Bloodborne thread

Ended up beating the boss right after posting that. He only killed me 2-3 times but those battles were annoying as hell. Staying close to I’m seems to make him less aggressive.

Everything done except I need my Yharnam Stone. Fucking Amygdala.

Stand near her tail. This causes her to jump. DO NOT MOVE. She will not hit you with her jump and it gives you enough time to hit her with your hardest hitting attack right in the head. Will take some practice but this start is practically fool proof. Just don’t be close to a wall or she might squish you.

Servers back up! \o/

Ok, something I’ve been wondering for a long time now but didn’t ask: where are the bloodstains coming from in Hunter’s Dream?

EDIT: Yo, this 9GB update is for the DLC issue stated above?

Once you get to the end, if you pick the option to refuse, you get a boss fight. If you die, or use Bold Hunter’s Mark to leave, you can actually summon people for help in there. Some people PvP in there.

…However most of it is from people using Chikage or Logarius’ Wheel which have HP draining buffs/attacks, or people that put HP draining Blood Gems on their weapon and are too impatient to even read the effects of those Blood Gems.

…Or they know about the effects, but they AFK for chores/emergencies. But yea, pretty much what you said.

Im playing now, lookin to to take down the first boss of the dlc, if anyone would like to join me hit me uo. ill be on till 11am.

Eh, On until 11 AM? It was 11 AM when you posted in my time zone. I’m on my lunch break right now, but if you’re going to be on much later (5+ hours) I might be able to join you.

I still say we should have a group password so that SRK people can hook up with each other. After you get the SRK person you’re waiting for, you can always remove the password if you want to get another random.

I dont mean to beat a dead horse but I played MGSV completely blind lol. I knew not to even click NEAR the topic lol.

And then I went on to almost spoil it for myself for flipping too far ahead in the collection strategy guide ugh

Don’t wanna go too off topic but I stayed away from the MGSV thread because I knew people on SRK are too stupid and inconsiderate to use spoiler tags, but somehow it’d be my fault for people being stupid and inconsiderate. EleNiggle

Urge… to comment… on use of spoilers… Resisted!

Beat the DLC a few days ago, pretty sure I got 95% of everything. You never get everything in a souls game unless you use the wiki. Anyway, I’d like to comment on the Milkweed wink and Beast *wink wink"…

Spoiler

Not going to lie, My brother and I needed to work together to get to the end of the milkweed quest line. I liked the quest line. It was dark, but it was also a bit humorous. I suppose that’s fitting to the theme of a nightmare though huh?

I was a little disappointed with the reward: The Kos weapon’s true form. While I think it’s cool that a full arcane build is now viable, it’s just not a weapon for me. Maybe if I fully upgrade the parasite I’ll like it more, but it looks like more of a PvP weapon judging by the videos I’ve found online. I’m not saying it doesn’t have PvE uses, but it’s not the best option for my Str/Arc build. If you do chose to use the “tentacle whips”, you’re going to need some decent arcane scaling runes, since it’s the only trick weapon that does pure arcane damage. This is good though, because those rune should also increase the damage of your spells. As I said earlier, this would be great for a primary Arc build. Didn’t like the body morph either I would have been a bit more impressed if the milkweed rune incorporated your characters face into it. Maybe the reason why I’m so disappointed is because I was hoping for the final boss’s weapon instead of more tentacle shenanigans.

The beast rune on the other hand…

I always liked the claw weapons to build up my beast hood, but the new move set makes the weapons great on their own too! Now you have some V. attack setups and a longer combo with a wider arc. The rune doesn’t make the claws stronger per say, but they make them more versatile. The claws are also much better at stagger locking enemies, even bosses. The DLC armor that fortifies beast hood also does wonders if you plan on using claws as a primary weapon. They really make you feel like a beast ready to pounce on it’s prey. The only downside is that if you aren’t aggressive you’ll never achieve max damage. I guess this weapon needed some drawbacks so that it doesn’t overshadow the other DLC weapons. The body morph is cool, but I’m kind of bummed that, like the milkweed rune, just replaces your head and doesn’t try to incorporate your character’s face into it at all.

Also, I liked most of the bosses. the areas were pretty cool too.

