BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT aka the Spiritual successor of Symphony of the Night

I’m hoping the handheld stuff is way down the line,I hate these types of games on handheld.
I wouldn’t mind if the vita or 3ds had tv adapters but I don’t invest a good amount into my entertainment system to play in a 8 inch screen.

That would have been preferable.

Playstation TV is a console Vita. No need for a TV adapter.

Except you now run the risk of people pulling out once they realize that they’re not getting any stretch goals (or that certain goals aren’t gonna be reached). At the same time, you also get a game with less features.

Yeah the stretch goals seriously should have been for more ports and characters imo, not finding ways to get more money by “reusing assests” wtf.

What the fuck are you talking about?
There are no assets to reuse.

Also 3million is rumored to be a Wii U port.

Didnt support for the Vita Tv die a stillborn death before ever really gaining any traction in the style of a sega add on?

Vita TV is pretty much an adapter that lets you play Vita games without actually having a Vita, so I wouldn’t say it’s lost any kind of support (it just didn’t sell very well IIRC). The Vita TV will essentially get “support” so long as Vita games are still being made.

A handheld port will probably depend on how graphically intensive the game is. The team has cited using Guilty Gear Xrd’s art style as inspiration, so I’m not sure if handheld ports would have the processing power if they make the game pretty. We’ll have to see I guess though.

I wonder if they will use the tools that ASW developed for UE, seeing that they are aiming for the same style.

multi-platform is one of the better options that they should pursue as everybody has differing preferences with playing games. personally, i don’t have the most time to play at home so a quick fix on a handheld will be a great perk so 3Ds or vita is always welcome.

We haven’t had an 2D Igavania game on a CONSOLE since Symphony of the Night.

Please embrace this.

Boss rush and classic mode is all the game really needs. Unless it plans to add a mode to turn the game into HoD features like cheat modes and speed run don’t add anything. I can agrue that the retro level is redundant now since we got classic mode.

There’s been plenty on console if you check the digital stores. Having a handheld version won’t take away from the console version.

too lazy to check so i gotta ask, is the retro level and classic mode the same thing?

what i took away from that is classci mode was linear level progression using the 2.5D/3D whatever in-game engine while retro level was like an 8-/16-bit graphics throwback stage. i’m puzzled O.o

There really isn’t any info on what the retro level will contain, but I’d imagine what you said there is what we’ll get.

Now that I think about it, if the Wii-u port doesn’t suffer much graphically, I might prefer it due to being able to have the castle map up on the otherwise usually useless gamepad.

In your own post no less…

You realize those assets still need to be created to give you a Richter mode right?

And then will be reused as per the quote, why is that a hard concept to grasp, yes everyone knows the game has yet to be created and here they are already talking about “re-arranging” shit like that is worth donating to when people want actual things that matter like ports. Fuck are you really this fucking dense asshole?

Y’all niggas constantly shitting on the Wii U’s ability to perform, yet it was running an enhanced version of Arkham City, Rayman Legends, and Ducktales Remastered just fine.

If that thing couldn’t run a “2.5D” Igavania(which won’t look as pretty as you mooks believe), then it truly would be a piece of shit.

Bet this game won’t even run 60FPS on the twins, lol.

You guys just begging for another Mighty No. 9 situation, aren’t you? Don’t blame me when “I told you so” happens 2 years from now after 2 additional Kickstarters and the game still isn’t done.

  • somewhat prominent Japanese dev breaks from company
  • blames company for not being able to make the games the fans want
  • promises to deliver the “your favorite game” experience without using the name of “your favorite game” because IP laws
  • hypes that shit up with a “screenshot” of “the game looks like this, we promise!”
  • has a record breaking Kickstarter in days

Sound familiar? Igarashi saw the cash Inafune got. Inafune supposedly never got to make the Mega Man game he wanted to make. Igarashi supposedly never got to make the Castlevania game he wanted to make. Birds of a feather.

Plus, there is the issue that the same people doing Mighty No. 9 are also at least partly behind Bloodstained. There are way too many similarities here and both developers nearly mirror each other. I’m going to remain skeptical and cynical until my white ass is proven wrong.

They never said the game would look like that screen shot, in fact they specifically pointed out that the concept art (not even a screen shot, concept art) was not indicative of the look of the final product in big bold letters at the bottom of said concept art.

No wonder you guys end up disappointed, you get your own expectations out of wack because you can’t read.

Inti-Creates have made a lot of games, not just M#9, they have a pretty good resume, what’s going on with M#9 really has very little to do with them.

Yeah, it ain’t Inti Creates fault that Inafune is a lying piece of shit. Those guys care about Mega Man probably more than anyone else on Earth.

Also, “concept art of a work-in-progress, final results may vary” ain’t just part of the background… That said, I’m really disappointed that M#9 doesn’t have the awesome lighting effects in that concept art.

I’m 100% certain that whatever most people are expecting Bloodstained to look like, it won’t be like that at all… Hence me scoffing at all the people claiming a portable or Wii U version would be a “downgrade”…

People understand concept art and stuff like that, concept art is used as a rough idea of what they want something to look like. We aren’t stupid. Using concept art as an idea of what something will look like to push a Kickstarter is exactly to hype it up. Concept art of something “in game” is pretty much selling the idea that the product will look like that.

Not knocking you (@crotchpuncha, not po since he ninja replied while I was replying, you asshole! ) here, but perhaps you need to read what I wrote since you called me out on not reading. I quote “screenshot” knowing it wasn’t that.

I don’t know how much work into MN9 IC is responsible for and how much Comcept is responsible for. I do know that when the topic comes up people who backed the game aren’t all that impressed with the betas they’ve played. It might not be bad, but it isn’t amazing otherwise I think we’d all be hearing about it. I’ve read a number of things, such as how the game looks and plays, that aren’t impressive about the game.

Regardless, you can’t ignore the parallels between these two projects and based on Iga’s track record, I can’t exactly get excited for it. For how formulaic Iga is, look how the main character looks. Basically it’s a copy of Shanoa. Same color theme, blue and white clothes and black straight hair. Female, too. He’s already proving that he’s still fresh out of ideas and he’s only at the concept art stage.
