Ah you hadn’t found the Messengers Gift? It’s a good fun little item.
Can you tell if it works the same way as Chameleon does? (transforming back to normal as soon as you attack , etc)
Messenger’s Gift really needs the right placement to work… Much like Chameleon, I guess. I’ve yet to be fooled by one.
oh shit !!! =D
i have a couple of ideas for where to use it…
1 is the tower you “drop down” on in cainhurst , just before you get to logarius. that’s just evil !
2 is the elevator that goes down to ebrietas (though you kinda have to get lucky with your timing and have the host be far away for u not to get noticed)
i’m just gonna have to come up with ideas for how to use it , i guess…
i’ll be happy if i can pull of anything like this again :
Came back from a short vacation and decided I’m going to beat bloodborne before the end of this holiday weekend. Currently level 96, I went to cainhurst castle and went through it fairly easily. Took three tries to kill Martyr Logarius.
Was feeling pretty good and decided to come back to Ebrietas. First thing is sneak attack charged R2 with Ludwig Blade, then I switch over to my threaded cane +9… The bitch took me out another five times and now I’m down to 11 blood vials and gotta start farming again.
Fuck…time to move on.
Realized earlier tonight that the final chalice dungeon requires a guide-dang-it item that is towards the end of the regular game. You get it by:
Spoiler
Descending into the depths of the Mensis nightmare and killing the giant Frenzy eye-brain, after you’ve sent it tumbling down with the lever you get to past the three Winter Lanterns.
And of course, I was at the very beginning of the NG+2 cycle.
So, I basically did an impromptu high-level speedrun. The game really isn’t long if you ignore all the optional stuff. Still took me a couple of hours to get there, mainly because 1) I forgot the timings on the Amelia fight (and god damn she heals fast compared to my damage in NG++), 2) I realized that I’d been wanting to fight Eileen and Alfred too, and 3) goddamned Micolash managing to fire off his bullshit one-hit-kill spell once EVERY time I fought him.
It was actually kinda fun. Haven’t done this in a Souls game before. Well, it was fun until Micolash, who’s only fun the first time you beat him. After that he’s one of the most annoying fights in the whole series.
Now the two most challenging non-random chalices await. Buuut I think I’ll take a little break before I dive into them. I was only having fairly thinly spread out bursts of fun while doing the previous couple of chalices, inbetween long stretches of “sigh, another one of those rooms” and “oh joy, another gaggle of rats to take out the same way I did every other damn time.”
The bursts of fun are worth it, but, it is still a grind of the kind I never really thought I’d encounter in a Souls game, outside of getting certain armor sets I never bothered with anyway (looking at you, Loyce souls).
Did you happen to do the “Make Contact” gesture to the Mensis Brain for something like 30 seconds to a minute? It will give you a Caryll Rune if you do. It’s not a super important one, especially at the point in the game you’re in but it’s nice to collect everything.
What.
That sounds like a bullshit schoolyard story, but it’s on the wikis. Goddammit, From!
Enh, I don’t care. It’d just be for the trophies, since at this point I’m already overleveled for the PVP hotspot. My not-minmaxed character is at 140 right now. Not leveling any further.
Yeah I hate dumb shit like that.
Well, it’s a good-natured hate here in this case. The Souls games have always been full of stuff like this It’s not a necessary item by any means… And come to think of it, there’s no actual trophy for getting all the runes either, so it’s COMPLETELY optional.
I figured out to do it on my first run through - and after ten or so seconds, thought “Bugger! I was sure that was going to work!” and walked away…
@T20thoughts Chalice Dungeon-wise, if you’ve killed Yharnam you’ve already finished the most challenging dungeon (the Defiled Chalice one). The ‘last’ two are a real step down in difficulty compared to that.
daily bloodborne update: farmed and leveled up another level and went through nightmare of mensis and two three tries to beat the boss. Went back to Erietbas, got her down to 1/3 life twice. Kicked my ass another 5 times. Fucking Bitch.
Oh fuck two minutes after I posted this rant, I just destroyed her using only six blood vials in less than 3 minutes!
Yeah man having any sense of atmosphere or subtle shout outs to the game’s lore is dumb as fuck. Stupid FromSoft giving us Easter eggs and shit, what the hell has gotten into them.
Yea I actually really like that kind of stuff. I absolutely love that two whole location in Dark Souls 1 are hidden behind two hidden walls. Like you find the first one are like “Dope a secret!” only for there to be a secret in the secret room that is WAAAAY bigger then the secret you just felt smart for finding lol.
See, that’s the bullshit schoolyard part of it. I get that making a gesture at it would make sense - I might have thought to do it too if I hadn’t been caught up in speedrunning my way to the item I get by killing it. It’s that you have to let the gesture run for like half a minute to a minute. That’s just… DAMMIT FROM!
Defiled is actually the next one on my list. Kinda looking forward to it, even though I’m taking a break before doing that, as I feel chaliced out.
I do know that I have absolutely no desire to do any more Root chalices. And Lower Loran can stay unexplored for all I care.
FromSoft paying homage to Castlevania II with that stupid tornado.
Shit is ass. Whenever i come across shit like that on my own my reaction is pretty much “ok, don’t know how I was supposed to figure that out but ok”
Walk to the left three steps, leave your console on for 5hrs 55secs, pour water on your console, press start. Congrats you unlocked some cool thing. Fuck off.
