Bloodborne thread

@Gasaraki: You said it “might” be worth it, and I was just breaking down why you were right. Actually, you said you were going to try it out, and I decided to share my discoveries.

I’m new to skill weapons, I’ve only ever played around with the strength ones, which more or less seem to get bonuses to all attacks from skill and strength. At least the ones I used were that way. I did notice that ARK doesn’t seem to affect all attacks, I guess I should have specified I was only talking about Str/Skl and not BT/ARK

About the Chikage argument though, do you really only want BT OR SKL? Won’t you get the most out of your trick weapon if you can switch between both modes? I’m genuinely curious.

The lore of this game is pretty vague but I feel like I have a decent grasp of what’s going on. Except I don’t know what Micolash’s deal is and I don’t get who the Queen of Yharnam is exactly.

Is Bloodborne: Complete Edition getting a disc release over here? Looks like it already came out in the EU.

Complete Edition is on PSN, but it’d actually be cheaper for me to get the vanilla disc+download the DLC. I wouldn’t mind have the complete edition in disc form though…

Doesn’t look like we are getting the complete edition physical release sadly. Very lame.

Second boss of DLC

[details=Spoiler]Made it to The Living Failures. They don’t actually seem too terribly hard. They of course remind me of the 4 Kings the way they just keep spawning in over and over. I died to the Meteor spell, but only because I decided to press the advantage of them all just standing there praising the stars and got hit by the splash damage on one of the meteors which opened me up to the next one and then dead. But still not terribly tough it seems. I couldn’t find the old hunters summon for the fight how which disappointed me some, but I probably wont even need it.

Well, chikage is one of the few weapons whose trick mode has almost exactly the same moveset. In fact I would even say it’s slightly better in blood mode. The only reason I use normal mode is for the unique L1->R1/R2 transition attacks and to turn off the life drain. It’s also worth noting that it has better scaling in BT than SKL in the first place.

Most people recommend 25/50 SKL/BT because you still get decent returns in normal mode and because of the nature off the weapon, you’ll still be using it, and the visceral damage boost. However if you’re a 50 skl build there’s almost no point to raising BT because you need major stat investment for blood mode to actually do more damage. Those are points you could be using on VIT, END, or if you have a weapon that scales with both STR and SKL, dump it in those.

Doesn’t mean you can’t, it’s just not very efficient. If you want BT, it’s best to just take it all the way to 50, and if you want other stats it’s more efficient to only take it to 25 because all BT weapons only ever deal BT or normal damage, never both

If BT weapons only do BT damage then you might as well just keep the bare minimum in Str/Skl to wield it, and pump those unused points into Vit/End

25/50 isn’t bad, but sorta unnecessary with the right gems. However, it also depends how often you plan on using the non-trick mode.

Sounds like the general rule of stat scaling is that a weapon can scale with strength and skill (if available), but arc only affect certain attacks, and attacks that go up with blood tinge aren’t affected by other stats. Makes sense.

Depends on the wep for arc.

Tontirus and Logarius wheel in trick mode have a shit ton of Arcane Damage scaling.

You can go pure Arcane with both and do absurd damage. Going 25str/50arc is great too if you plan on using non-trick modes a lot. With gems both become insanely high damaging weapons.

Chikage has B/S scaling for Skill/BT, respectively. Bloodletter has A/S scaling for Strength/BT, respectively. There really isn’t a reason NOT to max BT if you plan on maiming either of those weapons. Their damage output is very high with 50 BT, although I don’t know what Bloodletter’s moveset is like.

General rule of thumb for a build is that you get 50 of the stat your main weapon scales best with. There are exceptions of course since a weapon like Ludwig’s Holy Blade scales evenly with both Strength and Skill.

First boss was ai’ight until he said,

“Power of Friendship, Bankai”

Wow, really? I didn’t realize those weapons worked like that. So that’s what full arcane people use in the vanilla version of the game. That’s going to be my next character for sure!

Gems are one part of the game I haven’t explored very far. The chalice dungeons ramp up in difficulty so slowly… But I really need gems on my main. Can’t get much stronker without them.

I don’t have much use for BT, but I do want to try Bloodletter out. I mean, it just LOOKS cool!

So far my main has been the pimp cane, but for my second, I will definitely use Zabimaru. I mean, the freaking comp killed whilst halfway up the ladder.

…What?

May his soul rest in peace, Umbasa.

Yeah I’m not sure what he means either lol

Yo Gasa, I’m loggin in in a few minutes here. You down for some co-op? I’m the second DLC boss.

@crotchpuncha

Yeah, let me know when you’re on

Yeah i probably fucked my build, think I got all 23’s in str/skl/arc. Wanna go full arcane with that Ludwig but I read its a bitch finding the right gems to make it work. Got the fire gem but it makes it so weak. Been farming gems from the dlc since they tend to be stronger but god damn do the enemies give you the shittiest echo amount compared to their difficulty. I remember thinking I was gonna farm them for exp and then went to the forest and realized I was fucking myself.

But yeah I chalk that up to bring another dick developer move lol.

If you can enter Forbidden Woods, you’re not underleveled at all.

Pretty sure he’s talking about Ludwig. I actually think the second phase is easier than the first. Seems to be the general consensus.

Gonna spoiler tag this since angelpalm hasn’t beaten the game yet, although I dunno if he gives a shit about the game’s lore haha.

[details=Spoiler]In short, Micolash headed the school of Mensis that broke off from Byrgenwerth or the Healing Church (forget which) to do their own research to make contact with a Great One. At some point the whole school was wiped out and killed, and it’s assumed their conciousnesses ascended into the Nightmare of Mensis. Every nightmare has a host and the creator of the nightmare. In Mensis’s case, Micolash is the human host, with Mergo (the crying baby protected by Mergo’s Wet Nurse) being the assumed creator of the nightmare.

My knowledge on the Queen of Yharnam isn’t that great because I don’t remember much about the Pthumerians and their background. Essentially, she is the queen of the Pthumerians, the ancient race of people that live in the tombs beneath Yharnam and Byrgenwerth. They worshiped the Great Ones, and Queen Yharnam was eventually impregnated by one. It’s assumed she gave birth to Mergo, which is why you see her in the Red Moon cutscene with Mergo crying, and again in the Nightmare of Mensis. You can see blood coming from her womb, implying some sort of forced birth or maybe even a miscarriage. Obviously, the city of Yharnam is named after her.[/details]

Bruh fucking yeti just glitched a bolder at me lol. On the first run I had killed the first two yetis and was avoiding a rock from the one across the chasm, but I guess I went from behind cover too soon cause a piece of the shattered boulder still instantly killed me. Then I went back for my echoes and after killing the first yeti I was careful with the second one because I wanted to avoid the 3rd yetis rock.

I spring from behind cover after the far yetis boulder has disappeared only for the individual that I am attacking to glitch out and shoot a super fast boulder from his fucking forehead lol… Fuck this game.
