Yeah, perhaps based on the amount of damage done or healed? The girl that revives people could have those count towards her streak is one of the initial things I thought. Thinking mostly simple stuff that changed how some of your abilities worked or stuff that gave you full on additional things you could do, but once you die you have to start over.
It kinda does, until you power up (by shielding damage) and then it becomes pretty damn deadly.
So it helps a lot to have some support to heal you up and keep you alive between shield uses to reach that point.
sheeeeeeit, the game is even more fun than I thought it would be. Iāve taken some cheap shots at the character a long time ago but I went ahead and tried out Torbjorn first, surprisingly. I was shocked to do as well as I did, actually. It was coolā¦ my turret and I were actually getting kills and I kept helping out the team with the armor packs whenever I was around them. Next up for me was Bastion, and I had fun thereā¦ the damage in sentry mode is DELICIOUSā¦and with a Widowmaker on the team using that ability that reveals every enemyās position on the mapā¦one can easily set up in that mode for people that are approachingā¦then as soon as they run out in the open or in my line of sight they get LIT the hell up and Iām lovinā it
People managing to close the distance is definitely a problem for Bastion though, sadlyā¦ the regular gun seems so weak in comparison, and other than that you have the dinky little punch to throw out desperately before you proceed to get blown up.
With D.VA I run away from all losing fights. Iāll cover my escape by activating defense matrix while I back up, and then Iāll spin and hit the boosters. When you run away, go up into the air onto a different floor. Majority of characters with close range killing potential donāt have the mobility to follow you immediately. Know where the big health packs are. Iāll try and get some of my D.VA gameplay recorded later for you. I like to think Iām proficient with her.
D.VA (Mecha) LMB/RT - isnāt meant for solo situations, itās designed for team shotting your opponents similar to that of competitive Halo where everyone has a shield and team shots are very important.
Pistal (On foot) LMB/RT - has better damage than mecha guns. Hits for the same amount regardless of range.
Boost (Mecha) - Ramming someone with Boosters isnāt very viable (in my opinion) because most maps donāt have death floor. Using it as a traverse tool is more common. You got knocked off the map? Well use your boost to fly by onto the map. Thereās a death floor stopping you from getting to the objective faster? Use boost to get across the map instead of taking the long route. Taking too much damage? Use boost to get out. etc. Basically there are more ways to use boosting that donāt involve ramming someone which Iām sure you already know this.
Shield/Negete (Mecha) - Personally I use it on the offense for baiting and when I need to block something strong or just to survive longer.
Strafing (on foot) - In 1v1 fights D.Va has one of the strongest strafe speeds in the game to go along with her Pistol which has enough power and rate of fire to take out any 250 HP or below hero quickly. It is very importantly that you learn how to strafe (and jump in-between strafes) with this character because youāll be fighting on foot a lot and this is your ONLY tool for survival until your Mecha can respawn.
Ultimate (Mecha) - Most useful on objectives or heavily fortified areas.
As primarily a Zennyatta and sometimes Pharah player Iāve found D. VA to be mostly a sitting duck I guess she just does horribly against those two, but on the recieving end her DPS isnāt as scary as her appearance would have me believe.
Tracer and Widowmaker seem to be the ones killing me the most I donāt know if itās the matchup or that Iām just bad lol. Also Cosizzile on Mei ice wall being a bitch holy shit if you set it up right you can split the enemy team up and gang up on them individually I think sheās super slept on it seems ice wall can take a decent amount of damage before breaking too.
D.VAās biggest weakness is probably that she slows down when she fires the cannons. You canāt dance around like other people do. You gotta take the damage and not miss your shots.
i donāt think DVa beats anyone one on one without pushing them off a cliff.
itās probably intentional. could you imagine if someone with that toolkit (shield, mobility, infinite ammo, renewable healthpool, self destruct) was also good at 1v1?
DVa is a decoy. itās always tempting to take the four shots to kill her mech and then camp her spawn, and then her team flanks from the side and wipes you. then she just zips around and harasses chokes with her decent handgun until sheās ready to basically undo all the damage you did.
you ignore her, sheās got a bunch of tools to make you not ignore her.
winston is the tank to go with if you want mobility and 1v1s. roadhog if self sustain takes priority over mobility for you.
You want to use your boost to flank and ambush. Fly around the sides or upper paths of the map until youāre behind an enemy or group of enemies and start pouring into them with your endlessly firing canons. You start getting overwhelmed you put up your shield and boost out.
She doesnāt do great damage outside of close range because her guns are spread based, but in range she kills fairly well. You should be able to out perform most assaults up close 1 on 1 if you have full health due to all of that HP.
Make sure to know when to get the fuck out of there and look for health or your healer. Worst case just fly back to base for health.
You are the back line oppression.
When you have to play the objective heavily you should try to work around your teamās firing patterns, you canāt just stand back and fire behind your teammates because her guns have poor range. You want to get behind who theyāre shooting at and push them or sandwich them between you and them. Fly around the upper parts of the buildings surrounding the objective until you see enemies if want a more close defense, instead of flying away to oppress.
When youāre out of your mech just take pot shots from a distance, donāt run in trying to Rambo it up with her pistol, even though itās pretty damn good.
Also FYI if you donāt already know you can fly your bomb into people by boosting first then activating it. You can also activate it when your mech dies, allowing you to catch the person who killed it and get it back instantly as long as you can find cover.
Roadhog: everyone. He is actually pretty bad. I honestly donāt think he has any good matchups. He is good at killing squishies with his hook combo, but thatās really all he is good at. His ult is decent but that is all he offers in a team fight; his weapon is generally too slow to have large impact in a team fight. Having the largest HP pool in the game also makes him a damage spongeā¦ which is bad for you because it means youāre a great target to build ult meter on. Heās probably my favorite tank to play too, so it kinda sucks heās very underpowered.
Tracer: no one. She honestly has no bad matchups. McCree can kill her if he lands a blashbang on her, but no Tracer will put herself in a situation like that if she can help it. Junkrat can instantly kill her with a trap + mine combo, but that requires her to run into the trap. Torb is also decent against Tracer because of his turretās auto aim ability, but then that means you have a Torb and Torb is pretty weak against everyone else.
In terms of 1v1 matchups, D.Va actually shreds Winstonā¦ but who cares: youāre D.Va and do nothing particularly well.
I played nothing but Overwatch for an entire month during closed beta. When you put enough hours into the game, flaws of characters begin to become very apparent. Sheās not in a good state right now, mostly because many heroes do her job but better, as pointed out in the thread multiple times.
