Better than the genesis copy of Xmen where on the last level you are supposed to press reset on your console to continue the game.
Out bothers me when itâs vital to the games completion, but if itâs for some bonus extra stuff then i think itâs pretty cool.
Fuck yeah, I just beat bloodborne. True Ending. 3 tries on the last two bosses each. Beat it with a visceral attack too. Havenât spent over 50 hours on a game since 2011.
New patch is out. http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/05/25/bloodbornes-patch-1-04-full-patch-notes-now-available/
Chalice Dungeon loot now includes bloodstones, which is much needed.
EDIT: Has anyone ever tried out beasthood? I didnât bother because it seemed like itâs not easy to do.
EDIT 2: Oh nice, you can buy blood chunks from insight messengers now.
Beasthood is great if youâre good at not getting hit. As the meter fills up it boosts your ATK, but your DEF also drops as the bar fills so youâre going to take a ton more damage if you get hit. I tend to think of it as the new Red Tearstone Ring honestly.
Iâve messed around with it some, but Iâm not confident enough with a number of bosses and harder enemies to feel like I could pull it off without getting fuckin pwned.
Long post about the weapons cause I love this game:
I love beasthood, I didnât know it lowers your def though. Itâs great because it rewards aggressive play.
I started a new file (still addicted to this game) instead of new game plus. Decided to pick the strength class and pair it with the hunter axe.
One mistake I did in my first playthrough was level up strength and skill equally. I think I should have just gone skill but I didnât know how those attributes worked and I needed to get the requirements to use the kirkhill and then the ludwig blade.
This time, I went straight to cleric beast and beat him my first try even though it was still challenging . I used a few molotovs and hit him with one or two viscerals. The best part was I barely got hit unlike my first play through using the cane. I was able to read his patterns easily and capitalize with the Axeâs range R2 attacks.
The Cleaver is definitely the best starting weapon especially for new players to the game IMO, followed by the axe, and then the cane.
I struggled early on with the game because it was my first souls game, and the damage output of the cane didnât help., I selected used the cane because I thought cane = pimp, especially with the whole outfit and style of Bloodborne. I was never really a big fan of medieval stuff which explains why I didnât choose the hunter axe. Was never really a fan of shield/sword combo from demon souls and dark souls.
The fact that it transformed into a whip was a bonus. I had no idea all the weapons were capable of transforming when I first started the game.
There was something extremely satisfying about using the whip though. I was a big castlevania fan and I feel like this is what 3D castlevania should have been.
The thing was I only used the whip for the first quarter of the game in Yharnam and then the last quarter of the game. The Saw Spear and Ludwig Blade were my weapons of choice that I planned to take all the way. I could spam the saw spearâs R1 attack against quicker enemies. I would use the Holy Blade to cause blunt and stun the bigger enemies once I reached the Cathedral Ward and onwardâŚand use it to defeat the bosses. My bases were coveredâŚ
After I beat ROM the spider when the nightmare is revealed, I started seeing how the cane would benefit me again in the Chapel area.
I felt an attachment to cane/whip since it was my selected weapon of choice at the beginning of the game. Once I got the Blood Rock, I made the cane/whip into a + 10 whereas my saw spear was at +6.
I used the whip exclusively in itâs transformed state to beat the last three bosses (merco wet nurse, gherman, and the moon presence). The ludwig blade was just damn slow for me and I wanted to be fast to fight the last three bosses. The whip has great sound effects when it hits plus it looks cool adding fire/bolt to it.
Since Iâm more of a reactionary spacing type player (like in street fighter), I liked fighting against aggressive bosses like Gherman and Moon Presence. With the whip, I could play the spacing game, stay far away and swing and it will hit even though it looks like youâre too far away. Even if I whiff with the whip, the recovery time of the whip is not too bad so I could just backdash away.
I just wanna gauge how far I am into this game. I just beat rom and the one reborn. I got to the second lamp on nightmare whatever where i got my fucking shit pushed in. I ran allllll the way from one side of the mountain to the other and was confronted by basically another boss fight which looked like a gigantic fucking spider lol. How much of the game is left? I think I got there from the 2nd floor of the Cathedral Ward. Iâve been pretty much blind up until this point. Its crazy I didnt know there were certain builds and what not. My characters probably leveled like a fucking retard but I love the game so far.
Your like 95% of the way through the required sections of the game.
Noooooo
I liked the game when it was like:

But then it became:

I donât think Iâll finish the game.
Your loss.
The thing is, it was always like the second image, you just didnât know it yet. Thatâs prime Lovecraft storytelling for you. Iâll admit that there arenât many hints early on as to what is going on, but they definitely place the setting that things are not all that they appear to be and thereâs definitely more that you are not let in on even when youâre fighting beasts. How soon you realize it depends on how fast you build insight and keep it really.
I remember crotch talking about how he suddenly took interest in Lovecraftâs work after playing BB.
Kinda the same thing with me , and i never really care for reading books and shiz.
The fact that i took my time to google the name and some of his works just shows how absolutely awesome BB is , i guess.
edit : Tekno NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Upgraded the Reiterpallasch with my third rock, and Iâm actually loving how it and the Trick Cane complement each other.
Theyâre so visually similar pre-transformation, I figure it could be possible to confuse opponents by switching between the Reiter and Cane. Slash or stab? Whip or shot transformation attack? I found myself actually hitting players with the slow-ass whip transformation attack.
Even if people arenât confused, the Reiter is still a great complement for the Cane moveset. Got yer long slashes, got yer wide whip dash-strikes, got yer charged stabs, got yer quick stabs, got yer quick shorter-range slashes. And also a pretty darned good shot.
If I actually get active in PVP at my near-140 blood level, I may be sticking with this combo.
Also discovered that Insight caps out at 99.
I discovered this by using like 32 regular skulls while at 97 insight.
Ohhhh well, it just amounts to one blood chunk.
Iâd be genuinely interested to hear what people coming to Lovecraft from Bloodborne think. Iâm a big fan, but Iâve always had a suspicion that Lovecraft is a bit like On the Road - you have to read it before youâre eighteenâŚ
Going Quality (levelling both STR & DEX - itâs a reference to an upgrade path in Demonâs Souls) isnât necessarily a mistake, as long as youâre using the right weapon for it. Ludwigâs can do ridiculous damage with a quality build.
I couldnât get to grips with the Cleaver at all. Great damage (my second character used it all through NG), but I never got used to how poor itâs range is (and how easy it is to hit enemies out of range). Felt like a weapon that was nearly amazing.
I keep seeing people referring to the âpimp caneâ. I donât get it. Youâve got a game with a pseudo-Victorian feel, taking liberally from Gothic architecture, and everyone is wandering round in Georgian clothing with muskets. Why would cane not equal âgentlemanâ? Thatâs certainly why I picked it!
Must be an American thing?

So I had to save the video clip of me beating Ebrietas after losing to her about 20 times for multiple days. You can watch my scrubby play here. You can see my frustration building up as I lose to her multiple times.

The 9 minute mark is where I stop to post my rant on SRK, and the final run starts at about 11 minutes where I switch tactics and fuck her up pretty bad but almost lost.
I just got the platinum trophy for this game <3 and i have just one thing to say⌠fuck the defiled chalice dungeon
