Aw man, you had me going for a second. That’s just the Beast Roar item, which is absolutely badass btw, but yeah it’s an unlimited use item that consumes bullets on use. This basically DOES have magic, they’re just items and consume ammo instead now
Just got to Old Yharnam, attempted fighting the guy shooting at me and got fucking decimated. Currently in the area with all the wolves on the streets below, without telling me exactly where, is there a lantern coming up or do I have miles of hell yet before the next?
Man I see what some of the critism about lack of lamps are. I was k8cking ass for so long and fought my way past those monsters while minigun guy was being a bitch. No lamp.
Killed the hunter who was a prick then fought through another giant ass sea of dark areas filled with the same kind of enemies for what like a straight hour to conserve health vials. No checkpoint lamp.
Then after all that there’s an even DARKER area filled with fucking werewolves hidden in tight spaces trying to sneak attack you through fucking walls! No biggie I trust nothing and see it coming and barely ever get hit. Kill all the wolves with like no damage taken then on the exit from this dark town there MORE fucking enemies trying to attack you. And oh yeah they have poison lol, don’t get hit by any of it through and run through the even them. STILL NO FUCKING LAMP!
Whatever, I’m feeling myself got like 15k souls or blood whatevers. Saw this big church like building surrounded by fire and I’m like “that a boss battle isnt it? Nah that’d be dumb as hell right after all that” NOPE BOSS BATTLE! Bullshit, whatever I’m the fucking best! Counter city baby! BUT NOPE the game FREEZES for a sec and I’m stuck in place too long and the boss kills me in combo even with all my health upgrades. Worst part 8s I almost had him killed
So now I have to fight through all that shit all over again for like 30 mins to a hour at least just to reach the damn boss! That bad design I’m sorry. I can deal with game difficulty but this shit is so tedious. I hate whiners about games being to hard but the people saying shit checkpoints spacing have legit as fuck complaints to me.
You know you can just run past all of the wolfmen and hop on the ladder to get Djura(mini-gun guy). It’s not even far. Like, it’s less than a minute of running at most. I just did it to get that Stake-Driver.
The other boss, the Bloodstarved beast, can also be ran to in under a minute if you find the shortcut.
This game doesn’t need a lot of lamps, the shortcuts are ridiculous, you just have to find them.
It’s a pilebunker(basically a piston with a spike on one end) with it’s spike end sharpened and flatten like a blade. Instead of transforming the stake-piston shortens as it locks itself in, and when you do a heavy attack it shoots out violently doing a ton of damage in a very short range. Light and heavy attacks in unlocked mode are pretty standard blade swipes, light attacks in locked mode are series of right jabs that stun lock(most enemies).
It uses your bullets too, so I guess you can have a non-gun in your off hand without worrying about not being able to stun enemies.
It has a good charge attack that makes you run forward a bit, and obviously good poking attacks.
I hear the actual bullet damage is negligible unless you build for projectile damage. That said that how it is for most of the actual bullet shoots guns in the game.
Besides that you get a few items IRC that you can buy like flammable oil bombs and such.
You can actually do what I did and get the Rifle-Spear from a hidden path that’s about halfway between the lantern and the mini-gun boss. In the room are a ton of wolfmen(that you can just dodge and run past), the Rifle-Spear, and the Charred Hunter’s set, as seen in my picture a few posts above.
When I do co-op I often get awful players to help me. I feel the counterhit health mechanic is a contributing factor to why people are sucking in combat right now. I’ve seen too many times how my partner will endlessly attack an enemy to regain health when at times it would be smarter to pop blood. When you fighting a boss and drop to half health take a step back and heal. I have dudes trying to be a hero to get health back.
Why not put the consumables on square instead of going into your inventory to throw them? It seems that everyone is killing the Cleric with molotovs, I found it easier to parry him with the pistol. If you get the timing right he collapses in front of you and then you just stab him in the face a few times.