I decided to start a NG+ and its amazing how quickly this game goes when you know exactly what to do and you have a powerful character. Pretty fun.

What level do you need bloodtinge on to get any real use out of Chikage and Evelyn? I’m only on like level 13 or 14 but it takes like 200k souls for me to level up so I don’t see that getting to 50…

Evelyn only out-damages the regular pistol per bullet at 30 BT, but at 50 is greatly out does it. Repeating pistol still can do more damage, but still uses 2 bullets per shot and will still do less damage per bullet, so Evelyn is still overall the best option, but Repeating can be worth carrying if you just want a huge damage shot. Chikage’s modes either ONLY scale with Skill or ONLY with BT, not ever both at the same time, so If you want to go BT, I’d suggest 25/50 SKL/BT. If you already have higher SKL then it’s a bit of a waste because those points won’t be doing anything while you’re in blood mode, aside from upping your visceral damage at least I guess. I’m actually going to try out 15/70 using Chikage, Bowblade, Evelyn, and Piercing Rifle and see how that feels.

The soft cap for all 4 damage related stats is 25, “hard” cap at 50 and really hard cap at 75. You get much smaller bonuses after 50, but with S scaling it MIGHT still be worth it? Not sure but I’m going to try it out.

I should note, those caps are way less stringent for hunter tools, so if you go pure arcane build, like 75 to 99, you actually keep getting good damage increases all the way up to the end for basically every spell. A Call Beyond is really freaking powerful at 70 ARC lol

No need! You’ve got someone with 50 STR right here with the BEST strength scaling weapon in the game! (I think?) And let me put it to you this way… the weapon also scales (poorly) with skill, and I’ve been putting points onto skill because it yields a bigger damage boost than increasing my strength. Sure, my SKL isn’t even 25 yet, but that’s how the cookie crumbles. Maybe on NG+6 or some crazy number, you might get better results putting echos into your main stats, but the real answer is going to be different for every weapon. If you have 50 Str or skill, and your weapon only scales with one of those stats, it would be a waste to try and bring up the other stat.

Ahhh, didn’t know that! a pure Arc build sounds interesting enough to try now. I love how the DLC made so many new builds viable now. There’s actually a reason for strength characters to have decent blood tinge.

My total amount of time played since I got the game in… August I think:

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CVQRl73VEAANvB-.jpg:large

237 hours, 23 minutes, 22 seconds. LOL. I put some more hours in after the screenshot too.

I’m just saying it MIGHT still be worth it to go beyond 50 for S scaling weapons. As far as I know there are no S scaling strength weapons, but there are multiple S weapons of other types that don’t have any S scaling in STR at all. For example, Chikage has S/S in SKL/BT, but unlike say Ludwig’s, it doesn’t look at both stats to calculate damage. Normal mode only looks at SKL and blood mode only looks at BT. So if I wanted to do a pure BT or pure SKL build with that weapon, there’s no point in putting points in both to a certain point because it only helps damage in one mode.

Even with Blade of Mercy and Burial Blade, AFAIK(I could be mistaken), the Arcane damage only activates on attacks that have the brighter attack trails and “SHING!” sound. So being a pure SKL build with the S scaling in SKL BoM is POSSIBLY still worth it to just raise SKL up to 75 or something because half of it’s attacks don’t even use the Arcane damage stuff.

Logarius’ Wheel and Whirligig Saw have S rank strength scaling. Blade of Mercy and Burial Blade have mixed physical damage and arcane damage, which is why you cannot buff them with paper and Empty Phantasm Shell. Either way, the bonus arcane damage from both of those weapons is so minute that it’s not worth leveling anything outside of Skill to buff their damage.

dear lord, the stupidity in this post…

This is made by FROM SOFTWARE. The makers of DEMON’S SOULS and DARK SOULS.

This game plays similar to the souls series since that was what they were going for. It also plays better than all 3 souls games since this has an improved gameplay.

And no, this doesn’t look like a previous gen game. Yes, our character models aren’t that great but that’s the only thing wrong with the graphics. Play the game and see how wrong you are. The art direction is phenomenal.

And no. Dark souls looks nowhere near as good as this game.
