They donāt? Hard to say, considering many other heroes are straight up better than Bastion. Committing a support (or two, if youāre considering Mercy and Reinhardt helping Bastion) is, like I said earlier, somewhat of a risky strat because you are committing heavily to making Bastion good. Support (90% of the time would be Mercy, as Lucio and Zen have better things to do) would ideally be helping the whole team too.
Plays of the game do vary though. During closed beta, Blizzard retuned the POTG algorithm to not just factor in kills and damage done during X time window. Iād say a majority of POTGs are multi-kills, usually through ults (usually unimpressive), but itās much more varied now that sharpshooting, shut down plays (like shutting down an ult mid cast or during one), and saves like Mercy ult or Zen ult. Donāt think the system needs to be changed too much more.
Tends to happen more in lower level play. Lots of āQ of the gameā plays. Used to be way worse when Junkrat Riptire had 150 HP instead of 100.
This thread is great, by the way. I love Mei salt threads.
This explains so much. I was thinking every Hanzo just were gods of shooting since with a slow travel arrow they were hitting shit abnormally well. The arrow has a hitbox the size of a truck.
On the topic of Bastion, heās never been a problem for me as D.Va. If heās just sitting somewhere, you flank and then destroy him from behind. If heās got a team, well, youāll need your team too, but basically you just boost straight into them with Defense Matrix up and focus fire him down. If heās got a Reinhardt blocking and turns to attack me then my teammates will kill him or Bastion because Bastion HAS to fire focus his fire on me OR return to recon mode to survive. Super works sometimes.
Reaper does the same thing but canāt boost through, he just has to flank, but thatās what heās built for
Widowmaker and Hanzo are obvious, you just snipe him from long range. If theirās a Reinhardt, then yeah, you need your team or if you have Super as Hanzo, try to flank and use that.
Thereās plenty of 1v1 counters, and if the problem is a team set up around him, then your problem is whether or not your team is acting together, NOT bastion himself. In a team vs team situation you have answers to Bastion turtling no matter what setup they have.
Even if you canāt directly coordinate with voice, you just have to look at when your team is attacking, and pick those moments to attack from a different direction. But yeah youāll need a character that has the ability to get to those positions.
He doesnāt need a nerf or a buff, or anything. I do think a complete rework for the sake of making him more interesting would be cool. I like the helicopter idea , but as he is heās not a standout game balance problem. Heās a powerful tool that can be countered but until then, demolishes inexperienced players
Also, just to be clear, though I hate that the game is designed around changing heroes, itās not badly balanced when you take that idea into account. I just donāt prefer it.
When I come up against Reaper as D.Va I just fucking run unless he is already damaged. If he surprises me, we meet at the same time, or heck even if I surprise him, I need to get the fuck out because he very quickly out damages me, and yeah that sucks, but in the context of being able to switch heroes, Reaper has his problem matches too. McCree is the anti-attacker because of flashbang and he can totally wreck Reaper, Tracer, Genji, etc. because of it
Not saying strong, but there were a few times I died to him and in the killcam it looked like it completely missed me as tracer but I still got OHKO so was really confused. I just assumed lag, but this makes more sense. Other guy said āfixedā not me. Hanzo didnāt seem imba at all.
Honestly, I think Hanzoās Ult is going to be really good when people get more familiar with maps because it goes through walls. When I was playing it seemed really good in the the king of the hill style mode. Forcing people out of cover into easy kills. I donāt know enough about him to rate him, but the Ult has some unexplored potential imo. Might not be better than some other Ultās though, but has some fringe uses I could see people using it for in some games.
I think one strange thing relative to Widowmaker is that his bow at max charge does 125, while her sniper at 100% does 150. Widowmaker gets 100% charge extremely fast, and is a hitscan weapon, so to me she is the superior ranged combatant, while also having a machinegun that actually works for up close encounters. I think it would be fair if his charged bow can do 150 raw, since that is the cutoff for killing the lowest hp heroes and landing 300 hp headshots. Heāll still be unique compared to Widowmaker, since even with a damage increase, she will still outrange and outdps him, but he would have the advantage of more area denial with his ult and spread shot.
Honzoās ult has a different use than Widowās for sure, but yeah when it comes to comparing damage between the two, Honzo is just absolutely awful. His lack of mobility hurts too. There really isnāt a reason to pick Honzo over Widow.
