Bloodborne thread

on revengeance difficulty he is :0

besides i’m not talking of difficulty alone.
attacks/moves/music/dialouge/stages/transformations/intensity/etc.

everything that makes a boss memorable.

so I am not sure how to go about killing those big ass ogre things. I can get them down to certain health then I just get rushed down. This game makes me not want to play, but play at the same time, its weird.

Also when will I start actually leveling up? is there something that I have to do first, or is there something I do in the Hunters dream.

Parries work best against the orges. Use your gun when they are going to attack and you’ll stun them long enough to land a visceral attack. You won’t level up until you find the first boss.

That’s what this series does to people. It’s cause that shit is fair, and people know it, even if they don’t admit it lol

So what stats should work on building for a Skill based build? Currently have majority of my stats on Skill (say 70-80%) with only a few on health and endurance.

If you know how, you’ll only have to deal with one before reaching the first boss.

In the fountain area, where there’s one of them banging on the door, you can break some boxes that lead to a shortcut that goes both back to the lantern and the first boss.

[details=Spoiler]
Don’t go down the fountain, instead, go straight look to the left of the door that you can knock on. Break the boxes there and drop down. Kill the dogs and go straight (not right). Go left, under the bridge (don’t go down the stairs as they’re 2 ogres there), then unlock the door to the house. Inside, going up leads to the top of the bridge, right before the boss, but there’s an ogre and some crows guarding it. Going straight (on the first floor) however instead leads you to some stairs and to the locked gate by the lantern, except you can now unlock it from this side.

Basically, just work your way to this shortcut, unlock the gate, then head towards the boss. Once you get past the ogre and crows, head to the boss, get killed and head back to the Hunter’s Dream where you can now level up.[/details]

VIT and END are the most important stats in the game, far more than your attack stats. Your weapons gain the biggest damage boosts simply from upgrading. The amount that your stats help them is only significant after upgrading them a lot and putting a pretty large amount of points into it’s related stat. For probably most of the game I’d say spend time getting VIT between 30-40 and END to between 20-30, depending on preference. After that and once you have a favorite weapon, THEN pump attack stats. If you have already don that, then just VIT and END. Then if you care about guns or magic or whatever, just upgrade Bloodtinge or Arcane next if you want to take it that far.

I found the shortcut. I basically just started running around killing randoms and avoiding the ogres. Found the boss. Got my ass beat. Gonna level up a bit before I come after the first boss. I also got handled by those wolves as well. molotovs come in super handy.

Ha to stop while I was ahead tonight.

I’m like level 17-20

How the heck do I get past the locked gates in the Cathedral Ward to get to Vicar Amelia?

The first gate?

Spoiler

The messengers will sell you a item that costs 10000 blood echoes. This will open that gate for you

No disrespect Hawk, but that didn’t really help me much.

Found the Witch of Hemwick boss on total accident last night lmao. Killed her my first try because my damage output is insane and destroy her health in like one combo. She tries summoning those shadow beast and they got bodied with the quickness. Started equiping runes finally and have a damage reduction rune buff that makes me tanky as fuck game just got much easier.

Found the snake area you guys were talking about earlier and I gotta tell you…THIS AINT SHIT! Everything dies on 2 or 3 hits even the big snake guys that shoot poison. I did get knocked down into some pit with 2 big ones by a sneak attack because I wasn’t paying attention but other than that? Easy area imo.

I just bodied the Shadow triplets boss on first try at the end of Snake way as well. Rifle Spear and Skill build is too good lol, especially now that I’m getting better gems. Charged R2 bodies everything in snake way free even the bosses at the end. I guess Cainwurst castle is next for me?

The chalice bosses are 20x harder than the bosses I’m facing in main game. Funny how I fought and beat that first way earlier that I should have.

Triple golem boss at the end of first chalice shits on those garbage ass shadow mages. Them fools had slow ass Tekken fireballs! You ain’t gonna hit me with that shit!

There’s not much else to say, honestly…

Spoiler

Go for the boss’ sides while avoiding the spiders. The spiders are easy to kill if you hit them anywhere but their head, but they’re not worth killing. They constantly respawn, so do your best to ignore them. Employ hit and run tactics, DO NOT get greedy, and choose your openings wisely. Fail to do any of these and you’ll die to either the spiders divebombing you or Rom’s AoE explosion. Patience is key.

Spoiler

Is there a special strategy to avoid the arcane stuff it shoots out in phase 2? It hits from far and close. So annoying.

Uhhhhhhhhhb what?

I just got my shit rocked by this brain sucking thing. Uses frenzy spells to freeze you then sticks this big semen looking thing into your head and sucks everything out.

SO GROSS!

WHY do I only die to the most fucked up gross shit? Just once I wouldn’t mind being stabbing or something.

@echelonNYK you have to dodge them by rolling away , it’s pretty easy once you’ve done it a couple of times. besides i don’t think he shoots those whenever you are close , so the only things you really should watch out for is his AOE attack along with the minions trying to divebomb you.

also protip [details=Spoiler] get some bolt papers and go HAM [/details]

Don’t worry… You’ll die that way, too.

Any of you guys messing around with chalices? I got my first one recently and picked up two more. Am I to understand that root chalices are the ones that have randomly generated dungeons, and not the other types?

Also, I found an uncanny saw cleaver during my exploration. Didn’t notice a difference between it and the hunter’s cleaver.

The Uncanny and Lost versions of weapons just have different Blood Gem slots. That’s it.

Yeah me and ExposedD have been exploring them quite a bit. And yes you’re correct, so all the non-root chalices are pre-made and the same for everyone.
