shit. Its fun how the game plays to your expectations, I’ve found a lot of secrets just using my instincts and knowing the directors habits from playing his past games, especially SOTN. Its equally as fun when the game plays to those expectations and then goes even farther. I expected my fairy familiar to sit on the piano I sat at. I didnt expect her to belt out an actual song and piano number. That was cute. So far the weapons have been great. I’ve messed with most of the swords and some of the other weapons but found myself really liking my Thorn Whip. Fun weapon, finally a good whip in an rpg, and does good damage.

It’s very unfortunate that it seems the game isn’t optimized very well. I use a PS4 slim currently and the game basically never hits 60fps. Its also prone to hanging up for a full second sometimes, sound glitches, and had a menu glitch where Miriams head was just gone completely. Rebooting the game was the only way I was able to fix it. Hopefully patches are on the way with those 13 dlc packs to.

I get this glitch all the time. Since the game got patched that glitch would fuck my playthrough. When Miriam is missing her head you can bypass the glitch if return to the title screen instead of exiting the menu.

2:31 if you enter 8MEGAPOWER as your save file name you get a Power Strip with the name of that youtubechannel. They weren’t kidding when they said some youtubers would have special words.

Game Grumps and Alpha Omega Sin have there own name entries too

Beat the game yesterday at 99.40% map completion, took about 22 hours , I am going to see if I can do some more of the side quests and get that last of the map cleared. Game is outstanding except for a few times when I had no idea where to go, but just running around the castle was able to solve that. Very happy that I backed this. Eager for the DLCs to follow.

Still pretty early in the game, any suggestions on what weapon to pick first with an 8 bit coin?

That purple lightning sword is probably the best one starting off.

Also you can dismantle the first tier of bit coin weapons(get the coin back) and try them all out if you have enough alkahest. Be warned once upgraded to the second tier with 16-bit you cannot dismantle.
